Hi Sir, Blood sugar control. My reading today fasting 150, post meal 230. P;ease advice on it.
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Blood glucose should be maintained as follows: fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. This will help in preventing or postponing the long term complications of diabetes. Apart from taking appropriate medications it is essential to take a properly planned restricted diet that gives exact calories based on your ideal body weight, extent of daily physical exercise and glucose levels. Plus it is essential to do at least 1 hours exercise every day. If you want specific advise and upgrading of treatment then please come in a private conversation (paid consultation), with all the above information. Then I will be able to give specific advice including prescriptions if needed. Thanks.

Lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism is a hormone (thyroxine) deficiency disease. This hormone is needed for every day metabolic functions in the body. Hence, there is a need for constant supplementation for lifetime. So there is no question of cure. Another important aspect is that if a woman desires to have a baby, then very strict control of TSH is absolutely essential. Otherwise, pregnancy may not occur, or if it does happen, fetal development and pregnancy outcomes are affected. So please take care. If you have any questions do come back. Thanks.

If you make necessary dietary changes and combine it with 1 some regular walk or exercise you can shed weight. You need to correct your diet wherever it’s going wrong. Focus on higher protein intake, lower fat and restrict carbohydrates to high fibre foods only. Avoid simple sugars as far as possible like sugar, jaggery, honey, sweets, candies, chocolates, cold drinks etc. 'Eat Out' less, avoid junk and have good quantity of fresh foods which are not processed like fruits, vegetables, soups, salads, nuts, low fat milk, curd etc. Metabolism is a little slow in hypothyroidism, so you need to keep patience with weight loss. If you need us to help you with proper customised Diet plans for weight loss, you can opt for our online program or contact us through Lybrate' private consult.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Even the present levels mentioned show fairly good blood glucose control There is no need to change any medication, instead you can look at your diet and exercise. Altering the diet, taking more of green leafy vegetables, salads and increasing the physical activity will help in improving blood glucose levels. Thanks.
