How to Get Rid of Hyperpigmentation

Ayurveda believes that the human body is made of 3 doshas kapha, pitta and vata. Most illnesses are a result of imbalance between these three doshas and dominance of patterns and symptoms of one of the three doshas.

Melanin is the pigment that gives the skin its color; higher the pigment levels, darker the complexion. Hyperpigmentation is caused due to excessive melanin deposition, commonly in certain areas of the skin like the face leading to blemishes and dark spots. In fair complexioned people, this could be an aesthetic issue, affecting the personality of the individual.

The following are some common causes of hyperpigmentation:

  1. Overexposure to sunlight: Direct exposure to sunlight without use of sunscreen.
  2. Environmental pollutants: Dust and other chemicals, especially in areas with high levels of pollution are more prone to hyperpigmentation.
  3. Cosmetic products: If they contain chemicals like silicone and hydroquinone, over a long period of time, can produce dark spots.
  4. Antibiotics and hormone treatments: As a side effect, some antibiotics and hormones used as oral contraceptive pills can produce spots.
  5. Viral infections like herpes: The scars from infections like herpes and chickenpox would take time to heal completely and can be a cosmetic issue.

Hormonal issues may cause hyperpigmentation and in that case, we need to supplement herbal tablets for better result and better skin health and glow.

Now, let us look at some simple, herbal ways to manage these:
Natural exfoliation of skin: Wash the skin regularly with plain water before heading out and after returning. 
Aloe vera juice can be used as a cleanser and toner followed by applying vitamin E oil. 

Use the following natural face packs:

  1. Turmeric: Known for its skin lightening properties, turmeric can be mixed with milk or aloe vera pulp or ghee and applied on the skin. Alternately, plain turmeric can be rubbed on the skin once or twice a day to reduce blemishes.
  2. Lemon Juice: Application of plain lime juice is considered as an excellent way to reduce dark spots and blemishes.
  3. Sandalwood: Believed to have great benefits on the skin. Mixed with honey or milk or plain sandalwood as a paste is very beneficial to the skin.
  4. Tomato juice: Mixed with honey is also believed to be good for skin complexion.
  5. Water: Drinking lots of water keeps the skin hydrated and helps the skin keep pigmentation at bay. There would be a natural glow and elasticity of the skin, which is very visible.

In addition to these food substances, there are a lot of topical applications like oils (kumkumadi oil, nalpamaradi oil, eladi oil, and kanaka oil). The treatment should be holistic in that along with topical applications there should be overall reduced exposure to sun and sufficient water consumption to wash off toxins and dead skin cells.

Your weight should b 62 kg according to your height. Yes nutrislim is a nice product. You take low sodium, low calorie n high protein diet.

Hi Mr. Lybrate-user, if this is a purely overeating than burning calories related weight gain, please have a strict control over what you eat daily, completely avoid junk food and follow an exercise regimen, a walk or yoga for atleast 40 min in a day.

It is a common problem in your age due to hormonal changes. Use foaming face wash with salysilic acid (1%) saslic face wash will control the oil. Also take isotretonoin tablet, every alternate day. It will be better to show the problem before taking this medicine to know the proper dosage. Do not use any cream, if your skin feels stretched or tight, you may use aloe vera gel. Use an anti acne cream on the acne (do not spread) before bedtime. If acne has been troubling you for long and you also have acne scars, laser treatment will help you.

Your fats should come from mostly from vegetable and plant sources, not animal sources

If you are suffering from Dengue, Take one tablet of Paracetamol 500 mg 2-3 times daily after food, drink plenty of water and take rest. Monitor blood platelet and if it is falling down and you develop skin rashes with bleeding episodes like bleeding from gum, nose etc consult doctor immediately.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Dengue (deng-gey) fever is a mosquito-borne disease that occurs in tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Mild dengue fever causes high fever, rash, and muscle and joint pain. A severe form of dengue fever, also called dengue hemorrhagic fever, can cause severe bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure (shock) and death.

Millions of cases of dengue infection occur worldwide each year. Dengue fever is most common in southeast asia and the western pacific islands, but the disease has been increasing rapidly in latin america and the caribbean.

Researchers are working on dengue fever vaccines. For now the best prevention is to reduce mosquito habitat in areas where dengue fever is common.

Symptoms:
Many people, especially children and teens, may experience no signs or symptoms during a mild case of dengue fever. When symptoms do occur, they usually begin four to 10 days after you are bitten by an infected mosquito. Signs and symptoms of dengue fever most commonly include:

Fever, as high as 106 f (41 c)
Headaches
Muscle, bone and joint pain
Pain behind your eyes
You might also experience:

Widespread rash
Nausea and vomiting
Rarely, minor bleeding from your gums or nose
Most people recover within a week or so. In some cases, symptoms worsen and can become life-threatening. Blood vessels often become damaged and leaky. And the number of clot-forming cells (platelets) in your bloodstream drops. This can cause:

Bleeding from your nose and mouth
Severe abdominal pain
Persistent vomiting
Bleeding under the skin, which might look like bruising
Problems with your lungs, liver and heart

Prevention:
If you are living or traveling in tropical areas where dengue fever is common, these tips may help reduce your risk of mosquito bites:

Stay in air-conditioned or well-screened housing. It's particularly important to keep mosquitoes out at night.
Reschedule outdoor activities. Avoid being outdoors at dawn, dusk and early evening, when more mosquitoes are out.
Wear protective clothing. When you go into mosquito-infested areas, wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, socks and shoes.
Use mosquito repellent. Permethrin can be applied to your clothing, shoes, camping gear and bed netting. You can also buy clothing made with permethrin already in it. For your skin, use a repellent containing at least a 10 percent concentration of deet.
Reduce mosquito habitat. The mosquitoes that carry the dengue virus typically live in and around houses, breeding in standing water that can collect in such things as used automobile tires. Reduce the breeding habitat to lower mosquito populations.

Your hair needs a high protein well-rounded diet. A strand of hair is composed of mostly protein, which means your hair needs protein to grow. Hair and nails are both protein fibers. Hence a therapeutic diet prescribed by a registered dietitian can help a lot in hair growth. Besides diet excessive stress and some medication are conclusively known to retard hair growth and promote hair loss. - cut down on the use of hair spray, hair gels, and styling creams that contain harsh chemical ingredients, which can dry out the scalp and cause the formation of flakes. Also harsh treatments such as perms, colours, relaxers etc take a toll on the health of your hair. - avoid changing your shampoo and conditioner constantly. Stick to one good mild cleansing shampoo for six months before changing. - excessive exposure to the sun, pollution, rain water and dust without proper protection makes the hair dry, brittle and limp. Use a live in conditioner during the rains to protect it from the humidity and wash and oil it regularly to maintain a healthy scalp. I may also prescribe medications like biotin or minox. That are proven to help in hairgrowth and repair I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. In flu there is cough and cold with fever. Avoid close contact with a person suffering from flu and also avoid exposure to excessive cold. Typhoid is an infection of intestines, in this there is vague pain in abdomen with fever sometimes with evening rise and weakness.

Take 1-1 tab chitrakdi vati and shool vajrini vati twice a day after lunch and dinner. Pranacharya udar bhaskar kshar churna 1/2 tsp with warm water two times a day. Avoid tea coffee. Spicy food. Junk food. Fermented food.
