Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You should take Sulf. 30 one dz. daily empty stomach for three days and call back . Do massage one inch above the knee and one inch below the knee and hollow portion under the knee with any oil at night 15 times each point. Call back.

Avoid long sitting tk muscle relaxant medicine and heat fermentation twice a day avoid toward bending tk a soft pillow for back support if it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment must for you.

Dear Sir, Hi I am from Mumbai. My mother having some back pain issue since 15 years. We have done many treatments like stretching and some kind of physiotherapy. Currently she has suffer by right body pain (right leg, right hand, right side of neck & right side of back) even she couldn't seat easily. We have done MRI &Dr says that her right side nerve cramp in vertebrae also there is gap between back & neck bones of vertebral column. Dr. suggest for operation but we decide some physiotherapy & after 2 months she now feeling well, now she don't have right side pain. But problem is now she is suffer by left side body pain & she still not recover. We have done same physiotherapy on left side also but after 1 month treatment there is no any improvement observed. Some Dr. Says try to avoid operation because it is not safe for patient. Kindly suggest what we can do to recover in this situation & will be safe for patient also. It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. Id she has not had any injury to the knee then at this age it is most likely to be degenerative pathology. This needs to be confirmed with xrays. Blood investigation to rule out inflammatory arthritis may be required if there is family history of ra. The first line of management in degenerative knee pain is conservative with physiotherapy and pain control with over the counter simple analgesic.

I am 32 years old 2 months back I had a fall due to which I sprained my right knee badly. Till now I can't fold my knee fully. But when I went to the doctor with my xray he said it is the starting of arthritis. Please suggest me any homeopathy medicine for permanent cure.

You might be suffering from shin splints. After jogging or running (specially for beginners) the muscles and flesh along the edge of the shin bone become inflamed, so it hurts to walk, run, or jump. Jogging on hard surfaces can bring this on. You are more likely to get shin splints if you have flat feet or your feet turn outward. Some tips to deal with this condition : 1.Rest your legs, do not jog when in pain. 2. Ice pack application for 10 mins at least 4 times a day. 3. Anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen to be taken round the clock for 3 days. 4. Stretching and warm up to be done before jogging or running. 5. Gradual and step wise increase in physical activity. 6. Avoid running on hard surfaces. 7. Wear good quality running shoes. For further queries please consult again.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Do some stretching exercises of upper back and lateral sides. Sometimes muscle sores develop, it can be due to one side sleeping or lying, sitting incorrect position for long time. Muscle gets tight so before running do warmup exercises of body also. Take hot water formentation too.

When there is no proper nutrition supply to muscle due to skipping of regular meals or fasting there is a chance for leg pain at night. Because of lack of nutrition during a normal or more workload to muscles, the muscles will not cope with the demand. So there will be deposition of waste products, lactic acid in muscle. This is will create cramp and pain when you go for sleep.
