His father has migraine and we have heard migraine is transferred from father to his child. How does my frnd make sure he does not have migraine?

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
It is not necessary that your friend may develop migraine aa a rule, just because his father does. You may ask your friend to avoid factors that precipitate migraine like - overexposure to sun - fasting - irregularities or decreased sleep - stress, anxiety, loud noise, allergies - some foods that he may be allergic to - watching TV or movies for a long time Adopt a healthy lifestyle

I have bells palsy for past four years. I'm taking treatment on sidhha. But including that now am in under the treatment of physiotherapy. After this I feel very bad. I think that there is a problem with my physiotherapy treatment. I don't know whether this is a correct treatment or not. But I have to know that there is any complications with my physio treatment?

MBBS, MS ( general surgery )
Neurosurgeon, Delhi
If you still have residual paresis of facial muscles after 4 years of onset of confirmed bells palsy, its unlikely to improve further. But at the time you should be sure that it was bells palsy and there is not any lesion inside brain responsible for facial nerve palsy.

Hello, only numbness of left hand without any headache makes the diagnosis migraine bit difficult. Migraine is a disorder of blood vessels and nerves where mri and eeg are expected to be normal. We do those to rule out other possibilities. Kindly consult general physician or neurologist for detailed analysis of symptoms so that proper diagnosis is done. Migraine is a controllable disease all you need to do is to take a course of medications for 6 months.

Migraine is a complex disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of headache, most often unilateral and in some cases associated with visual or sensory symptoms—collectively known as an aura—that arise most often before the head pain but that may occur during or afterward . Migraine is most common in women and has a strong genetic component Signs and symptoms Typical symptoms of migraine include the following: 1.Throbbing or pulsatile headache, with moderate to severe pain that intensifies with movement or physical activity 2.Unilateral and localized pain in the frontotemporal and ocular area, but the pain may be felt anywhere around the head or neck 3.Pain builds up over a period of 1-2 hours, progressing posteriorly and becoming diffuse 4.Headache lasts 4-72 hours 5.Nausea (80%) and vomiting (50%), including anorexia and food intolerance, and light-headedness 6.Sensitivity to light and sound Features of migraine aura are as follows: 1.May precede or accompany the headache phase or may occur in isolation 2.Usually develops over 5-20 minutes and lasts less than 60 minutes 3.Most commonly visual but can be sensory, motor, or any combination of these 4.Visual symptoms may be positive or negative 5.The most common positive visual phenomenon is the scintillating scotoma, an arc or band of absent vision with a shimmering or glittering zigzag border Physical findings during a migraine headache may include the following: *Cranial/cervical muscle tenderness *Horner syndrome (ie, relative miosis with 1-2 mm of ptosis on the same side as the headache) *Conjunctival injection *Tachycardia or bradycardia *Hypertension or hypotension *Hemisensory or hemiparetic neurologic deficits (ie, complicated migraine) *Adie-type pupil (ie, poor light reactivity, with near dissociation from light) Homoeopathic constitutional treatment cures this malady completely since it goes to the root of the disease and removes this tendency permanently. Some of Homoeopathic remedies used for treating migraine are Belladonna, Spigelia,Sanguinaria, Glonoine,Natrum mur, Phosphorus, Tuberculinum, Iris versicolor, medicine should be strictly selected based on symptom similarity to get permanent cure.

Preferably Sibelium 10 will be better for migraine but and sure to take at fix time with food. Its not advisable to take medicine for migrain Unless you have severe pain or can not be manage. Migraine usually develops gradually duee to Disturbed life style, prolonged stress, lack of proper sleep and rest etc. Every patient of migraine have some special trigger point which produce migraine like Excessive noise, light, sunlight, stress, fatigue, insufficient sleep and bieng empty stomach. So identifie what is responsible reason in your cause and take precaution to these. To treating migraine important management are life style modification and stress management. Do not remain empty stomach Take proper rest and sleep on time. Do some relaxation activities like pranayam, yoga etc. Take plenty of water and juices. For better understanding and managing migraine you can contact me any time. Your feedback will encourage us to keep helping you. Tc.

MD - Internal Medicine

Hi, to prevent migraine attacks following measures must be used. 1) avoid triggers. If certain foods or odors seem to have triggered your migraines in the past, avoid them. 2) establish a daily routine with regular sleep patterns and regular meals. In addition, try to control stress. 3) regular aerobic exercise reduces tension and can help prevent migraines. 4) obesity is also thought to be a factor in migraine headaches, and regular exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight or lose weight. 5) migraines and estrogen seems to trigger or make your headaches worse, you may want to avoid or reduce the medications you take that contain estrogen which include birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy. You will also benefit for medical therapy if having recurrent migraine attacks. Follow these prevention regimen tips
