Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

For most low back pain treatments, active exercise is the focus of the physical therapy programDepending upon the patient's specific diagnosis and level of pain, the back pain exercises andrehabilitation programs will be very different, so it is important for patients to see a spine specialist trained to develop an individualized program of back exercises and to provide instruction on using the correct form and techniqu. Most of us will suffer from back or neck pain at some stage during our lives. The good news is, however, in most cases the pain is not serious in nature and can be remedied. Postural related back pain generally stems from sitting for long periods with overloaded or tight back and pelvic muscles. For example, if your rear thigh muscles (hamstrings) are tight, when you sit they will pull the pelvis out of position and increase tension on the lower back muscles. This in turn overstretches your back muscles and with lengthy periods of sitting will cause pain. This is one example of many variations of postural related back pain. However, one thing will be in common, progressively developing back pain from long periods of overstretched and overloaded back muscles and ligaments. When you first start to develop postural back pain it manifests itself as a low grade ache which tends to be relieved with light exercise or avoiding sitting. But after a while the pain increases and tends to be there most of the time regardless of what you do. It should be noted that a small percentage of back pain is caused by more serious conditions like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression. Symptoms that suggest a more serious back problem are leg pains, pins and needles or weakness in your leg or foot. These symptoms need to be properly assessed by a Chartered Physiotherapist So what can you so to reduce back or neck pain? Firstly, break the cycle of sitting for long periods by getting up and moving around every 20 minutes or so and by introducing simple movements that can by Done at anytime, even when sitting (see below). Secondly, a daily routine of stretching and relaxing tight thigh (hamstring) and buttock (gluteal) muscles will help to prevent overloading your lower back muscles when sitting. Thirdly, reduce back or neck pain by relaxing the surrounding muscles and ligament by introducing the following routine 2-3 times a day: 1.Apply heat to the back muscles. A shower, massage or hot water bottle works best. This will help to relax the muscles. 2.Release and relax back muscles through massage, use of a tennis ball or foam roller for 5 to 10 minutes twice daily – purchase a foam roller from www. Physiosupplies. Com/exercise/foam-rollers Here is a video of foam rolling on YouTube 3.Apply movement to the lower back muscles using the suggested exercises below. About a minute of each 3 or 4 times a day will help to recover the overloaded lower back muscles. If you have recurrent attack of headache1. It could be a tension headache due to anxiety/stress, depression inadequate sleep, low bp/high bp, migraine, prolonged use of cell phone/computer, chronic anaemia, refractive error, chronic sinusitis, organic brain lesion 2. Avoid stress, physical and mental exertion, have adequate sound sleep for 7-8 hours daily in the night 3. Go for regular exercise 4. Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress 5. Check for refractive error, sinusitis hemoglobin, bp 6. Avoid prolonged use of cell phone/computer 7. Consult neurologist to rule out other causes of headache, if required take a ct scan of head to exclude any brain lesion 8. If it is migraine you have to take migraine prophylactic drug after consulting neurologist.

Also you will have to bring your alcohol levels down as your uric acid levels are high. There are ways to keep your uric acid value in body to low levels. General recommendations are: - decreasing intake of red meat, alcohol, rice in your diet and other purine rich sources - also increase your water intake so that uric acid is excreted from body well. - keeping your weight to normal levels will also help you. - intake of fresh fruits, citrus fruits and cherries has been implicated in reducing uric acid values in the body as well. Nowadays there is a medication by the name of febuxostat which helps in lowering uric acid levels in body but kindly check out that it suits your body. Definitely there is good treatment in homeopathy So try that. Surgery is last option. But in most of the cases it is not even required.

Dear lybrate-user good that you are doing exercise. Please go ahead gradually so that you do not injure your back. You can learn yoga and pranayam and practice on daily basis. If you get pain apply ice. For 20 min and avoid pain killers.

Dear Dilip, first you be relax, keep all the tension worries a side. think about whole day work, you do you observation of your small activities. see in which positions you are having much pain? try to avoid that. Take some ergonomic advice. Keep one small pillow just beneath your buttocks, if your curvature of spine has changed, then you will get good relief. just do warm water pouring. Give maximum rest to your back muscle but dont avoid your activities of daily living. Just do with pace with slowness. Dont do forcely.

I have a swelling in my knee for a month.

Kindly show me digital x rays of knee. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful do hot fomantation. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days bio d3 max 1tab od x10 it may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hi = relax and stay positive. = increase fluid intake. = eat seasonal fruits for natural vitamins = do streching of hamstring, quadriceps, and calf muscles. = if you are overweight, reduce weight by cycling or swimming as it gives low impact on joints. = do check your calcium and vit. D = apply moist heat pad to affected joint and muscles. If still you dont get relief consult physiotherapist as there are various causes for leg/ joint pain and some test may be required for further investigation. Best wishes.

Knee Pain - 8 Effective Ways to Manage it

Knee pain is a common phenomenon that plagues most of the people irrespective of their age. It can be the outcome of a torn cartilage or a ruptured ligament. Medical complications, such as infections, gout or arthritis (painful inflammation and stiffness of the joints) can also give way to knee pain. Minor knee pain can be eased by self-care remedies such as physical therapy or by putting on knee braces. However, few complications might demand surgical repair. Pain can be managed by the pain management specialists.

Tips to manage knee pain

1. Medications such as naproxen, ibuprofen and acetaminophen can be administered to help remedy knee pain.
2. You can seek relief by massaging your knees with ointments constituting of a number of agents such as capsaicin or lidocaine.
3. Keep away from your usual chores to prevent repetitive strains on the knees, thus, allowing the injury to heal as well as to stay safe from further damage.
4. Applying an ice pack in a towel can ease the inflammation and pain. But do not extend its usage for more than 20 minutes because that might harm the skin and nerves.
5. Compression bandages can inhibit fluid accumulation in the damaged tissues aiding knee alignment stability. Ensure that it is tight enough to render support to your knees without actually obstructing blood circulation.
6. To pacify the swelling, try resting your sore leg on a pillow (the idea here is to keep the affected leg elevated to reduce further pain).
7. Shed off your extra pounds as being overweight increases chances of other disorders such as osteoarthritis problem.
8. Go for regular work outs to enhance and maintain the flexibility of your muscles as excessively weak or abnormally tight muscles can contribute to injuries. For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

Chances of having nerve compression are likely, these areas are supplied by lumbar and sacral nerves. Have to do MRI LUMBOSACRAL SPINE give u accurate diagnosis and then we'll think of treatment, in between can start with TAB. PREGALIN M 75 mg ( PREGABALIN AND METHYLCOBALAMIN COMBINATION ) One tab in evening x 30 days. This will decrease neurological pain and numbness.
