How to improve your eating habits

You are what you eat, and this rings true for everyone. What you eat impacts your health the most, much more than any other thing. What you eat also depends on your environment and the people you share your life with. However, cultivating healthy eating habits does not require a lot of effort. Making small changes to your daily habits and lifestyle is the only way to improve your eating habits permanently- diets only provide temporary help.

Here are some changes to make to improve your eating habits:

- Incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods.

- If you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily.

- Don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat.

- Don't delay or skip meals.

- Cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas.

- Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated.

- Have homemade fruit and vegetable juices

- Eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism.

- Don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts.

- Avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods.

- Eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat.

- Use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating.

- Know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives.

- Do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating.

Eat easily availble fruits papaya, anar, apple, banana, guava and green vegetables- palak, maithi loki, tomato, carrot, and ahta ever is available in your area, dry fruits - almond and wall nut. Milk, egg, pulses,whole grain atta. No fried./ spicy processed, junk/ fast vfood contact on private chat for further advise and medicine.

Hi to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello, Empty calories are simply that they make you fat without any benefit provided nutritionally.1 gm of alcohol gives 7 kcal which is a complete waste.THey get stored in your body as fat and lead to further complications.

Firstly put 2 drops of warmed cow ghee in both your nostrils before sleeping, while sleeping make sure your head is in east or south direction and not west or north, in morning start doing brahambari pranayam 20 breathes for mental calmness, do not take tensions in your mind. Wake up early and once your sleep starts coming try to sleep no later than 11: 00 pm and wake before 6: 00 am. You are young play some sports because when you do workout your body gets tired and needs a sound sleep automatically your problem will be solved. Never take sleeping pills, its a poison in long run.

Start exercise regularly for 3 month and then after 3 month leave it for 3 month at the time of exercise your diet will increase but same diet continue after 3 month when you stop exercise so thats why your weight will increase automatically now we discus about diet 2.take dates with milk in the morning breakfast 3.triphala kadha 4 tsp beore lunch and dinner 4.amala juice 4 tsp + 2tsp sugar + 2tsp honey in the morning empty stomach this take for 1.5 month only your weight gain will take definitely note=avoid over eating. When you are trying to gain weight, you should eat food the rich in vitamins and minerals. 1. Healthy food includes meat, egg, milk, fruit vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Cashews, almonds, dates, walnuts, dry grapes, apricots, peaches are some of the dried fruits and nuts that can be added to breakfast, salads, cereal and desserts. Overeating is not the solution for weight gain. You shoukd take alfafa tonic thrice a day for one month and daily one glass banana shake and one glass mango shake. Revert after 15 days.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your problems could be due to weakness - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables including green leafy ones, whole grains, protein foods such as milk & milk products, eggs, soya beans, soy products, legumes including pulses & lentils, a handful of nuts - do regular exercise including walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, also do moderate weight lifting twice a week to build stamina & strength - also have 8-10 glasses of water for proper hydration - sleep well for 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed.

Hye, thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism along with your daily diet and exercise routine. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Weight gain is all about taking more calories than you burn. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. There is no one food that helps weight gain. Eat meals at frequent intervals. You need to eat at least 6 main and mid meals a day. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits, dry fruits, starchy vegetables, rice, bread, whole grain cereals, smoothies, masala milk, ghee, cream in your meals. Just eating sugary, sweet foods is not good. Try to have healthy deserts like kheer, chikki or lassi. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. It helps development of muscle mass and improves appetite. Even if you were to take just medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation. You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal and good exercise routine, it's crucial.
