I'm 27 year old, 174 cm tall and I weigh 83 kgs. I have been hitting gym regularly for past 1 year but I'm finding it difficult to get rid of my belly fat. It looks flat when lie down but when I'm up straight it's a way different story. I'm following calorie diet and I can see allot of good changes in my weight upper body etc but nothing when it comes to my belly. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, I hope someone can help me in this. Thank you for your time and help.

Hi lybrate-user, There are two pillars for weight loss. Diet and exercise. Since you are exercising regularly, your diet may have scope for improvement. Also its important to know whether you have any medical condition which is leading to your condition. Your BMI is 27.4,which tells that you are overweight. Normal BMI range is 18.5–24.9. Dear Lybrate user, It seems U r leading an irregular life style.. please. go for a walk in d morning. * take,plenty of water. * opt stair case in stead of a lift in your office if,possible, go for swimming,gardening . * cut your meal by 10%,& add salad,fruits, sprouts in lunch avoiding ghee. * Homoeo medicine * @ Fucus Vas Q- 20 drops with 2/2 cup of lukewarm water before each meal. * avoid,smoking,alcohol,late sitting on computer in d night. * ensure 6/7 hrs of sound sleep. please,report,fortnightly.

SHORTER VERSION- Make sure your intestines are clear and well detoxified because they might be the root cause of your thin body condition. Follow this natural tips to gain weight 1. For the detoxification of your stomach and intestines drink lukewarm water right after you wake up in the morning sitting in sukhasaan (chaukdi) and rinse your mouth with luke warm water and then gulp it in (sip the water instead of drinking it in speed). 2. Eat hand full roasted almonds daily. 3. Eat a heavy breakfast everyday and consume at least 5 spoons of cow ghee along with your food, milk etc (each day and not just one time) 4. The best remedy is sitting in "Prithivi Mudra" for about 20 minutes every day doing this method for 6 months regularly will provide you with natural weight increase (touching the upper part of the ring finger and the thumb , while keeping rest of the three fingers straight ) 5. Please follow the below recommendation for your condition: diet, exercise, and behavioral modification should be included in all obesity management approaches for body mass index (bmi) of 25 kg/m 2 or higher. Other tools, such as pharmacotherapy for bmi of 27 kg/m 2 or higher with comorbidity or bmi over 30 kg/m2 and bariatric surgery for bmi of 35 kg/m2 with comorbidity or bmi over 40 kg/m 2, should be used as adjuncts to behavioral modification to reduce food intake and increase physical activity when this is possible. Many obese people are advised to follow a juice diet or the juice fast for a period of a week or so, so that they can shed the excess extra pounds faster. Health and nutrition experts advise people to consume fresh fruit or vegetable juice for obesity.

Hello doctor I am 23 years, from Gurgaon. I am a working woman. My weight s 62kgs and I tried a lot to reduce it to 55 kgs and was successful too by doing dieting and gyming. But two months before I left gyming and now my weight comes back at 62 kgs again. Please guide me what should I do to maintain or reduce my body weight as I can not join gym due to shortage of time. Dear to decrease your weight you have to do work out daily. Try the remedies below they can help u. 1. Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one glass of water. 2. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. 3. Do this daily for at least three months. 4. Drink mint tea or make a paste of green mint with some simple spices and eat during meals. 5. Eat vegetables such as bitter gourd and drumsticks to control obesity. 6. Do bhujang asana, dhanurasana, naukasana, kumbhakasana, pavanamukthasana daily 10 min per asana. 7. Do running early morning daily and join aerobics in evening. 8. Avoid oily and spicy food. And constipation.

Take protein rich diet and make sure to drink minimum of three litres of water per day and also drink a cup of milk mixed with a haldi powder twice a day

I am 75 years old. My body structure is slim type. I eat normally during the day but at night eat very less. In the mornings I do some freehand exercises. I also do some breathing exercises . Mr. Lybrate-user, from your height and weight it is clear that bmi is 25 kgs/m2, showing mild over weight. If you do not have hypothyroidism, then properly planned diet and regular exercise of more than 1 hour or preferably joining a gym and doing a workout under the guidance of a professional trainer is going to be more beneficial. In the diet you should avoid sweets, deep fried foods, sweetened aerated drinks, junk foods, pastries, other bakery items, red meat, high fat milk products, fructose corn syrup containing products & highly processed food products. Also refrain from alcohol and smoking completely. You might increase protein food intake daily, by taking 2 to 3 eggs. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, use whole grain products and whole grain flour for chapati and roti. Avoid all products made of refined flour like maida. Rigorous exercise will definitely help you shed extra fat including that on the face. Thanks.
