Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Dear lybrate user, shin splint can be taken care with the application of sports (kinesio) taping/ rigid tape application, consult a sports physio for the same. Ice application at the affected area will help reducing pain (2-3/day). About bow legs- consult a orthotist to provide you lateral wedges, leg exercises to strengthen muscles is must. See a local physio for the same. Tc.

Swollen knee

A swollen knee occurs when excess fluid accumulates in or around your knee joint. Your doctor might refer to this condition as an effusion in your knee joint. Some people call this condition "water on the knee."

A swollen knee may be the result of trauma, overuse injuries, or an underlying disease or condition. To determine the cause of the swelling, your doctor might need to obtain a sample of the fluid to test for infection, disease or injury.

Removing some of the fluid also helps reduce the pain and stiffness associated with the swelling. Once your doctor determines the underlying cause of your swollen knee, appropriate treatment can begin.
Symptoms
Signs and symptoms typically include:

Swelling. The skin around your kneecap can puff up noticeably, especially when you compare the affected knee to the normal one.
Stiffness. When your knee joint contains excess fluid, you might not be able to bend or straighten your leg completely.
Pain. Depending on the cause of the fluid buildup, the knee might be very painful — to the point that it's difficult or impossible to bear weight on it.
When to see a doctor

See your doctor if:

Self-care measures or prescribed medications don't relieve the pain and swelling
One knee becomes red and feels warm to the touch compared to your other knee

Hi The back pain only in the morning or whole day. Do one thing i do strengthen exercise for back pain. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor (a). Using both hands, pull up one knee and press it to your chest (b). Hold for 15 to 30 seconds. Return to the starting position (a) and repeat with the opposite leg (c). Return to the starting position and then repeat with both legs at the same time (d). Repeat each stretch two to three times . preferably once in the morning and once at night. Try this ok

Hello lybrate user- recurrent pimple problems might be a start to skin disease. Try these tips - a) use mahamanjisthadi kwath 2 tsp twice daily with water. B) tab gandhak rasayana 1 tab twice daily. C) avoid fast foods and drinks water in proper quantity. D) apply multani mitti lepa daily and use ayurvedic face wash three to four times a day.

Avoid lifting heavy weights, improve your posture, avoid sitting for long hours, you need to do spinal muscle strengthening exercises, and do it consistently, to get results, you should also try this - to reduce your back pain.

Shoulder pain k liye I usually give this exercise when the patient has a clear reduction in pain with the use of the Scapular Assistance Test as described by Jeremy Lewis (source) or in those that I think have poor scapular movement, although links to scapular position and movement causing pain and pathology is tenuous (see Chris Littlewoods piece on this here), as is our ability to spot it. However, most people I see with classical sub acromial pain tend to have weak posterior shoulder muscles and this is a great exercise to start addressing this. The prone Y lift is simply done by lying on your front, on a bed or bench, with your arm hanging over the edge, then lift the arm up and out to raise it above your head, and I like to instruct that the thumb is on top pointing upwards to ensure the shoulder is in external rotation (see image below). Again as with the isometrics the exact angle of the lift can be varied, but for best results the research says 120° of abduction produces the stongest contraction in the supraspinatus (source) and upper/lower trapezius muscles (source). I also place a big emphasis on the eccentric action of this an most all other shoulder exercises. Eccentrics are known to produce higher forces in musculotendious units than concentric actions and maintain or increase myofibril length, all essential and positive effects of rehab.

I am 78 yrs. Suffering from knee-joint pain perticularly right knee from last two yrs. What should I do?

Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Press the point on the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from toe in the foot 20 times by pressing and releasing with a blunt edge of a pen. Further rotate your foot clockwise and anticlockwise 10 times. Massage your leg with both hands. Please report the progress after 5 days.

Renal stones have multiple reasons. Most common one is low water intake. But ideally that's only a minor cause and is not the real reason behind stone formation. Stone formation happens due to disturbed mineral metabolism in the body and hence they start accumulating and forming into a stone. So we are advised to reduce coconut water and seed variety vegetables and so on. But the problem is not with the foods but with the body. Usual treatment and management of stones is towards removing the stone by either surgical procedure or medicines that will reduce the size, but to prevent we are advised to reduce or stop foods that contain calcium etc. But what you need is medicine that can correct your body's metabolism so that it doesn't allow calcium to accumulate. The shin splint pain can be caused by.. -Irritated and swollen muscles, often from overuse -Stress fractures, which are tiny breaks in the lower leg bones -Overpronation or ''flat feet" -- when the impact of a step makes your foot's arch collapse -Weakness in stabilizing muscles of the hips or core * do ROM exercise or consult physiotherapist for detailed treatment plan.

Most likely he has rickets, for the confirmation of which we will need to get an xray done of the wrist and his knees to see for the status of his metaphsyis. Take him for early morning walks alongwith you and allow him to remain in the sunshine for about an hour. Feed him lots of milk and kindly consult an orthopedician to get prescription for the calcium and vit. D supplements. Teh deformity looks unsightly but it goes away entirely as his stores of vit. D and calcium will get replenished. Hope this helpps.

Reasons can be-* *sitting in inconvenient posture constantly, without changing your position or without movement, *wearing ill fitting sandals, *lack of exercise or *internal disorder like arthritis. Point to observe- * if you have difficulty in climbing stairs, take lift while going upstairs. If there is no lift, go up slowly. * if it is due to strain of games or injury, take rest. * if it is due to obesity, reduce weight. * if it is due to constant sitting at a particular posture, change posture and engage in slow walk. * walking regularly at slow pace without unduly straining helps as it improves blood circulation around knee and eases the joint. *you can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take bryonia 200---twice daily morning and evening and give feedback after 7 days
