There must b spasm in your neck muscles. Try taking hot foamentation n neck mobility exercises. I.e move your neck up n down in slow motion, sideways n rotation but slowly. N shoulder shrugging exs. If you feel better dan fine or else visit a Physio.

Hi, Rheumatoid Arthritis is a disease which can be well managed by Ayurvedic medicines. No need to worry about your condition. Please make sure that you are taking medicines properly and have control on your food as mentioned by your doctor. The duration of medication depends on the nature and intensity of your problem. But the joint pain and other symptoms will be under control in a few months. In Ayurveda, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Digestive system are highly connected. So always make sure you don't have any digestion problems or constipation. Medicines may not give good results if your stomach is not healthy. Take care, do not worry about your disease.

Hi, There is no mention of the nature or cause of your pain. As it is just 2-3 days old, I assume it may be because of any small injury. Maybe because you hold your baby for a long time. The first step in treatment for any injury is to give rest. You can give support to the joint by a bandage. Pain oils like Murivenna or Karpuradi thaila can be used for applying over the wrist. Mix camphor in hot cocunut oil, apply the warm oil on wrist twice a day. It would give relief to your pain. Do consult a doctor if the pain persists. Take care, be happy.

Runner's Knee - 4 Most Important Exercises for it

Runner’s knee is a very common problem with athletes. It is definitely not something one needs to worry about. In fact, with certain exercises, it can be prevented and if you do develop a runner’s knee, it can be treated with some exercises as well.

There are special sports medical practitioners who prescribe not only regular physiotherapy, but also specific exercises to deal with specific sports injuries. To fight with runner’s knee pain, there are a few exercises.

But the four most important ones are described in detail below.

  1. Quads: For performing proper quads, all you need is a back wall for additional support. You need to hold yourself against the wall and keep your legs apart from each other. The legs should be folded in the knees. In this position, you have to move up till the knee position with a minimum of one minute hold time in the knee position. You can repeat this exercise 10 times at a stretch before moving on to the next exercise.
  2. Hamstring: This is a fairly easier exercise than the previous one. You have to stand straight with your legs apart. Bend downwards from your hips. Relax your neck and back. Ease your head downwards as well. Keep your hands behind. Join both your hands and give it a stretch. If you think that this position is straining your neck or back a little too much, then you can simply stretch your hands without joining them.
  3. Calves: Calves is a standard exercise that is prescribed by medical practitioners and physiotherapists for easing out the pain caused by runner’s knee. You have to stand with your hand against the wall. Put your left leg forward and bend it at the knees. Stand on your right heel. Hold yourself in this position for 20 to 30 seconds before changing the legs and doing the same.
  4. Lateral: Lateral is also one of the easiest and common forms of exercises. You have to stand with your legs directly below your hips. Then stretch your right leg apart. Without bending your knees, try to touch the toes of your right leg with the fingers of your left hand. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds before changing the position and performing the lateral with your left leg.

Thus, these are some of the very fundamental exercises that one should follow in order to get quick relief from the pains of a runner’s knee. These exercises are very easy and help in reducing pain.

Hi, Take tab. Shallaki 400 mg 1-2 tabs 3 times a day depending on the severity of the pain. Take Balarista 2tsf 3 times a day, mixed with equal quantity of water and Maharasnadi Khadha 2 tsf 3 times a day, mixed with equal quantity of water. Apply Rumalaya liniment to the affected joints and massage in circular motion for 10-15 mins and then take hot water fomentation. Avoid potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet pumpkin, peas, channa, recently harvested rice, jackfruit, etc. Which aggrevate the pain. You can even undergo physio- therapy for 10-15 days.

Deficiency of vitamin D is usually due to insufficient nutrition or poor exposure to sunlight. With supplements it would improve. An x-ray of knee should also be taken to see whether there is flaring of bone margins if deficiency is since long. Its curable with timely medications. Give her fortified foodstuffs rich in vitamin D.usually milk and milk products provide it and exposure to sun for hour daily.

Hi sir. I am an Arthritis patient suffering from the last 10 years. I was affected at an age of 14. Initially pains were so severe and gradually they were decreased. At present I was taking (once in a day): Aceclo Mr. Prednisolone 5 mg Rabi DSR. If I stop taking any medicine, immediately on the next day my condition is becoming worse with fever and severe pains. Hello. If you have arthritis since childhood, it would be Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (jia). It needs to be treated with same drugs as for adult arthritis. You are doing wrong by taking steroids for prolonged periods without any other disease modifying drug. Steroids should be taken only as a bridge therapy till the effect of other potent arthritis drugs sets in. So see a Rheumatologist urgently and take proper medicines.

Neck strengthening exercises will be helpful 1.side to side flexion with and without resistance. 2.chin to chest flexion and extension of neck 3.rotation, 4.Traction will also work good for both cervical and lumbar 5. Apply hot pack for 15 min Take care.

MRI - LUMBAR spine 19,10.2016: Findings: Loss of normal lumbar lordosis seen? Due to muscle spasm. Lumbar vertebrae appears normal in alignment .No listhesis. Small Schmorl's nodes noted involving the endplates of multiple lumbar vertebra. Degeneration ofL1-L2, L2-L3 and L4-L5 lumbar intervertebral disc Posterior annular tear noted at L1-L2, L2-L3 and L4-LSlevels. At Ll-L2 level there is right paramidline protrusion, No foramina narrowing. At L2-L3, L3-L4 diffuse posterior disc bulge noted ,causing effacement of ventral thecal sac and inferior recess of bilateral neural foramina narrowing at L3-L4 level. At L4-L5 level, posterocentral and left forminal protrusion causing, significant canal stenosis and left neural foramina narrowing ,resulting in compression of exiting L4 and traversing LS nerve roots at this level. At LS-Sllevel, no disc bulge or herniation. Conus medullaris appear unremarkable. Impression: - Lumbar spondylosis degenerative changes as mentioned ,predominant at L4-L5 level. - At L4-LSlevel, posterocentral and left forminal protrusion causing, significant canal stenosis and left neural foramina narrowing ,resulting in compression of exiting left L4 and traversing Left LSnerve roots at this level. Gel means Disc (Fat) the Liquid which play between the bones gap back side.

first of all do lots of breathing exercises it will help you to breath properly and avoid chest pain. If possible swimming is best exercise for you Do all the possible range of motion exercises and extension exercise follow proper sitting and lying postion to maintain posture Thanku

according your age it can due to over strain activity so do hot fermentation and put a towel roll under knee and press for 10 second then release repeat 10 to 20 times twice a day. it will help you otherwise physiotherapy treatment. if u HV calcium deficiency then a x-ray must. avoid long standing till relief

Hi Sir I am 25 years old male I was feeling easily tired and dizziness and numbness in my feet, I went for medical examination the reports revealed I was suffering with thyroid Total T3= 1.68 total t4= 7.50 Tsh=6.09 I was suggest to take thyrox 25 mg I ha ve taken the medicine since last two month and after test my tsh was 27.05 I was suggested to take thyronorm 75 still after a month I don't see any improvement my depression levels are becoming worse getting easily angry feeling tired and drowsy kindly help me.

Mr. lybrate-user, If your latest TSH level is 27.07 mU/L, then the current dosage of thyroxine is not adequate. It has to be increased. Plus you will have to take a restricted diet, that matches your caloric needs based on ideal body weight and extent of daily physical activity. Plus please do a blood glucose (fasting, PP) check up and come back with the results. Thanks.

What does neck and shoulder pain indicate?

The stabbing pain that you experience around the neck and shoulder region should never be ignored as they may indicate health problems that require medical attention. There are certain points that you need to keep in mind the if you experience prolonged pain in these areas of the body.

1. Neck injury? your neck and shoulder pain should be seen as a warning sign that you need to take a look at the neck injury you may have sustained during a rear-end automobile accident. More specifically, whiplash injuries that happen when the head experiences a sudden backward and forward jerk, straining the tissues of the neck. 

2. Pain in these areas of the body could indicate abnormalities in the vertebrae of your neck such as herniated disc, causing added pressure on the nerves of the spinal cord.

3. Your neck and shoulder pain complaint may also point towards muscle strains. Lifestyle factors like working long hours in front of laptops or desktops leave you with no time and zero energy to exercise, resulting in serious neck and shoulder pains.

4. Your neck and shoulder pain may also indicate the problem of cervical spondylosis. This is a degenerative disc disease, which is characterised by severe pain that originates from the neck and radiates till the shoulders.

5. Even heart problems, such as a heart attack can cause pain in the shoulder and the neck. When this happens, the condition is known as referred pain.

6. Adopting an improper body posture during lifting of heavy materials can induce pain in your body parts, with neck and shoulders being the most vulnerable areas.

7. You may be suffering from a condition known as rotator cuff injury in which the group of ligaments and muscles that support the shoulder get injured during lifting or playing any sport.

To avoid aggravating the pain from becoming more severe, you shouldn't ignore any ache that arises from these areas.
