Hi, This is a usual problem with desk bound jobs. Try to add 30 mins of exercise every day in the morning. Aim to remain fit and young for life. Don't look for shortcuts to lose weight. Take more fruits and water. Be more active. Walk to the market etc. Take this as a challenge. All the best

Please follow the below recommendation for your condition: Diet, exercise, and behavioral modification should be included in all obesity management approaches for body mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m 2 or higher. Other tools, such as pharmacotherapy for BMI of 27 kg/m 2 or higher with comorbidity or BMI over 30 kg/m2 and bariatric surgery for BMI of 35 kg/m2 with comorbidity or BMI over 40 kg/m 2, should be used as adjuncts to behavioral modification to reduce food intake and increase physical activity when this is possible. HI…reason behind obesity is decreased BMR (BASAL METABOLIC RATE), 1) so question is HOW BMR DECREASED…. BMR is mainly depends upon functions of LIVER, THYROID, PANCREASE, and PITUITORY GLAND, A) hypo- functions of these organs reduces BMR and body becomes obese, B) hyper- functions of these organs increases BMR and body becomes lean, C) so if you want to reduce weight then we have to increase BMR, D) so to increase BMR follow few basic things, 1) take solid food two times in a day only, 2) try to take diet which is easy to digest and according to quantity of hunger, 3) eat those fruits only which increases power of digestion and which easily digests LIKE…grapes, pappya, orange, pomgrenate, sweet lime, pineapple, watermelon, muskmelon, strawberry, mulberry, 4) strictly avoid fruits which are hard to digests like banana, guava, custardapple, chiku, jackfruit, 5) Try to take soups of green gram, lentil, horse gram, 6) try to take meals inbetween 10 am to 9 pm, 7) when you take meal do not eat anything for minimum 4 hours…. Hi, according to your height your weight is normal. If you want lose weight. So I advice you, you should go for brisk walk in the morning. Do regular exercise at least 15-20 minutes daily. Take lukewarm water with lemon in the morning. Take salad before meals. Drink more water in a day. Don't take rice at night and don't skip breakfast. Avoid junk food and oily food. Take small and frequent meal.

1) If you are taking meal 2 times a day, you can have the same 4 times in divided doses. 2) Try to avoid gluten containing food like bread, pizza, and burger. 3) Always eat fresh food. 4) No oily & junk food. 5) You can have sprouts, salads, fruits or fruit juice in breakfast rather than bread, toast or artificial protein shake. 6) Don’t eat immediately after exercise or yoga. 7) Stretching exercises 10 minutes. 8) Brisk walk 5 km daily or 25 minutes 9) Yoga- surya namaskar & different yogasana for 25 minutes.

Running and gymming only will not help you. You should go for some kind of floor excersice if you want to have inch loss. Go for lunges, jumping lunges, sqauts and doggy leg excersice it will not only tone up your leg muscle but also help you in inch loss.

Obesity is a growing concern worldwide with an increasingly large number of people being diagnosed as obese every year. This is closely linked to the type of lifestyle that we are attuned to; less active and more sedentary.
If you are obese, you need to lose those pounds quickly; obesity increases the risk of various cardiac diseases and metabolic disorders. Fat loss is a gradual process that involves making changes to your lifestyle and dietary habits. Some changes that you can make to lose those stubborn inches off your waist are:

  1. Eat small but frequent meals: Generally, eating three large meals a day is what you follow. However, it is advised to eat smaller meals at least six times in a day. Eating smaller and frequent meals tends to up your metabolism thus, increasing your overall calorie burn.
  2. Cardio: Cardio is the way to go, if you want to lose fat, especially high intensity interval training. This is a form of exercise that involves doing an exercise, preferably compound exercises for a short burst of time (30 – 40 seconds) at full throttle, followed by a short rest period (10-15 seconds) and then repeating the process. This elevates your heart rate and keeps your metabolic rate elevated for up to 48 hours after your workout.
  3. Pick your foods wisely: The food you eat is important in determining how you lose your fat. Focus on eating a high protein, low carbohydrate and a moderate fat diet. Limit sugar intake to prevent blood sugar spikes. Focus on eating natural foods instead of junk foods as they have plenty of hidden calories.
  4. Be active: A sedentary lifestyle can hamper your fat loss process. Sitting in your office for long durations and watching television being glued to the couch are all linked with higher levels of obesity. Take frequent breaks from work and go for a stroll outside.
  5. Unwind: You may adopt relaxation techniques in your daily life, such as meditation to reduce stress as stress may lead to latent and sudden weight gain. Take up hobbies which can keep your brain involved and avoid stressful activities as much as you can. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Gaining weight is as difficult as losing it, if you are naturally thin. Skinny people complain that they can't put on any weight.If you want to build up weight, don't just eat high-calorie junk foods and rely on unnecessary supplements. Choose foods that are energy-dense and nutrient-dense whenever possible. Following are some tips to follow to increase your weight. You will take some time to gain the weight you need, but be patient. 1. If you have a rapid metabolism, then you must increase your daily intake of healthy foods (increase your intake of carbohydrates) to compensate for the rate at which you burn energy. Eat six smaller meals a day You should also eat more energy dense foods like healthy oils, dry fruits, seeds, nuts, pulses, etc. along with some starchy foods like potatoes, cereals, bread, pasta, rice, etc. 2. Consume more calories than you burn. Choose healthy calorie-dense food to add calories. Drink healthy beverages to add calories. Mangoes are rich in calories and carbohydrates, include them in your diet. 3. Eat healthy food frequently, 5-6 times a day - 3 larger meals and 3 smaller meals alternately. Separate them by at least 3 hours so you can digest each meal fully. Don't go without food for 5-6 hours after having a major meal. For example, if you wish to consume 3000 calories a day, you may eat 3 larger meals of about 650 calories and 3 smaller meals of about 450 calories. 4. Have a balanced diet. 5. Exercise regularly for putting on weight. Some thin people think that exercise is not good for them. This is not true, it keeps the metabolism high. Remember that eating alone is not sufficient. You don't want to gain fat but lean mass, so exercise is important. Resistance training exercises will help to increase your muscle mass, which in turn will increase metabolism. Learn to distinguish between weight gaining exercises and weight loss exercises. Note that if you do not get enough amino acids during exercise, the existing muscle may break down. Amino acids come from protein foods so you should eat such foods after exercise. Keep in mind that excessive exercise without putting back the energy you have used will not help you to put on weight.

Best way to reduce fat is exercise and diet control....take pranacharya medohar rasayn twice a day....medohar guggul 2-2 twice a day....and pranacharya slim capsule 1-1 twice a day...avoid junk food...oily food...fermented food..alcohol consumption..sugar....milk products and sweets....take oats and cereals more..and do pranayama early in the morning and walk for atleast 45 minutes a day...and do exercises....dont sleep immediately after taking meal...

Hello Doctor, I want to loose weight and for I need your advice regarding my diet. I start my day with a glass of tea which has green tea, guava leaves, lemon grass, tulsi leaves all boiled together mixed with lemon juice and honey. After an hour, Then I have an apple with 5 soaked almonds and 1 anjeer. After an hour, I have breakfast which constitutes of sooji upma/ poha/ sevai upma etc. After 2 hrs I have 2-3 types of fruits one each. Then after 2 hrs I have a glass of mixed vegetables juice. After 2 hrs I have some fruits and then at 7-7: 30 pm I have my dinner which constitutes of 2 roti, any dry vegetable, a bowl of daal and an onion. Please let me know whether I need to change my diet plan. Thanks in advance.

Hi lybrate-user, pls do not give very long gaps in your meals. There is a long gap between your lunch and dinner meals. Second thing, your are keeping your lunch lighter and dinner is comparitively more than lunch. Better swap your lunch and dinner options as dinner should be lighter. Our metabolism gets sluggish by the end of the day so it takes more time to digest in night. You should also incorporate some of the other herbs like flax seeds, curry leaves etc for your health issues like pcod. Hope this will help. Regards.
