Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. It appears that you are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Keep your feet warm, do physiotherapy and get your blood tested for hemogram, sugar, uric acid, thyroid and vitamin D3, to rule out anemia, infection, diabetes, thyroid, gout and vitamin D deficiency. Review after investigations.

I am having pain in my upper back when I breathe and constant coughing from last month and I get high fever at night and headaches too.

Kindly show me digital x rays of dl. Spine sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days bio d3 max 1tab od do neck, back & shoulder exercises it may have to be further investigated you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am feeling tired and lazy. Legs are also paining. What should I do to feel fresh.
For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching towel hamstring stretch lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time.

Backache is a common ailment. Rule out diabetes & vit.D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. I took x-ray 2 days before. Backbone's bottom bone doesn't shows a gap between bones that is not familiar like the middle part of the bone. From buttox through left leg. It gets pain after standing up. For 10 minutes only. Advice please. I used to walk daily for 1 hour. Can I continue walking. Please advice as soon as possible.

Please take TENS of 4 channel or IFT lumbar region then sciatica notch to leg region 20 days @ 15 min daily each time ok use choamote do not sit on floor use tailor brace - goog quality.

Hi some times I unable to sleep in nights. I try to sleep I just get 2hr continues sleep and there after I will not get sleep for 2 hours. I work in 2nd shift till 1'o clock. Some times I am able to sleep happily continuously. And some times not can you give any solution for getting good sleep.

1. You may be having anxiety or stress. Avoid stress. 2. You need 7-8 hours of sound sleep to remain healthy. 3. Go for regular exercise, Take part in games and sports, 4. Do yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise like pranayama to calm your mind, control your emotion, relieve anxiety and improve concentration. 5. Adhere to a specific sleep time and regular schedule 6. Take light dinner. 7. Avoid taking tea/coffee at bed time. Have a glass of warm milk at bed time. 8. Don’t go to sleep immediately after dinner. Take a small walk after Dinner and if possible take hot water bath before sleep. Read a light magazine or interesting book before going to bed 9. Avoid late night. 10. Don’t sleep in day time 11. Don’t take sleeping pill 12. If no relief consult doctor.

Dear well, your mother has cervical spine problem with nerve root impingement and need evaluation with good clinical examination and imaging. I treat. Such patients with spinal manipulation and will take care and get rid of this pain soon without medication and physiotherapy.

From last few months I feel pain in my right leg (calf muscle) whenever I go to sleep at night. This is happening very frequently now. Iam 29 and my job requires 8-9 hrs of seating on my desk and 4 hrs of travelling. I consulted various docrors and as per them it may be because of blood flow in the nerves when body rests in the night. I did some syggested checkups like weight, sugar, bp and everything was normal. Could you please give some insight on this what could be the issue and its treatment.
