Once the heart surgery is complete, the initial recovery process from the wounds and incisions can take almost two months. The doctor will give you instructions on how to take care of yourself post-surgery so you recuperate faster and be back in the pink of health.

Road to recovery

  1. The first step is to take care of the wounds; make sure that you keep the area of the incision dry. Avoid taking baths for the first few days. If you notice any sign of infection such as redness around the area, pus oozing out or high fever, then do not waste time consult a doctor. Experiencing symptoms such as the breastbone shifting and cracking when you move should not be disregarded at all.
  2. Post-surgical pain is another area that you need to address. The area adjoining the incision can be painful till the first few weeks pass and there may be pain and stiffness in the surrounding muscles as well. In case of a bypass surgery, the legs may hurt if the veins from the legs were used as grafts. The pain and the soreness will recede with time.
  3. Avoid heavy activity for the first two months post-surgery. Start with small tasks, and gradually build up your activity levels so that the body gets used to it. Avoid activities such as standing for 15 minutes or more at the same place and lifting heavy things. Make sure to consult your physiotherapist before you start with light exercises such as walking.
  4. The recovery process also depends on the type of food you eat; because eating healthy food can certainly rev up the recovery process. Initially, you may not feel like eating much, so get your appetite up in a gradual manner. It is best to avoid any junk meal at this point in time as that can adversely affect your body’s metabolism even further. It is important that you get the required amount of rest so that your body can recuperate.

Hello lybrate-user, Include lean chicken, Skimmed milk, Egg whites, fish, in your diet. Exclude refined carbohydrates like White Flour, White bread, Biscuits, Noodles from diet. You can include oats, daaliya, brown rice ,brown bread. Cut down your sugar intake. Use flaxseed, pumpkin seed, sesame, walnut ,almond. Opt for double toned or skimmed milk. Make Greek yogurt ,curd at home. Include them in your salad. Avoid mango, jackfruit,grapes. Restrict outside foods, cakes, pastries, cream Biscuits, cold drinks, ice cream. Decrease your oil intake. Surya namaskar, Pranaayam are also helpful. Sleep for at least 7 hours. Take care.

Computed Tomography - What You Need To Know About it?

What is computed tomography?

Computed Tomography is more commonly known as CT scan. It is a specialized form of X-ray. Computed Tomography is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure. CT scan provides concise images of different body parts and can also divulge any internal bleeding or injury during emergency situations. It is absolutely painless and is known to provide accurate information.

How does it work?
The patient is required to lie down on a table which is then passed through an opening, circular in structure. The radiations are rotated inside the CT scan machine for processing the images of the required body parts.

Benefits of Computed Tomography

  1. Computed Tomography helps in the identification of any benign (tumor) or malignant (cancer) growth in any part of your body.
  2. The procedure can be conducted for different body parts such as the head, abdomen, spine and chest among many others.
  3. The images provide much detailed information. It contains information regarding the condition of blood vessel, soft tissue and bones.
  4. Various bones and muscular disorders are also identified via Computed Tomography.
  5. Radiation therapy or biopsy can be carried out with the aid of Computed Tomography.

Risk factors associated with Computed Tomography

  1. If a person is allergic to Iodine (a dye used in the process), then it must be informed to the doctor beforehand to avoid further complications such as itching, nausea or vomiting.
  2. At times, kidney functions may get disrupted.
  3. The radiation emitted during CT scan is known to be harmful, especially for children.
  4. The dye used for conducting CT scan can cause allergic reaction that can be life-threatening.

At times the doctor may advise anti-allergic drugs to patients who are allergic to the dyes used in the process. CT scan is otherwise a very safe procedure for diagnosing various diseases.

You can take lukewarm water with lemon slice on an empty stomach in the morning. Take small amount of foods frequently instead of 3 big meals. Avoid fast foods, junk foods, processed foods. Avoid sugar, sweetened juice, eat whole fruits, vegetables, whole wheat, whole bread, grain, brown bread etc. You eat protein for weight loss. Eat egg white, fish, cottage cheese, soy milk, soy product etc. Drink lots of water. Use lukewarm water 5 mins after meals. Regular exercise like yoga, swimming, skipping, plank, push ups, sit ups etc.

Simple Ways To Get Rid Of Freckles On Face Permanently!

The complexion of a person is determined by a pigment known as melanin. More the amount of melanin in a person, darker the complexion. The benefit of melanin is effective sun protection, and it prevents damage from sun exposure.

We have noticed people with dark (brown/black) spots that are darker than the surroundings skin. Commonly affected areas are the face, neck, hands, back, etc. These are melanin concentrated areas and become more visible in fair complexioned people. They are caused due to overproduction of melanin by the melanocytes, which are responsible for the production of melanin.

Now, what causes freckles is not clearly established, though the following are proposed.

  1. Exposure to sunlight: The cells responsible for melanin production absorb the sun and therefore produce excessive melanin. This is a natural defence mechanism of the skin.
  2. Ethnicity: Races with white skin are more likely to have freckles than races with darker skin.
  3. Weather: Some people tend to have freckles only in the summer with fairly clear skin during the winter.
  4. Genetics: If your parents or siblings have freckles, the chances of you having it are quite high.
  5. Tanning: Whether by natural means of greater exposure to the sun or artificially done if the salon, increases the chances of developing freckles.

Treatment: There are rumours stating that freckles are “angel kisses,” and “good night charms” and should not be removed as it would bring bad fortune. This is, however, not true and for purely cosmetic reasons, they need to be removed. The commonly affected age group (<30) also is cosmetically sensitive, and therefore the need to treat these.

Prevention is the best and the first solution. Whether by race, heredity, or lifestyle, if you are prone to develop freckles, ensure you are taking the necessary steps to avoid getting freckles in the first place. Avoid sun exposure without sun protection, avoid tanning, and you will be surprised how you can actually prevent freckles. Watch out for weather changes and avoid sun exposure. Reducing the amount of sun exposure can also help in keeping the freckles light, thereby not making too much of a cosmetic concern.

If prevention is not possible, some of the effective treatment measures include:

  1. Topical creams: These contain bleaching agents like Retin-A. One disadvantage though is that it acts on the entire skin and not just the freckles.
  2. Laser: A beam of the laser is used to get rid of the unwanted melanocytes which produce melanin. It also improves skin tone and colour.
  3. Cryotherapy: Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the melanin-producing cells, thereby removing freckles.

After treating freckles, preventing freckle formation with limiting sun exposure and sun protection is extremely essential.

Your weight is controlled by 4 major factors (1) refined sugar consumption (2) exercise and hydration (3) posture and sitting (4) how many times do you indulge yourself - alcohol, binge eating at parties, overeating etc. Step 01: refined sugar 1. Avoid all snacks and commercial products with sugar in them - biscuits, cakes, bournvita, horlicks, coke, pepsi, energy drinks, sweetened yogurt etc. 2. Cut down on your daily intake of tea/coffee and maintain it at 3-4 cups a day. 3. Try to add little sugar to any beverage (coffee, tea, milk, lemon water etc.) that you have and ideally you should refrain from adding any sugar altogether. Step 02: get exercise and proper hydration 1. Try to work out for 20 minutes each day. You do not necessarily have to go to the gym. You can incorporate some pretty powerful exercises in your daily routine like - squats, skipping, surya namaskar and core exercises. 2. Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday but remember that tea/coffee are not substitutes for pure water. Step 03: improve posture and sitting habits if you have a sitting job then ensure that you do not sit for more than 30 minutes at one stretch. Get up and move a little after every 30 minutes. Step 04: stop indulging and eat more of raw natural stuff 1. No more than 60 ml of hard liqour or 2 glasses of beer per day. 2. Try to eliminate the urge to overeat but if you do overeat try to limit the incidents to two times per week. 3. Eat 4 servings of fruits per day. 4. Each of your meal should contain 50% of raw vegetables. Once you incorporate the above points in your routine you will see a dramatic difference in your weight, physical shape and energy levels. You will find that there are a lot of companies out there that are trying to sell expensive products to naive consumers in the name of weight loss. These products may not necessarily be good for you.

There are so many causes of back pain. In your age group postural, trauma spondylitis or disc prolapse are the common causes. If in investigation nothing comes it may be due to wrong posture or some remote injury of affected part may be there. Try to walk and sit in right posture. Sleep on hard bed. Massage the affected area with warm oil. Do mild lumber and cervical exercises daily.

You should eat only when you are hungry. Actually speaking one should have three proper meal breakfast, lunch,&dinner. If you take this is more then sufficient to keep you healthy.

Menses pattern vary from woman to woman, I do not think you should be worrying about this rightnow. Wen you get married and you face the problem of infertility, at that time we can evaluate.
