I have been diagnosed with neurocysticercosis on Nov 23, 15 after having seizures and have been taking anti-seizure drugs since then. Thankfully, no episodes of seizure since then. I wanted to know if I can go for wisdom tooth extraction. Will I have any complication during the extraction procedure?

What is the brain hemorrhage?

DM - Neurology

Ask Free Question
'hemorrhage' is the scientific term for bleeding; brain hemorrhage is bleeding into the brain. There are 3 kinds: bleeding into the brain itself, or bleeding into two spaces around the brain - the sub-arachnoid space or the sub-dural space. The last one, sub-dural hemorrhage occurs most often following an injury, very occasionally after a long gap and can be very confusing. For example, trivial injury to a very elderly person can lead to bleeding into the sub-dural space months later, lead him into coma gradually and be only diagnosed only on a ct scan. Sub-arachnoid hemorrhage is usually catastrophic, starting with a headache like a bolt from the blue and striking the person down and many times leads to death. There are many treatments to be done, but it is a very complex and difficult disorder. Bleeding into the brain can be'minor' but in 25 % of the cases it is instantly fatal; another 25 % die within 30 days; and another 25% die within 1 year. That means 75% patients with brain hemorrhage die within 1 year - that's how serious it is! the most common causes of brain hemorrhage are age and high blood pressure.

Headaches due to migraine is very common these days especially in young adults because of there lifestyle and working environment. Sometimes pain is very severe on one side of the head.  So I would recommend you to avoid stress and anxiety, quiet the mind from distractions. Stay calm positive and do deep breathing exercises, listen some music that would give you some relaxation. If pain is severe then place ice pack over forehead and lie down for some time to relax your mind and give you comfort and stress full life. Massage your head using levander oil or clove oil as it removes toxins from body. You can use mint or clove spray for inhaling in case of headache. If pain is severe you can also apply ginger paste over the painful area. Avoid taking caffeine, alcohol, phenylethylamine (found in chocolate and cheese), tyramine (found in nuts and fermented meats, cheeses, and soy), and aspartame (in many artificially sweetened foods) as sometimes these all exaggerate pain instead use basil leaves tea or ginger tea boiled nicely in water without milk. Regular intake of healthy dietry food rich in proteins and vitamins. Avoid fasting - Eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at fixed timings. Make yourself busy by fulfilling your hobby as it will give you freshness and your mind will be diverted from normal life which help in pain reduction. Take min 7 hours of sleep. Make a habit of 20-25 min walking daily along with some meditations. In spinal physiotherapy we have mobilisation that can be given to patients if migraine is because of spinal involvement so as an advice you can meet some neuro or spinal physio who can give you SNAGs for treating your headache. And the results are immediate pain relief, observed in many patients. If required then only take pain relieving tablets. For more help or instructions please consult. Good Luck and Get Well Soon.

Understanding Autism.

Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects 1-2 people out of every 1,000 people worldwide. It is a wide spectrum disorder, so no two people with autism will have the exact same symptoms. There are those who function easily, those who are impaired and struggle to live normally and then there are others in between. Difficulties in communicating, social impairment and repetitive patterns of behaviour are some of the major symptoms that characterise autism and the related autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Read the following articles to gain a better understanding of this condition:

Diagnosing Autism

In order to create awareness and combat this problem, early diagnosis and social acceptance is necessary. Here's a brief on what we can do to recognise autism.

Decoding the Symptoms of Autism

Although there is no scientific cure for autism, its symptoms can be worked upon with the help of a communication or behavioural therapist.

Treatments for Autism

In this article, we chalk out the main treatments and therapies for curing autism in children and adolescents.

In conclusion, it’s important to treat these conditions not as disorders but to accept them as differences. Accept them in the same way we accept people of all races. These conditions are not caused by any disease or injury but because of genetics andenvironmental factors. Science suggests that neurological diversity has helped humans throughout their evolution to survive in the environment. It’s possible that those affected might just come up with solutions for problems that might escape those with normal brain wiring. Not because they’re necessarily smarter, or better, but because they think differently.  So it’s necessary to accept, respect and accommodate those with such conditions.  To care, not repair is the outlook we should have for the betterment of mankind.
