When I cough it feel very dry and during breathing it feels like something is stuck I used various home remedies like Steam Ginger Salt water gargle But it Didn't work. I think the reason would be because of smoking or drinking I have just stopped the smoking. Otherwise I use to smoke 2 to 3 cigarettes a day. But I have stopped it because of this. Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Your problems seem to be mostly due to allergy. To clear off the sticky mucous, drinking half a glass of luke warm water in which a teaspoonful of fresh honey, 1/4 tsp turmeric, little bit of grated ginger and about 2 pieces of black pepper (grind) are mixed properly would help. You can take this twice daily after food. As an alternative to the above-mentioned, you may as well take 10 ml of Dabur Honitus syrup, thrice daily. Its in your best interest that you have stopped smoking. It seems you are somehow allergic to certain foods and drinks including tea, and also smoking which when taken is leading to excess mucous secretion and hence the stickiness. I would first and foremost advise you to restrict intake of such foods/ drinks so that you can prevent most of these issues. I recommend you to have a balanced yet relatively bland diet devoid of excessive spices, salt, oil et al and have a regularized lifestyle with due emphasis on relaxation/ de-stressing. Exercise/ walking for at least 30 - 45 mins should be a part of your daily regimen unless you have other health issues that do not allow you to. Again, in order that you do not get acidity, it is advisable that you avoid tomato based products, citrus fruits/ juices, greasy, fatty or fried and hot foods, sweets, alcohol, caffeinated beverages, tea (with milk), deep fried flesh foods, peppermint, dairy products including chocolates etc. Also, avoid sticky foods that create more of mucous leading to congestion in throat. Hope this helps correct your condition and also give you a long term prophylactic support. You can always meet up a ENT specialist in person for further clinical evaluation should you not get relief still. Do take care and all the very best. Sincerely,

Sub total perforation can b repaired by surgery (tympanoplasty) But at 68 years of age if perforation is not troubling him much ie ear discharge, it can left as such and hearing can b improved by hearing aid.

Hi since you have more of mucus problem you should take steam inhalation with sinarest vapocaps twice a day. If you have sneezing and itching in eyes along with mucus than it's likely a allergic problem than you should take tab allegra 120mg night once for 2 weeks. Thank you.

Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures..Also, the body's defense mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or more may be dangerous and demand immediate treatment The following medications may be used at home for mild fever : -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used in children during a viral illness. -Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and donot overdress. Overdressing can cause the temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause dehydration.Drink plenty of fluids.Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water especially before meals, or after returning from a public places or using public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

I am suffering from depression from quite a few months. I feel dizzy, physical pain, tremor in fingers, sleeplessness. I sob most of the nights gasping. Some of the days I feel super energetic Even with sleeplessness I don't feel like tired and sleepy in these days. Sometimes both happen simultaneously. Are these symptoms of bipolar? Can I be cured without medical diagnosis? Will I be live normal life again or will it ever diminish.

Psychiatrist, Chennai
I am suffering from depression from quite a few months. I feel dizzy, physical pain, tremor in fingers, sleeplessness...
The symptoms you have described does not clearly fit into bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is an episodic illness with depressive episodes and manic episodes with good inter episodal recovery. They should last for a particular duration to qualify for an episode. But these symptoms could be a part of a Rapid cycling component of bipolar disorder. Anyway kindly consult a psychiatrist rather than jumping into diagnosis and get treated. And yes you can definitely lead a normal life and these symptoms can be kept under control.

Hi, Take Schwabe’s Alpha-SH, Alpha-NH and Biocombination-05 - all of them thrice a day for 4 weeks. Use Bakson's Nasal-Aid spray/ 1-2 sprays after every 4 hours. Management: - Avoid cold drinks and fried food, take healthy food. -Avoid exposure to Air-conditioner or cold air. -Take steam-inhalation once before going to bed. -Take enough sleep and rest. Home-Remedies: -When turmeric is combined with spicy ginger root and brewed for hot tea, this combination can help loosen mucus from clogged nasal passages, alleviate sinus pressure, and make you feel better all around. -Two or three tablespoons of raw, unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar added to a cup of hot water or tea taken three times daily will help thin out excessive mucus relieving congestion an sinus pressure. Mix with lemon and honey to taste. - Vitamin C (available in form of chewables) helps the body to resist immune system deficiencies and improves overall health.

Hello. The following are the causes for sensation of lump in throat: Reflux may cause this muscle to tighten up in order to prevent acid (and even non-acid mucus reflux) from the stomach from spilling up into the voicebox and mouth. Heartburn is NOT usually present, though treatment with anti-reflux medications is the same. Read more about reflux here. Increased stress may cause this muscle to constrict more strongly, exactly like the lump that forms in the throat when a person is trying to hold back from crying while watching a very sad movie. Indeed, we see quite a few patients with globus who are in the middle of a divorce, students in the middle of final exams, death in the family, workplace strife (hate the boss or co-worker), etc. Reflux and stress are by far the most common causes of globus. Rarely, cricopharyngeal muscle or esophageal pathology may also cause this sensation when the muscle scars, hypertrophies, or becomes chronically spastic or the lining of the esophagus develops a ring, shelf, or stricture. Even more rarely, a Zenker's Diverticulum or eosinophilic esophagitis may be present. A mucosal lesion may cause this sensation. Such lesions may be due to trauma (swallowing a small piece of bone) or ulcer ("canker" sore of the throat). In this particular scenario, the sensation is described as slightly off to one side and the size of a peanut. Lastly, a mass of some kind can cause this sensation. Such masses may include cancer, cysts, granulomas, large thyroid, etc. Keep in mind, however, that though people think their thyroid may be causing their symptoms of globus, only very RARELY is this the case. The only times when the thyroid may be a factor is when it gets so big to the point it becomes clearly obvious (think an orange-sized mass growing out from the neck), or if the thyroid encircles the esophagus which is also exceedingly rare. In rare cases, the globus sensation is nothing physical at all, but a type of neuropathy (link). Management: - Do stress-relieving exercises like Anulom-Vilum, Pranayam, etc. - Take healthy food. - Drink lots of water. - Think positive Take homoeopathic Rx- Natrum Mur. 200/ one dose daily for 7 days. Revert me back.

It happens when there is infection of middle ear along with eardrum perforation. Start tab. Advent 625 mg three times a day and oflobe-d ear drops 3-3-3. After that get an audiometry (hearing test) done and send me report. You may require surgery later on.

Dear sir I am 25 years old I have tonsils problem. My nose is closed from 5 month I cannot take breath easily. Can yiu guide me please. I am waiting for your good and helpful advise. Thanks.

M S, MBBS

Dear Imran I would give preference to nose compared to tonsils as most of the tonsil infections are easily curable. My first advice is to get yourself examined thoroughly. If nothing conclusive appears on examination, then CT scan if nose and paranasal sinuses will be the next step.
