Multiple Joint Pain - Treatment Options For It!

Pain in two or more joints in the body is known as multiple joint pain. Pain may occur either when a joint moves or when it is at rest. Sometimes, the pain might stem from the muscles, ligaments, or tendons. Examples of such conditions include tendinitis and bursitis.

Arthritis may be associated with the pelvis or spine joints. Different disorders affect different joints and the causes and treatment options vary accordingly. There are some disorders which affect the same joint on both the sides of the body, such as both hands and the knees. In certain disorders, the pain resulting from arthritis keeps on moving from one joint to another (migratory arthritis).

Causes:

  1. Most of the time, the root cause is arthritis. However, the reasons which cause arthritis are different from each other, in the way:

    • The types of joints involved.

    • The number of joints involved.

    • Whether the central area of the skeleton is involved or not.

    • Whether it is chronic arthritis (longstanding) or acute arthritis (sudden).

  2. Acute arthritis which affects multiple joints can be due to:

  3. Chronic arthritis causing pain in multiple joints is most commonly due to:

The most common joint disorders are:

  1. Fibromyalgia (widespread tenderness and pain in the muscles)

  2. Bursitis (inflammation of the joint cushions) or tendinitis (inflammation of the tissues which connect the bone to the muscle)

  3. Polymyalgia rheumatica (stiffness and muscle pain, primarily in the shoulders)

Warning Signs Include:

  1. Swelling and redness of the joints.

  2. Fever, chills or sweat.

  3. Chest pain or severe cough.

  4. Abdominal pain.

Treatment Methods:

  1. Drugs and medications are needed to treat autoimmune disorders. The autoimmune response of the immune system is suppressed with the help of these drugs. These medications include immunosuppressive medications, pain relievers and anti-inflammatory medicines.

  2. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) help in reducing inflammation.

  3. A sling or splint bag immobilizes the joint, which relieves the pain.

  4. The application of heat with a heating pad will lessen the pain to a great extent.

  5. Cold application with ice cubes wrapped in a cloth will provide relief.

Consult an orthopaedic doctor to know you type of multiple joint pain and an accurate treatment for it.

How Laser Surgery Is Safe For Facial Hair Removal?

Dermatologist, Ahmedabad
How Laser Surgery Is Safe For Facial Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a laser, which is an intense, pulsating beam of light to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to an individual hair follicle. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, inhibiting future hair growth. Although laser hair removal slows hair growth, it does not guarantee permanent hair removal. It takes multiple laser hair removal treatments to provide hair-free skin. Laser surgery for facial hair removal helps your skin look younger and healthier by treating aging, acne, and blotches, scars, wrinkles, lines or excess hair on the face.

This surgery comes with its own share of benefits, which are:

  • First of all, laser hair removal is precise. The laser only targets the pigmented area of the skin on your face, such as the hair follicle. This is why only the hair follicle is burned and not the skin surrounding the area, making it a safe procedure.
  • Laser hair removal is most effective on the hairs in the early part of the hair growing stage. A concentrated beam of light is aimed at the hair follicle. The laser then converts its energy into heat and heats up the hair follicle preventing it from growing any further.
  • Laser hair removal removes unwanted hair from your face at the speed of light. The laser is designed to treat several hairs in a large surface area, all at the same time. There is no downtime after the service and no sticky residue left behind.
  • The pain factor varies from person to person because every person has a different level of pain tolerance. Laser surgery is described as feeling like a gentle pinch or like the snap of a warm rubber band.
  • Laser hair removal has many benefits that make it a viable option for many people to permanently deal with unwanted hair. You can ask many questions during your consultation to make sure you fully understand the procedure they use and how they deal with the treatment of pain.

Even though laser hair removal surgery on the face is largely safe, there are certain very minor side effects that are associated with it that you need to keep in mind before opting for it. The risks involved with laser surgery occur very rarely including a change in skin tone, burns, and blistering. If performed correctly by a trained professional with a lot of experience, laser surgery for hair removal is very safe. You may have slight redness or local swelling on the treatment area of your face that typically resolves within several hours. Limiting your exposure to the sun before and after treatment can minimize the risk of complications.

Can we do hair transplant on 1 inch area where I have a scar in front of my head.

Can we do hair transplant on 1 inch area where I have a scar in front of my head.
Yes it is possible Hair transplant is one of the most frequently performed surgeries and we are the pioneers in central India since last 30 years. There are no side effects since they are your own hair. They are your own hair and the results are permanent with no side effects like rejection. We have to assess the Hair pattern. Some people respond to medical treatment but a fair number need surgery. The surgery is almost painless because there are enough medications to keep the pain under control We need to examine the patient to know what is wanted and what can be done and to work out how much, when, where, etc

There are many reasons for hair fall. So first and foremost we have to find the cause with the help of detailed history and examination. Some of the common causes are nutritional deficiency, hormonal causes like androgenic alopecia or patterned baldness, telogen effluvium etc. Unless we find and treat the cause there is no point in giving non specific treatment. Oils or shampoos do not have any effect on hair growth as they are not absorbed in the skin. Please send photographs using online consult option for proper diagnosis and detailed prescription.

You may be suffering from androgenic alopecia which is also called as pattern baldness. The hairs start reducing in density at the crown (top) and also the hairline starts refeeding from the front. This is usually progressive throughout life unless treated. The FDA approved treatment for this condition is a lotion and tablets. There is no other alternative. No oil or cream will magically work because the hairs are getting miniaturised and eventually disappearing due to the hormonal effects on the hair roots. Along with this, you can also consider platelet rich plasma therapy for faster results. Please consult me with photos for proper examination and treatment. Do not start treatment without consulting.

Does laser hair removal is permanent or temporary? Can you please tell me answer.

MBBS, Diploma in Venerology & Dermatology (DVD)
Dermatologist, Delhi
Does laser hair removal is permanent or temporary? Can you please tell me answer.
Laser hair removal was approved by the FDA in the 1990s and is considered a safe and effective way to permanently remove and reduce hair. With the right laser, appropriate settings and accurately spaced time between treatments, laser hair removal is incredibly effective and results in 90 percent permanent hair reduction. Many patients ask why this is not 100 percent. The fact is that as our bodies age, we go through hormonal changes. These hormonal changes can trigger new hair growth. It is not uncommon to need a "touch up" at some point in your life after having laser hair removal. Laser hair removal works by using pulsed laser light. The laser light is attracted to the pigment in the hair and travels down the shaft creating a "thermal injury" to the follicle. This trauma to the follicle is what prevents future growth. It's important to note that lasers cannot effectively treat grey, red, blonde or fine hair. Hair grows in three phases, which is why it's so important to maintain a set schedule for effective treatment. The only hair that will receive effective treatment are the ones currently growing. Therefore, as our bodies go through these three stages of hair growth, we must time treatment appropriately to catch all the new hair entering this growth phase. Body hair should be treated every six weeks while facial hair should be treated every four weeks. A minimum of 10-12 treatments is recommended to reach 90 percent permanent hair reduction.

Hello, Although the rate at which your beard grows depends on your individual testosterone level and genetics. There are some simple steps you can incorporate into your daily routine to help along the growing process. JOJOBA OIL: Stimulate your facial hair by massaging with jojoba oil. Nutrients in jojoba oil penetrate into the hair and stimulate facial hair growth. Apart from hair, this liquid wax will moisturize your face. CASTOR OIL: You can massage your beard with Sunny isle’s extra dark Jamaican black castor oil (or normal castor oil) at nighttime and leave it overnight. Black Jamaican castor oil has a scientifically valid theoretical method of boosting beard growth, by stimulating the production of prostaglandin E2 in hair follicles. SESAME OIL: Apply sesame oil once in a week to your face to grow thicker beard. Leave it overnight and rinse your beard off with lukewarm water in the morning. You can also eat 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds once a day for its additional benefits. ARGAN OIL: Argan oil is another beard oil that is most commonly used as a hair moisturizer to soften and hydrate hair shafts. Moreover, it is proven to make beard hair silkier, softer and shinier. This is why many cosmetic companies add argan and jojoba oils to beard oils for fast beard growth. EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN: To grow a fuller beard you should exfoliate your skin once a week, using a scrub or an exfoliant. This will help to remove all the dead skin cells and will stimulate new hair growth. KEEP YOUR SKIN CLEAN: On other days, wash your face with tea tree facewash to get rid of all the oil and dirt accumulated on the skin making it. Moisturize with Aloe Vera moisturizer (it also promotes healthy hair growth). FOLLOW A HEALTHY DIETARY ROUTINE: Eat more foods that are rich in proteins like beans, eggs, chicken and fish. Also eat all seasonal fruits and vegetables (especially green ones) in plentiful amounts. Drink at least 5 litres of water in a day. BIOTIN: Take a biotin supplement daily. Also add a high quality multivitamin, flaxseed oil, fish oil, and Ashwagandha powder to your diet.

You have hormonal changes and applying minoxidil cream and good life style can increase hair volume .In general, you lose about 50-100 strands of hair each day, but the loss is not visible as new hair grow in their place. However, if you lose more than a 100 strands in a day and more than 200 strands on the day you shampoo, you may be suffering from what is known as excessive hair fall. Apply coconut oil and do not use shampoo. Only dry the excess Certain factors or reasons may cause you to lose hair at an alarming rate, which are, 1. Thyroid problems Your thyroid is responsible for your body’s overall functioning. The hormones (primarily T4 and T3), which it produces help in regulating metabolic activities. Problems with your thyroid gland can cause your hormone levels to rise or fall to unhealthy levels, which can result in hair fall. You can improve the functioning of your thyroid gland through a diet rich in calcium, iodine, magnesium, protein and Vitamins A, B and C. 2. Scalp infections-Infections of the scalp can also be one of the factors that may cause your hair to fall at an alarming rate. Of the different scalp infections, the ringworm scalp infection is the most common. Although this fungal infection can occur in any part of your body, when it develops on your scalp, you end up losing clumps of hair. Alongside the use of anti-fungal medications, even anti-fungal shampoos and creams can provide you with respite from the problem. 3. Poor diet, Gorging on unhealthy foods or going on a crash diet can result in the lack of essential nutrients in your body, which are required to maintain healthy hair. Furthermore, since hair is made of protein, having a balanced diet consisting of proteins and vitamin- rich foods is a must.
