I am having cold and fluctuating fever along with sensation in teeth since last week. What should I do? Please help me.
There are several things you can do to prevent a cold—they are all easy and inexpensive and worth the effort. Wash your hands often-with soap and warm water. The germs stick to the soap and get washed down the drain. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. Cover Your Mouth and Nose When You Sneeze or Cough- Clean your hands every time you cough or sneeze. Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose, or Mouth-Germs are often spread when a person touches a contaminated surface and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth. Stay Home When You’re Sick-Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, don’t smoke, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food so you can fend off viruses. Take healthy balanced diet...like boiled eggs.daily in breakfast .. Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. Routinely clean and disinfect common areas of your home. Treatment:There is a gradual 1-3 day onset of symptoms. It often starts out as a sore throat, then a fever and coughing. As the cold progresses, the nasal mucus may thicken which is the last stage before the cold dries up. A cold usually lasts for a week or two. But, taking good care of yourself at home can relieve symptoms and help prevent complications if you are otherwise healthy. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn’t need medical treatment. Complications include bacterial infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs which must be treated with antibiotics. In general you should: • get plenty of rest so your body can use its energy to fight the cold • staying at home will keep you from spreading germs • drink plenty of liquids like herbal tea or hot broth/vegetable/tomato soups. Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can keep you from getting enough sleep Runny Nose and Sneezing- if you have post nasal drip, gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. Drink extra fluids. (avoid sugary and high calorie drinks) Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation • Tablet Nasorest-P once/twice daily may reduce the amount of mucous. • Humidify the rooms you are in most or your whole house if possible. • Do steam inhalation once or twice daily Cough-Coughing is how your body gets rid of debris and mucus from the airways during a viral infection. Unless your cough is severe or is keeping you from resting at night, it is better not to treat it. A severe cough can be treated with a cough syp, but don’t try to completely stop the cough. There are two types of coughs. Productive and non-productive or dry cough. Non-productive, dry cough. A dry, hacking cough may develop near the end of a cold. Dry coughs that follow viral colds are often worse at night and can last up to several weeks. Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough. Cough drops can sooth an irritated throat, but most don’t affect the cough. Productive cough. A productive cough is one that brings up mucus from the back of the throat or the lungs. Productive coughs should not be suppressed to the point they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. Drink lots of water if you have a productive cough. Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily

You lead your life very systematically. When your son is in us then you feel depression. Now he is very near to you. So no need of any medicine. If we stop medicine anything happen that is your fear. It has no reason. When we feel happy. It is better to stop medicine. Spirituality is good now. If you have any fear regarding this. Better to attend psychological counselling sessions. They will tell to you. How to lead your present status. Your life style modification. It helps to you very much. It reduces depressive status. It has no side effects. So better to take the help of a very good psychologist. Be sociable and be friendly with your friends and family members. Feel always comfortable and happy it always helps to you very much. Ok all the best.

Start exercising everyday. You can start brisk walk for 20-3- mins. Repeat again in the evening. You can also learn Yoga (including pranayam and meditation) which can energize you and make you alert. Eat only healthy food and avoid junk food. Have fruits and vegetables everyday. Please maintain discipline in daily routine so that a natural rhythm is maintained. Have patience as it will take time for the body to set right the pattern. Sleep for 7-8 hrs at night (avoid gadgets at night time ). Your sleep pattern will get settled. You should also take good care of your overall health. So please go for a routine health checkup and some routine tests like CBC, ESR, blood sugar, Liver profile, thyroid test, and urine routine. You can update the report and seek clarification. You can also take the help of Homeopathy as it is safe and gentle without causing any side effects. Contact me online if required.

DIABETES AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES Diabetic diet is not a matter of deprivation or avoidance but of healthy eating habits. Genetic susceptibility appears to play a powerful role in the occurrence of type 2 DM, but the current epidemic likely reflects marked changes in lifestyle. Decreased physical activity and increased energy consumption have together promoted obesity, which is a strong risk factor for diabetes. Nutrition is an integral component of prevention, delayed onset and management of diabetes. Goals of diabetes management: Provide a nutritionally sound meal Attain and maintain blood glucose levels in the normal range as far as possible To attain and maintain desirable weight To maintain healthy levels of blood fat i. E. Cholestrol and triglycerides To prevent long term complications of diabetes Healthy eating; 60% of the calories should come from carbohydrates 12%-20% from protein 20% -35% from fats Food should be distributed equally throughout the day Choose foods from all food groups in all major meals Choose foods high in fiber as it slows digestion and gives a feeling of satiety Total fat and saturated fat should be limited, some amount of fat is essential for important body functions and it also helps slow gastric emptying. Whole grains should be chosen over refined cereals like sooji, sago, white bread, maida Whole dals have a very low GI index and should be included daily EXERCISE: · Exercise helps diabetics lower blood glucose · It helps the body use insulin better Exercising helps one control weight, develop lean muscle and reduce body fat Maintain adequate level of physical activity so as to achieve fitness and a negative energy balance 30 to 45 min of brisk walk daily is recommended.

That Red Penis - Balanitis or Balanoposthitis?

MD - General Medicine
Sexologist, Delhi
That Red Penis - Balanitis or Balanoposthitis?

A healthy red penis is something a man desires, but sometimes that redness can be a sign that a penis health issue is present. Very often the redness indicates an inflammation, but is that red penis inflammation due to balanitis or balanoposthitis? Or maybe plain old posthitis? And what is the difference between the three terms anyway?

To be sure, sometimes a red penis can be due to other causes, such as simple rawness from friction or even the presence of some sexually-transmitted infections (STIs). But often it's an inflammation linked to one of the above conditions.

Defining each of these conditions can help a guy to understand better what they are.

- Balanitis. This is an inflammation of the penis, specifically of the glans. (The glans, sometimes called the head, is the kind of cone-shaped top of the penis). Any man can potentially come down with balanitis.

- Posthitis. When there's an inflammation of the foreskin, it is called posthitis. Only men whose foreskins are intact can contract posthitis.

- Balanoposthitis. When both the glans and the foreskin are inflamed, it is referred to as balanoposthitis. As with posthitis, only intact men can have balanoposthitis.

In other words, each specific kind of inflammation is defined by where the inflammation occurs. However, it should be noted that not all doctors use the terms with 100% accuracy. For example, it is common for a doctor to tell a patient he has balanitis when in fact he has balanoposthitis.

Causes

But how does a man get balanitis or any of its similar brethren? Inflammation implies infection, and sometimes these conditions come about due to an STI. However, it is usually more likely that inadequate hygiene is to blame. Other common causes are a yeast infection (thrush), an allergic reaction to soap or chemicals, a skin condition (such as psoriasis or eczema), or a bacterial infection.

Balanitis, posthitis and balanoposthitis are generally more of a problem for intact men. Why? Because inflammation often is accompanied by swelling; if the glans becomes too swollen, it may make retraction of the foreskin difficult to achieve, which can be painful. Similarly, it may be difficult to pull a retracted foreskin back over the glans.

Symptoms

In addition to a red penis, men with one of these conditions may notice some of the following symptoms:

- Soreness and itchiness

- A strong odor

- A discharge from the penis

- Swelling

- Pain, especially when urinating or when moving the foreskin forward or backward over the glans.

Treating it

It's good to take a red penis to the doctor for evaluation. If there is an underlying cause (such as an STI or a yeast infection), the physician can recommend an appropriate course of action.

Often treatment for balanitis and these other inflammations involves paying proper attention to hygiene. It's important to thoroughly wash the penis (including under the foreskin) to prevent inflammations from occurring. If the inflammation is due to an allergic reaction to soap or cleanser, it's important to find a new cleaning option that doesn't affect sensitive penis skin.

When a red penis is caused by balanitis, posthitis or balanoposthitis, it can leave the member feeling sore and tender. Using a top rated penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) can help alleviate that soreness and improve the health of the penis skin. Be sure to select a crème that contains a combination of moisturizing agents, such as Shea butter (a high-end emollient) and vitamin E (a natural hydrator). In addition, the crème should include alpha lipoic acid. A potent antioxidant, alpha lipoic acid fights free radicals and thereby strengthens and protects penis skin.
