6 Face Washing Mistakes that are Damaging Your Skin, Everyday!

6 Face Washing Mistakes that are Damaging Your Skin, Everyday!

6 Face Washing Mistakes that are Damaging Your Skin, Everyday!

Face-washing may be a simple everyday task that requires no great effort on your part. But when it’s not done right, it causes significant harm to your skin, each day. The mistakes that you may make while washing your face could lead to issues like irritation, dryness and even wrinkles. Read on to find out how you can avoid making these common errors, and save your skin from blemishes, ageing and lustreless look.

1. Using the wrong cleanser

The use of the wrong cleanser can throw your pH levels out of balance. The optimal pH balance of your skin is 5.5pH. This is the ideal level at which the thin protective layer on the surface of the skin (called acid mantle) can function to keep germs, toxins and bacteria at bay. You should therefore be picking your cleanser based on your skin type as it would come with the right pH balance.

2. Not cleaning your hands before touching the face

Always clean the germs and dirt of your hands first before moving onto your face. Ignoring this crucial first step can cause you to transfer all the bacteria and dirt of your hands on your face, giving rise to common skin problems such as acne, pimples and blackheads.

3. Using a pre-used washcloth

To avoid the filth from clogging your pores, always clean the washcloth that you use with an antiseptic to keep germs and bacteria at bay. Once you’re done washing your face, don’t rub the cloth all over your face but pat dry it.

4. Washing face using with hot water

When it comes to the water that you splash on your face, you should always use lukewarm or room temperature water. This is because hot water leaves your skin dry as it washes away the skin’s essential oils; and cold water can break the capillaries (fine blood vessels) of your skin. In contrast, mildly lukewarm water will keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

5. Not washing the face twice a day

Just as you shouldn’t ignore this important skin care habit that keeps your skin clean, you also shouldn’t go overboard with it. Excessive face-washing can hamper the natural oil production of your skin, giving rise to dryness and irritation as a result. Your skin requires the natural oil it produces to keep it smooth and supple. Ideally, you should wash your face twice daily - once in the morning for removing the bacteria and dirt that clogged your pores, and again at night before going to bed.

6. Rushing through the routine

Lastly, don’t rush through your cleansing routine. Make sure to properly rinse your face of cleanser completely, otherwise the residues would cause your skin to dry up later on, leading to skin irritation.

It is therefore very important to pay attention to all the little details that make up your face-washing routine. By doing it right, you get to achieve the clear and blemish-free skin that you always wanted.

I have problem regarding excess sweating occurs on my face. Also with pimple and blackheads. My skin type is oily, nowadays I only use dove soap. So what to do to get oil free clear skin, please help.

MD - Dermatology, MBBS

Hello. Use fash or facecare facewash twice a day. Use nadoxin gel on the pimple very little amount or one pea size drop for full face once a day for 15 days. Apply multani mitti face pack once a week to reduce oiliness. Pimples if come very frequently, a long course of tablets is required so see a local dermatologist for further assessment if no satisfactory response.

Your problem is probably a anal fistula. Fistula in ano is a chronic problem most commonly develops after improperly drained anal abscess. Once formed it needs to be excised by surgery. Before surgery fistula track has to be identified and classified as a long or short. You need to see an expert coloproctologist because for complicated and long fistula not many surgeons can operate properly.

Hi, use bakson's face wash, schwabe's aloe vera cream regularly. Don't let the area get any kind of friction like rubbing (rubbing even the cream or oil), scratching, pinching, etc. Any kind of friction makes the condition worse! increase the intake of vitamin a (green veggies, reddish or yellow veggies or fruits like carrot, papaya, water melon, egg yolks, etc.), vitamin c (citrus fruits like oranges, kinus, mausambi, lemon, etc. And amla, green veggies, tomatoes, green peas), vitmain e (nuts sp. Walnut, almonds, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, fish) and protein (pulses, legumes, sprouts, non-veg, eggs, etc.). Take 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Medication: take petroleum 200 and natrum mur. 6x/ thrice daily for 1 month. Revert me back there after.

How to rid of accident mark. there are several scars please help me to get rid of those marks?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
There are powerful homemade treatments used to remove accident scars naturally without causing any side effects to the skin. 1. Mix curd or frozen milk and turmeric. Frozen milk is a good exfoliating agent and it nourishes your skin and leaves your skin glowing once you wash off the paste. If you have a sensitive skin then you can add a few drops of lemon juice and rose water. Facial scars from accidents can be easily removed by using the above mentioned natural home remedies. 2. You can also use the one part of baking soda with two part of water to create a paste. Baking soda is a natural exfoliator and helps in the gentle scraping of the scar tissue layer by layer. Scrub (avoid vigorous rubbing) this paste on your scars for a minute or two and after that you can rinse it off with cold water. Try one of the above options and I think you will get 80-100% free from these scars in 3-4 months. After 3 months give feedback

Anetoderma - Facts You Should Know About it

M Derm, DNB (Dermatology & Venereology) , MBBS
Dermatologist, Gurgaon
Anetoderma - Facts You Should Know About it

Healthy skin is one that stays taut and firm. Anetoderma is a rare benign condition where the dermis loses elastic tissue. This results in the formation of a depression in the skin or flaccid skin. This condition is also known as macular atrophy, anetoderma maculosa, and atrophia maculosa cutis. Anetoderma is not contagious.

Women are at a higher risk of suffering from this condition than men. It usually affects people in their late teens and early twenties. Premature babies born with a very low birth weight are also susceptible to this condition. In rare cases, it can run in the family and affect identical twins.

Depending on how it is triggered, there are two types of Anetoderma; primary and secondary. Both forms of this condition may be associated with systemic diseases that include infections like leprosy, HIV and lyme disease, inflammatory or autoimmune conditions and medications like penicillamine.

Primary Anetoderma

This is marked by the spontaneous eruptions of lesions on the skin without any other symptoms. The cause for primary anetoderma has not yet been determined. The suggested causes include antiphospholipid antibodies, immunological abnormalities and reduced production of elastin. It has also been associated with cataract, bone calcifications, myocardial infarction and blegvad-haxthausen syndrome

Secondary Anetoderma

In this case, atrophic lesions are preceded by inflammatory or autoimmune processes. This usually occurs at the site of skin conditions such as chicken pox, syphilis, tumours, acne, infantile haemangioma etc.

Both types of anetoderma can occur simultaneously. The main symptoms of primary and secondary anetoderma are:

Small, round or oval lesions on the upper arms, upper body and thighs. These lesions rarely occur on the neck, face, palms and soles. They may be isolated to grouped together to give a patchy appearance.

1. Atrophic papules

2. Loss of elastic tissue in the skin

3. Fine, diffused wrinkling

Till date, there is no known cure for this disease. If the number of lesions is limited the doctor may look at surgical excision as an option. Different forms of medication have been experimented with, but have not given consistent results. Some of the types of medication prescribed include aspirin, penicillin, vitamin E, niacin, topical epsilon-aminocaproic acid and oral colchicines.

Some cases have also shown improvement on being treated with carbon dioxide fractional lasers and pulsed dye lasers. In cases of secondary anetoderma, successfully identifying and curing the underlying condition can clear up the lesions as well. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist.

Aged 22 years. I have a problem of Oily skin, pimples and black spots on face. How to treat at home?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 20 days. Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Use home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity.

I am suffering from a skin problem of white spots above my eye brows and my lips. The white spots turn pinkish while I am out in sun. They are itchy in summers. They somehow disappear in winters but then come again in summers. They are only on my face.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. White patches/ dots on your skin are a common type of depigmented skin lesion associated with an infection, allergy, or autoimmune disorder. One common cause of white spots, or hypopigmentation, is a fungal infection of the skin known as tinea versicolor (associated with other symptoms, such as itching or dryness on or around the white patches). This fungal infection is not contagious and can be treated easily with over-the-counter medications. The white spots and patches can also be because of deficiency of vitamin d (for which 15-20 minutes of exposure to early morning sunlight without sunscreen is needed, 3-4 times a week). Or else they could be idiopathic (i. E, without any cause). Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder which can be treated with homoeopathic medicines, but chances of relapses are also there. Please tell me other symptoms like about sensation on the area, since how long do you have this patch, any family history of white patch, etc. Meantime, you can start with homoeopathic medicines - cina 1m/ one dose daily at night and ars. Sulph. Flavum. 200/ twice daily for initially 1 month (it is safe). Apply a good brand's sunscreen with spf 40 on the skin (specially on the white patches/ spots) 20-30 minutes before going out under the sunscreen and reapply it after 3-4 hrs. Again.

If scars are not deep they will fade away with time. You can take silicea 6x four tab 4 times daily for three month and see the response. And if they are deep you can opt for laser treatment or plastic surgery.
