I am 25 years old male. I workout everyday for around 90 minutes and my main focus is on developing the muscles. When I lift heavy weight I feel out of energy in just 15-20 minutes of exercise. What should I take during my exercise so that my energy level is maintained. Please suggest something which is affordable.

Hello, Gaining weight is a slow process which requires patience and dedication! The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! For increasing your weight, concentrate on the below points (if you don’t have any medical condition) which helps in gaining weight in a right way without harming your body. - Consume more healthy fats. Foods containing healthy fats are full of nutrients and also high in calories, making them a great option for weight gain. Foods containing plant fats should be your first option - this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Foods containing healthy animals fats include lean meats and full fat dairy products - although if you have high cholesterol, you should probably stick to low-fat options. -Eat more protein. Good sources of protein include lean meat, fish and poultry, in addition to eggs, whole grains, dairy products and legumes. -Drink more calories. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day. -Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. -Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin-ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. -Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos. Both thrice daily ½ an hour before meals for 3months. Revert.

Hi My question is how can I get relief from knee pain? Actually I met with an accident at the age of 10. Which caused knee bone fracture. It's took almost two months bed rest for recovery. Advice... Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

This could be due to oa knee precipitated by injury physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Don't ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Basavaraj Go for natural, organic foods if you can. Drink plenty of water also, drinking water with lemon is cleansing and healthy for you. Avoid things like soda, diet soda or any drinks, artificial colors and sweeteners, white flour, overly processed foods, fast food, etc Your morning breakfast starting should be from oatsmeal..its best for healthy fit... one or two fruit should be consume daily. pulses curd paneer etc high protein diet are very good for being fit... U shuld take proper 7 to 8hr sleep in night.. consume high fibre diet.. ur diet shuld be rich in fruits and vegetables... Avoid junk foods...Avoid alcohol and smoking. If you have not exercised for a while it is worth visiting you Doctor to get a check-up before you get into any fitness program. Start your fitness programme slowly, many people rush back into their exercise programs at exactly the same level of intensity that they where at when they last exercised –remember that muscles tighten as we get older and we need to build up our level of intensity gradually – I suggest no more than a 10% increase in time, speed or intensity each week. Stretching is very important before starting your exercises. Make sure you get good instruction on the correct technique for all of your exercises before you get serious and increase the weights. Speak to one of the Physio & Fitness gym trainers if you are at all concerned about how to do any of the exercises in your program. Best wishes.

You can have your oats at an earlier time if you feel hungry. There is no need to delay having them till 10 am. Oats has high fiber content and is low in fats and calories. It promotes weight loss. That must be the reason for your week feeling.

Eating Disorders and their Neurobiology

A psychological disorder, which is marked by abnormal eating patterns is known as an eating disorder. Eating disorder, commonly known as anorexia nervosa in medical circles, is often a combination of both abnormal eating and weight gain patterns.

Yet, on general diagnosis, eating disorders are categorized into three types, namely, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating. 

Diagnostically stated, a person suffering from:

  1. Anorexia nervosa is usually characterized by low body weight as well as a disturbed perception of one's weight.
  2. Bulimia nervosa on the other hand includes, persistent binge eating along with loss of self-control and a psychological overvaluation of one's body shape or weight.
  3. The third category, which is binge eating, is marked by anxiety, consistent overeating, stress and drastic loss of self-esteem.

Although, eating disorder is a commonplace disorder worldwide, the cause of it still remains unknown. A recent research has found that due to the fact that eating disorders reflect a physiological anomaly between the need to eat and the drive to eat, a hypothesis is developed stating the cause to be a disturbing appetite pattern on the most fundamental level. This proposition has been further delved into using brain imaging that shows emotions, rewards and eating inhibitions are linked to neural pathways.

Current treatments, which include forms of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy have limited capacity in reducing and normalizing eating disorders. Furthermore, various psychological interventions used to treat eating disorders are variations of psychiatric treatments, which are not particular to the needs of the patient in such disorders. Empirical researches have linked inhibitions, rewards and maladaptive eating behaviors to alterations in the circuitry of the brain. Furthermore, abnormal metabolistic behaviors are also linked to eating disorders.

Although no concrete remedy exists, a person suffering from eating disorders could get their symptoms minimalized to a certain extent through rehabilitation clinics and therapies.

If you feel excessive sleep or tiredness/ head spinning or vertigo like feeling you have to make sure you have no anaemia or hypothyroidism by doing a blood CBC & TSH and take high calorie and high protein diet

Drinking beer has same side effects as any other form of alcohal. But it contain little less amount of alcohal. It has more calories and hence can increase more weight. Other side effects are same like liver damage; brain nerve weakness; kidney problem, acidity and many more. So dear avoid it.

You must take alfafa tonic thrice a day two spoons each time fir one month and add banana shake, grapes juice, mango shake in your diet daily for one month. You should go for walk daily atleast three to four km's.

If you are bodybuilding, you need 2 gm protein per kg body weight the commercial products you use do not usually have more than 25 grams of protein in a scoop .if you are non vegetarian you should consume at least 250 grams of chicken daily and 8 to 10 egg whites daily and almost litre of milk. Then you can expect results. Have 100gms peanuts also for weight gain.
