10 simple and easy ways to cut down calories this Rakshabandhan!

No doubt it's really difficult to cut down calories during festival. However you can try to cut down calories by using the following smart ways.
1. Prepare yourself for the rakshabandhan-this means you need to be careful from few days in advance and have a check on your calorie intake right from the morning of rakshabandhan
Start replacing your usual breakfast with food items with minimum calories so that you can have space for more calories when you meet your relatives &friends.
2. Cut calories at work - avoid drinking 4-5 cups of tea or coffee when at work this will help you cut down 200-250 calories.
3. Cut down intake of cola-drinking a cola bottle with lunch or dinner means additional 145 calories. Avoid this.
4. Work out-make up your mind to add some time to your workout schedule before & after festival. This will help you shred some of the additional weight &also prepare your body not to absorb fat through sweet & other rich food items.
5. Foods rich in fiber & water - try to opt for food items that are rich in fiber & enjoy your food while you eat.
6. Dinner-pay attention to what you take at dinner. Serve this at your home, you can either take low calorie food item or simply drink a glass of milk. It is completely up to you.

Dear lybrate-user, Happy to know that you are doing yoga regularly. Always ensure you are eating protein rich food after your workout. It can be either eggs, millet/ragi malt, curd, nuts, seeds, milk, sprouts, boiled pulses etc. Also, have at least 2 fruits as snacks during mid morning and early evening. Drink 1-2 cups of green tea around noon and evening. For dinner, have a bowl of boiled vegetables or full veg soups. Ensure you eat small portions and increased variety. Also focus on eating slow, undistracted and mindfully. Feel nourished always. All the best!

Benefits for the skin
It is used as an ingredient in makeup removers, soaps, and scrubs for better outcomes. Olive oil contains anti-ageing properties that are searched for by almost every middle-aged woman in a population. They are also used as moisturisers and for enhancing the skin quality.

How does it work against diseases?
Olive oil is rich in antioxidants like vitamin E, phyto-nutrients (which act as anti-inflammatory agents), and it works as a preventive agent against cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, osteoporosis, and similar diseases.

Lemon
Lemon is another all-time favourite citric fruit, found in Asia in large quantities and qualities. It has many health benefits as well. Lemon is also a choice of the general population in both culinary and non-culinary units.

Why are lemons favourable?
Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which is much more than the daily consumable value. They are also packed with flavonoids, iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, vitamin B6, copper, and folates. Modestly, it can be assured that they work as anti-toxic and anti-infectious substances.

How lemons contribute to a healthy lifestyle?
Lemons help in breaking down free radicals, which, when more in number, can cause serious damage to blood vessels and cause cholesterol formation.

  1. Its citrus quantity helps prevent acne, resulting in a healthy, glowing skin.
  2. It helps in iron absorption due to its high content of vitamin C
  3. It relieves problems related to indigestion and constipation.
  4. It is used in hair care. It can treat dandruff, hair loss, and provide additional shine to the hair.
  5. It is also good for throat infections, due to its functions as an antibiotic.

These two gifts from nature are so common to the human eye that we fail to provide them the importance they deserve. Nature has provided many such gifts to us. Open your eyes and start searching for more! If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Hot hands and feet can refer to a warm sensation or a painful tingling in the limbs. This is often made worse at night, making it difficult to sleep, though performing physical activities can also cause this condition to appear. People 45 and older are more likely to develop hot, red or burning hands and feet than other age groups. In many cases this condition is temporary, but certain conditions can cause this condition to become permanent. Possible Causes of Hot Hands and Feet There are a number of conditions that can cause the hands and feet to develop an uncomfortable burning sensation. Evaluating your other symptoms will help you narrow down the cause so you can get adequate treatment. • Erythromelalgia- This condition is known to cause a burning pain, redness or increase in temperature in the hands and feet. These symptoms will begin as a tingling or itching that will slowly progress to a painful burning sensation. Some people note occasional flares of these symptoms while others experience them all the time. This condition may occur spontaneously or as a result of a neurological disease. Doctors will attempt to note underlying causes of this condition to ensure that proper treatment can be administered. • Carpal or Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome- These conditions are very similar in nature. Each causes pressure to build up on the joints, leading to a burning sensation in the hands and feet due to the compression on the nerves. This sensation is often described as an electric shock that radiates out from the affected joints. • Hypothyroidism- Hypothyroidism is a condition that is caused when the thyroid is not producing enough of the necessary hormones. If this is left untreated it can cause the joints to develop a hot or burning sensation, which can manifest itself strongly in the hands and feet. • Kidney Dysfunction- If the kidneys are not functioning the way they should it can lead to a burning sensation throughout the body. This is caused when the body is unable to rid itself of cell waste through the bloodstream, leading to a buildup of waste. If the cells are constantly exposed to these toxins they can begin to break down, causing bodily damaged. If this condition is severe enough, the patient may need to begin dialysis treatments to rid themselves of this waste. • Liver Damage- On a similar note, waste and toxins can build up in the body if the liver is not filtering them away the way it should. If toxins are allowed to build up in the bloodstream it can cause a burning pain throughout the body which may become more severe in the limbs. • Nerve Damage- Damage to the nerves can cause an uncomfortable burning sensation to appear. This symptom will typically begin in the limbs before spreading throughout the body. Conditions such as diabetes can cause this damage to appear. Managing these underlying conditions will be a key to eliminating your discomfort. • Vitamin Deficiency- A diet that is low in B1, B5, B6 and B12 can cause a burning sensation to develop in the hands and feet. This is caused when the body is unable to maintain the nervous system properly. Adjusting your diet or taking supplements to increase your vitamin intake can help eliminate these symptoms.

Lets agree to it. At least majority of all have done it; saved those leftovers from the other night for lunch at work the next day, packaged nicely in that compact tupperware container. And warming the food for a quick fix. But have we ever paid attention that the microwave safe container which we use for this are safe to our health? let me bring to your notice that what is the impact of it on our health

Nuking your food in a tupperware container releases toxic chemicals into the food which enters the body at small doses. When you heat the food contamination further increases. This chemical causes insulin resistance and high blood pressure, two factors in diabetes.

Two phthalates compounds (dinp/didp) found in plastic was associated with high blood pressure.

When pregnant woman is exposed to this compounds it may cause lower iq in babies.

What is the solution?

1. Avoid using plastic containers or plastic wraps when microwaving food
2. Avoid washing plastic containers in dishwashers as plasticizers could leak
3. Avoid plastic containers labeled 3, 6, and 7. These numbers usually appear inside the recycle symbol
4. Conventional heating in stainless steel utensils with lpg gas.

Perhaps you should think twice about bringing those leftovers to work in a plastic container, and automatically popping them into the microwave. Instead, use paper plates, bowls, or other forms of dishware to heat up that day-old food.

Thank you for reading it. I hope it has helped you.

Air resistance elliptical trainers are fairly straightforward. Your pedaling turns a fan and the air itself provides resistance against your pedaling as it resists the fan blades. The faster you pedal your air resistance elliptical trainer, the more resistance you get.

Thyroid disirders and Vit D3 deficiency are interrelated. I would recommend a more comprehensive analysis of metabolic, nutrient and hormonal parameters. I suspect your wife has Autoimmune thyroiditis. If so, then this too has to be addressed.
