Hello I am 20 years old and I am male I want to increase my body wait. So kindly help me?
I suggest you easy method of weight gain just follow it for year you will gain weigh defiantly 1. Start exercise regularly for 3 month and then after 3 month leave it for 3 month at the time of exercise your diet will increase but same diet continue after 3 month when you stop exercise so thats why your weight will increase automatically now we discus about diet 2. Take dates with milk in the morning breakfast 3. Triphala kadha 4 tsp beore lunch and dinner 4. Amala juice 4 tsp + 2tsp sugar + 2tsp honey in the morning empty stomach this take for 1.5 month only your weight gain will take definitely note=avoid over eating. When you are trying to gain weight, you should eat food the rich in vitamins and minerals. 1. Healthy food includes meat, egg, milk, fruit vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Cashews, almonds, dates, walnuts, dry grapes, apricots, peaches are some of the dried fruits and nuts that can be added to breakfast, salads, cereal and desserts. Sesame seeds, ground nuts, and peanuts also contain fats in them and can help in adding that extra pounds you desire. 2. Sometimes loss of appetite may also cause weight loss.

Sir my height 163 and height 75kgs I was in overweight what should I do please help me and I do not eat food more yet...
Being a dietitian my views: there is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

Meniere's Disease- What Exactly Is It?

MS - ENT, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Delhi
Meniere's Disease- What Exactly Is It?

It is a disorder of the inner ear, which is characterized by episodes of vertigo, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), hearing loss, and fullness in the ear.

Epidemiology, Incidence, and Prevalence

The reported prevalence of Meniere disease varies widely, from 15 per 100,000 in the United States to 157 per 100,000 in the United Kingdom.

Causes

The cause of Meniere’s disease is elevated endolymphatic pressure. Causes of elevated endolymphatic pressure include:

  1. Metabolic disturbances
  2. Hormonal imbalance
  3. Trauma
  4. Infections, such as otosyphilis and Cogan’s syndrome (interstitial keratitis)
  5. Autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, may cause an inflammatory response within the labyrinth

Signs and Symptoms

  1. Recurrent episodes of vertigo, hearing loss and tinnitus
  2. These episodes may be accompanied by a headache and a feeling of fullness in the ears
  3. People may also have additional symptoms related to irregular reactions of the autonomic nervous system, such as nausea, vomiting, and sweating, which are typical symptoms of vertigo and not of Meniere disease
  4. Sensation of being pushed sharply to the floor from behind
  5. Sudden falls without loss of consciousness

Complications of Meniere’s disease may include the following:

  • Injury due to falls
  • Anxiety regarding symptoms
  • Accidents due to vertigo spells
  • Disability due to unpredictable vertigo
  • Progressive imbalance and deafness
  • Intractable tinnitus

Differential Diagnosis

Investigations

Laboratory studies - No blood test is specific for Meniere’s disease but to exclude obvious metabolic disturbances, infections, or hormonal imbalances:

  • Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), T4, and T3 to rule out hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism
  • Glucose level to rule out diabetes
  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and antinuclear antibody (ANA) test to rule out autoimmune disorders
  • Complete blood count (CBC) to rule out anemia and leukemia
  • Electrolyte levels to rule out salt/water imbalance
  • Venereal Disease Research Laboratory test (VDRL) and fluorescent treponemal antibody (FTA-ABS) to rule out neurosyphilis and Lyme disease
  • Allergy testing for allergy-mediated Meniere’s syndrome
  • C-reactive protein (CRP)

MRI of the brain - Should be done to rule out abnormal anatomy or mass lesions. Specifically, acoustic neuromas or other cerebellopontine angle lesions, multiple sclerosis, or Arnold-Chiari malformations, also can be ruled out. Note that mass lesions rarely are found but are important to exclude.

CT scan of the brain - They are done to detect possible dehiscence of the semicircular canals, congenital abnormalities, widened cochlear and vestibular aqueducts, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Audiometry - It is particularly helpful for documenting present hearing acuity and detecting future change.

Management -

  1. Vestibulosuppressants
  2. Diuretics and diuretic-like medications
  3. Steroids
  4. Aminoglycosides
  5. Histamine agonists
  6. Endolymphatic sac decompression or shunt
  7. Labyrinthectomy

Colonoscopy - When It Is Important To Go For It?

Colonoscopy - When It Is Important To Go For It?

Screening for cancer of the colon or large intestine and rectum is a proven way of saving a person from the impacts of colorectal diseases. This is partly because colon cancer is something that can be prevented if detected at an early stage and the polyps which may advance to cancer are removed properly. Thus if you are turning 50 soon, be prepared to present yourself for a screening colonoscopy that will help you ensure good health and well-being. It may sound uncanny, but do you know that 50,000 people across the world die from colorectal cancer every year, and it is ranked second in terms of cancer-centric deaths.

Understanding the importance of having colonoscopy: You may wonder how a painful, invasive, embarrassing, uncomfortable and time-consuming health test may be called a present. There are reasons enough. A screening colonoscopy is able to expose a cancerous tumour that's presently under way and cast light on the chances and risk factors that may precede it. When you choose to intervene early, you have the power to nip those risks at their budding stage, much before those malicious cells become malignant.

Spreading of the colorectal cancer: Your large intestine is really a big and last organ of the gastrointestinal system where the small intestine discontinues. Its primary function is to remove the water out of the leftover solids of digestion and get rid of them in the form of stool. Cancer may start to develop anywhere within the tube that expands 5 feet long and squares the vacant area of the abdomen. The large intestine expands up towards the right side, i.e. the ascending colon and then turns left through the liver, i.e., the transverse colon, bending down right at the spleen on its left, i.e. descending colon and loops to the middle, i.e., the sigmoid colon before it runs across the rectum and ends at the anus.

People who need a colonoscopy: To simplify matters, it can be said that all adults are at a potential risk of the colorectal cancer, including those people who lead a healthy life. But some people are at a higher risk. Those individuals have a specific gene mutation that predisposes them to develop into numerous polyps. The risk is also high with people who are first-degree relatives of a person diagnosed with cancer before the age of 50. People with Ulcerative colitis, various types of inflammatory bowel diseases and Crohn's disease are also at a higher risk.

Colorectal cancer is a serious ailment and screening colonoscopy is a feasible means of detecting any polyps that may be cancerous in the future. Speak with a reputed gastroenterologist today to stay ahead of the disease.
