Sir iam a body builder since at the age 25 but I dont have any progress in it, I cant do heavy workout because I get joint pain and muscle catch while workingout with my weights please suggest me a good diet, is sweet potato good for me during my workouts.

Hi, Yes you can have sweet potato during workouts, this is very healthy for us as it is a rich source of vit.A,B6.C. iron and magnesium, potassium etc. You can also start the below medication to gain some weight:- 1. Take alfalfa tonic(wsi), 2 – 2 tsp. Thrice a day, half an hour before meals. 2. Calcarea phos 200, 5 drops , once in aweek , morning empty stomach for 2 weeks. 3. Take eggs, milk, butter, bananas, potatoes, mangoes, figs, oats, soyabean and dry fruits.

I suggest you easy method of weight gain just follow it for year you will gain weigh defiantly 1. Start exercise regularly for 3 month and then after 3 month leave it for 3 month at the time of exercise your diet will increase but same diet continue after 3 month when you stop exercise so thats why your weight will increase automatically now we discus about diet 2.take dates with milk in the morning breakfast 3.triphala kadha 4 tsp beore lunch and dinner 4.amala juice 4 tsp + 2tsp sugar + 2tsp honey in the morning empty stomach this take for 1.5 month only your weight gain will take definitely note=avoid over eating. When you are trying to gain weight, you should eat food the rich in vitamins and minerals. 1. Healthy food includes meat, egg, milk, fruit vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Cashews, almonds, dates, walnuts, dry grapes, apricots, peaches are some of the dried fruits and nuts that can be added to breakfast, salads, cereal and desserts. Sesame seeds, ground nuts, and peanuts also contain fats in them and can help in adding that extra pounds you desire. 2. Sometimes loss of appetite may also cause weight loss. So you should take following remedies improving weight A]triphala kadha 4tsp before lunch and dinner B]amala juice 4 tsp + sugar 2 tsp+ honey 2 tsp empty stomach in the morning umami flavor increases satiety and enhances appetite. Due to improving hunger and digestion whatever you will eat more and even you eat more it will digest properly and your weight will increase naturally without any supplement.

You can exercise just like a normal person. You can do a mix of cardiovascular and weight training exercise. Start with a very low intensity but gradually increase the intensity. As you keep exercising it will keep you fitter and stronger.

Kindly get an x-ray done of the tooth having pain. May be you will have to get root canal treatment done followed by a crown or cap. Till then you can take a pain killer like tab dentaforce dt 2 tablets dissolved in water. Brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique to maintain your oral hygiene. Kindly get the cavity filled before it becomes deep and painful.

Hi, I would suggest you not to take any medicines! as you are 28yrs. Of age now and gaining height further is not at all possible as ossification of bones (bones get joined or fully grown) is already taken place!

Dirt, pollution will affect the hair. It will clog the pores on the scalp and will lead to dandruff. In this condition it is very important to oil the scalp and wash it regularly. Oiling has to be 3/week and washing everyday with mild scalp cleanser. Wearing scarf will help you to reduce exposure to dirt, dust. Hair fall will reduce as you will start oiling and washing. If it doesn't settle then it is important to consult trichologist.

Your total bilirubin is very high. It could be due to jaundice. Do liver function test, take usg abdomen, do complete hemogram and consult physician with report for advice and treatment 1. Take bland diet, avoid spicy, oily and fatty food like oil, ghee, butter, cream. He should have soft, easily digestible foods like suji, dhalia, porridge, curd rice. Avoid alcohol 2. Drink plenty of water, take resh fruit like orange, apple, pineapple, grape, papaya, mango. Fruit juice, sugar cane juice, coconut water. Have plenty of green leafy vegetables 3. Take adequate rest at least for 2 week 4. Take liv 52 2 tablet twice daily after food 5. Monitor your lft for serum bilirubin 6. Consult gastroenterologist/hepatologist for advice and treatment.

Hi lybrate-user 1. Reduce your portions by using smaller plates, asking for a small ice cream cone, beverage or sandwich instead of a large, splitting main dish at a restaurant with a friend or ordering a lunch-size portion even at dinner. It’s better to take a fixed portion on to the plate and not eat directly from the serving bowl. Do you know just 2 cookies or small biscuits more than your requirement in a day will make you put on 5 Kgs in a year and 25 Kgs in 5 years? So we need to take care of our serving sizes. 2. Increase the volume. Choose low-fat, high-fiber foods which fill you up with minimal calories. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes are high-volume foods that not only help trim your waistline but also provide nutrients essential for health. 3. Add fruits and vegetables to all your meals. Add one fruit or vegetable to every meal, and you'll be on your way to lower blood pressure and improved health. Try apples for breakfast, raw cucumber or carrots with lunch and fruit salad with dinner. 4. Hydrate yourself. Get a water bottle and carry it with you everywhere you go. You'll find yourself drinking water while you're driving, at your desk, during meetings and watching TV. Drinking water instead of coffee, soda, fruit punch or other sweetened beverages saves calories as it keeps your body functioning optimally. Drinking lukewarm water is even better. 5. Go Vegan majorly. Eat meatless meals for at least 5 days per week or more. Choose a paneer/mushroom curry instead of chicken or mutton curry, vegetable sandwich in place of a chicken sandwich, veggie burger instead of hamburger. You'll consume less fat and saturated fat, plus increase your fiber intake! 6. Enhance your Breakfast Studies show people who start the day with breakfast cereal have higher intakes of vitamins and fiber and lower intakes of fat and saturated fat. For the healthiest cereal, choose one with at least five grams of fiber and no more than eight grams sugar per serving. Pour on skim milk for a double bonus! 7. Don’t eat before the tube Stop eating meals while watching TV or snacking during your favorite show. Research plus common sense tells us we eat more when we're watching the tube. 8. Not 3 but 5. Have at least 5 small meals a day in place of 3 big ones to keep your metabolic rate high which in turn helps in weight loss. A good day’s diet should have small and frequent meals i.e.5 meals in the day rather than 3 big meals. We need to learn to have the Best Breakfast, Nutritious Midmorning snack, Good Lunch, Light Evening snack with beverage and an Early Dinner every day. 9. Pack your meals. Instead of buying lunch every day, or worse yet, skipping lunch altogether, pack your lunch as far as possible. Make a sandwich with whole grain bread, a chapatti roll with lots of veggies, salad like sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, and grated carrots. Add a piece of fresh fruit. Satisfy your sweet tooth with yogurt or fat-free pudding and your need for crunch with soya sticks, murmura ,almonds ,or may be just a little ‘saunf’(fennel seeds). You'll save money and eat less fat, salt and sugar. 10. Do not fast, do not feast. Neither skip meals nor have everything in one meal. We need to learn to eat when we are hungry & stop when sufficiently full. We need to learn to self-regulate.

It is a common trend among youngsters to smoke weed as they tend to think it makes them look cool. It is a common misconception that smoking pot relieves various social and personal problems. It is used as a form of escape mechanism that allows them to avoid problems in life.

The usual reasons why people turn to smoking pot are:

  1. Peer pressure: You may have friends who smoke weed on a regular basis, so you may be tempted to join in.
  2. Boredom: It is a usual resort to escape from boredom or craving excitement. It is said that smoking weed helps in filling the internal void that results from lack of excitement.
  3. Rebellion: Weed has also been connected and continues to be a symbol of rebellion among today's teenagers and youngsters.

Risks:

  1. Smoking weed has been shown to shrink the size of the orbitofrontal cortex, a region of the brain that is important in making decisions and processing emotions.
  2. It can alter your mood, hamper body movement and impairs your ability to concentrate and execute tasks.
  3. It increases your risk of getting affected by phlegm and cough.
  4. The long term effects of marijuana comprises of impaired learning and thinking skills.
  5. It also affects the process where new connections are formed in the brain.
  6. Regular weed smokers have also been shown to have lower IQ levels comparatively.
  7. Apart from the mental effects, it may also cause breathing discomforts as the smoke may irritate the lungs.
  8. It also increases the chances of heart attack in the elderly.
  9. Weed has also been reported to impact the fetus if a pregnant woman smokes it.
  10. It raises the risk of behavioral problems in children.
  11. The complications that a child may face are impaired problem solving skills, attention and memory related disorders.

Thus, it is important to stay away from smoking weed as it is addictive and increases your chances of getting affected by numerous health complications.

I am 24 year old male. Out of excitement I tried a small (very small) edible portion of cannabis for the first time. I felt weird after few hours. My heart raced and I got scared and approached a physician. He said it is ok and gave tablet for headache. I couldn't able to sleep well at that night. I felt like my heart is going to explode and woke up multiple time to urinate just to flush it out of my body. The effects of cannabis is gone, but the pounding heart persisted for a week and I couldn't able to sleep well. Over the week the pounding heart got normal during day, but back when I lie down. I consulted a psychiatrist, he prescribed agomelatine. Now pounding heart problem got controlled even when I lie down. But I couldn't able to sleep well. I woke up 2-4 times almost everyday. I also developed anxiety because of this. I got racing thoughts in my mind, mostly negative. I feel scared of almost everything. I feel so scared at dorm. So, I came back to my home where I feel somehow safe. I took a leave of absence from my university for few weeks. Sometimes I am even scared of whether I could get good sleep or not. I am so obsessed with it right now. Sometimes I sleep for like 5-6 hrs. Yet I feel sleepless. I can't able to concentrate on anything because of this and I feel like a different person. In an article, I found that some compounds in cannabis can trigger preexisting mental conditions like anxiety disorder. I had anxiety disorder like condition before for which I took some treatment and got cured. I have not felt this anxious before. I am scared whether I am loosing control etc. What can I do further to get myself back. I need to stop racing thoughts and worries. I also want to get my sleep back before it affects my studies. Anyone who have experience in such cases please help me.

I got typhoid 1 week back and I got admitted to hospital from then onwards I couldn't sleep in the night or day always I will be wake up anytime if I close my eyes for a while also I am not getting sleep.

First thing that should be done in this problem is to improve sleep hygiene. - Fix your time to go to sleep. - Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee in evening - Light exercise will also help in getting good sleep - Use your bed for sleeping only and don't watch TV, read books on bed - Avoid day time naps - If you fail to sleep within 10 minutes of going to bed, get up and start to distract yourself. - Bath with warm water in evening will help. Try to improve sleep hygiene and if condition don't improve consult a psychiatrist or sleep specialist. Medicines like Benzodiazepines like Clonazepam, Alprazolam etc help in getting good sleep. Z-drugs like zolpidem or zopiclone also help in getting good sleep. These drugs have abuse potential so should be taken for short time only and under proper prescription. Thanks, hope this helps you.

Weight gain can be a time-consuming process. But you have to be patient and practice it correctly. Include Calories In Your Diet like pulses, cereals, meat, bread, rice, dry fruits, and nuts, Increase The Number Of Meals. High Proteins Along With Calories Like Eggs, lean meat, fish, skinless chicken, pulses, sprouts, and dairy products that rich sources of proteins. Vaginal Itching and Irritation - 6 Common Causes Behind it

The human body is host to many microbes such as bacteria, fungi and other organisms. These organisms are natural to the body and are required for many functions. The female reproductive organ or the vagina is one such organ that is home to many such bacteria that help in maintaining the correct vaginal pH balance, the ultimate requisite for a healthy vagina. 

However, if this delicate balance within the various micro-organisms is disrupted, it may cause problems such as irritation and itching.

Causes of vaginal itching and irritation

  1. Yeast infection: Just like bacteria, yeast is also present within the vagina and is required for a healthy pH balance within it. However, due to various factors, this balance can go topsy-turvy, thus causing yeast infections. The infections may cause a thick white discharge along with excessive itching and irritation.
  2. Skin irritation due to foreign products or contact dermatitis: This problem can occur on the skin of your body as well as the vagina. Dermatitis or irritation may be caused due to perfumes, products such as tampons, or sanitary napkins, detergents used to wash underwear, lubricants, and condoms among others.
  3. Common vaginal infections or bacterial vaginosis: This is the most common form of vaginal infection that women have reported to their gynaecologists. Just like yeast infections occur due to an imbalance in the level of healthy fungi within the vagina, bacterial vaginosis occurs when there is an imbalance with the levels of healthy bacteria within the body.
  4. Sexually transmitted disease or infections: This is also a very common reason for vaginal itching and irritation. Some of the common STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) or infections such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Genital herpes can all cause irritation and in most cases, will result in itching. Pubic lice, also commonly referred to as crabs, can cause itching and are mostly transferred through sexual contact.
  5. Hormonal changes within the body: This is another common and major factor for changes within the human body and can especially create problems within the female reproductive systems. If you start or stop taking contraceptive pills, have irregular periods, are pregnant or approaching menopause, your hormones may fluctuate a lot. This will result in changes within the vagina and thus, may cause itching and irritation.
  6. Skin disorders such psoriasis and eczema: Certain underlying conditions within the body may cause problems, such as psoriasis and eczema. These may end up causing infections near the vagina and result in itchiness and irritation as well.

Treatments

Although you can try out home remedies, it is advisable to go to a doctor and get yourself checked for either gynaecological issues or underlying physiological issues which may be causing the problems in the first place. Some of the medications that could be prescribed to you could be anti-inflammatory drugs as well as antibiotics, either in the form of oral medications or topical ointments. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

Blood Group Diet - Understanding the Pros and Cons

It was believed by Dr Peter D’Adamo that the unique antigen markers of different blood group types react to different kinds of food. The consumption of the wrong kind of food may lead to various health conditions. The right kind of food, when consumed according to the blood types can help prevent chronic diseases, maintain an optimum body weight and act as defence against a large number of diseases. It was also believed that stomach acid levels and digestive enzymes are related to blood types.

Blood type diet:

  1. Blood Type A should only consume a vegetarian, in fact vegan diet.
  2. Blood Type B is recommended a balanced diet of meat, dairy products and vegetables.
  3. Blood Type O should consume high amounts of animal protein along with lots of fruits and vegetables. The carbohydrate, dairy and wholegrain intake must be low.
  4. Blood Type AB should stick to a vegetarian diet mostly, with occasional inclusions of meat and dairy products.

Pros of a diet based on blood group

  1. Food that agrees with your body system is essentially beneficial to your body.
  2. Blood type dieting makes exercising the most important part of your daily health regimen. This helps to promote fitness.
  3. It is effective as far as weight loss is concerned.
  4. It discourages the consumption of processed food and junk meals. Healthy fresh vegetables, fruits or dairy products will always be beneficial.
  5. Does not allow the intake of fatty, sugary food items.
  6. You can choose different food for your diet from a variety of food items suitable for your blood type.

Cons of a diet based on blood group

  1. It does not include food from all food groups.
  2. Many nutritionists and scientists have not been able to establish a connection between blood type and food suitability.
  3. Cutting out certain essential food groups can be quite dangerous.
  4. The theory of Dr D’Adamo is quite questionable and disputable. It does not have a medical backing.
  5. Following this diet can be quite tedious.
  6. There can be varying results from following such diet and this makes it difficult to analyse the outcome of following such diets. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.
