Dear lybrate user, welcome to lybrate. The duty of your mind is to think. When you sit and pave way for thinking, the mind does its duty and make you lethargic or lazy. You cannot control your mind's thinking. Once you just leave your mind without diversion, it always end up in negative territory. But certainly you can divert your thinking. You can make your mind to be always positive by engaging in creative activities, hobbies, games and passionate towards whatever you do. Thereby you can reduce your stress and tension also. Once you can do this, loss of proper sleep and stress also can be made normal. Take care.

Propolis, or bee glue, is a substance used by bees to build their hives. Propolis contains many beneficial ingredients that can strengthen the immune system. New research shows that propolis may also be able to reduce or prevent hair loss. The researchers in the 2014 study on hair loss wanted to know if propolis extract could encourage the growth of hair in mice. The mice were shaved and then half were given a topical application of propolis. The mice given the propolis treatment grew their hair back faster. The researchers stated that since some hair loss is linked with inflammation, applying a soothing anti-inflammatory topical treatment could prevent some permanent hair loss that some women and men face as they age. The researchers found that not only did the mice with propolis treatments have faster hair growth, the propolis actually increased the number of cells engaged in hair growth. “These results indicate that propolis stimulates hair growth by inducing hair keratinocyte proliferation,” the researchers concluded. This indicates that in some cases, propolis may help stimulate the growth of hair follicles that have stopped producing hair- causing hair to grow even in balding individuals. Propolis is sold in health food stores across the country and online in various forms, including: powders, capsules, ointments, and creams. For best results, either make your own cream using powdered propolis and a carrier oil, or try to find raw propolis in resin form and apply directly to the skin. Some individuals have an allergic reaction to the ingredients in propolis. Before applying propolis to a large area of the body, test for a reaction on a small area of the skin first.

I am suffering from thyroid. And weight is too much so can I reduce my weight and which medicine can give me a slim body.

I am suffering from thyroid. And weight is too much so can I reduce my weight and which medicine can give me a slim b...
Relationship between thyroid and weight It has been appreciated for a very long time that there is a complex relationship between thyroid disease, body weight and metabolism. Thyroid hormone regulates metabolism in both animals and humans. Metabolism is determined by measuring the amount of oxygen used by the body over a specific amount of time. If the measurement is made at rest, it is known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR). Indeed, measurement of the BMR was one of the earliest tests used to assess a patient’s thyroid status. Patients whose thyroid glands were not working were found to have low BMRs, and those with overactive thyroid glands had high BMRs. Later studies linked these observations with measurements of thyroid hormone levels and showed that low thyroid hormone levels were associated with low BMRs and high thyroid hormone levels were associated with BMRs. Most physicians no longer use BMR due to the complexity in doing the test and because the BMR is subject to many other influences other than the thyroid state. Relationship between bmr and weight Differences in BMRs are associated with changes in energy balance. Energy balance reflects the difference between the amount of calories one eats and the amount of calories the body uses. If a high BMR is induced by the administration of drugs, such as amphetamines, animals often have a negative energy balance which leads to weight loss. Based on such studies many people have concluded that changes in thyroid hormone levels, which lead to changes in BMR, should also cause changes in energy balance and similar changes in body weight. However, BMRs are not the whole story relating weight and thyroid. Thus, the relationship between metabolic rates, energy balance, and weight changes is very complex. There are many other hormones (besides thyroid hormone), proteins, and other chemicals that are very important for controlling energy expenditure, food intake, and body weight. Because all these substances interact on both the brain centers that regulate energy expenditure and tissues throughout the body that control energy expenditure and energy intake, we cannot predict the effect of altering only one of these factors (such as thyroid hormone) on body weight as a whole. As a consequence, at this time, we are unable to predict the effect of changing thyroid state on any individual’s body weight.

I always have pain in my side portion of leg. It irritates me too much. It has also increased my pain in my back.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
I always have pain in my side portion of leg. It irritates me too much. It has also increased my pain in my back.
Sciatica refers to pain that begins in the hip and buttocks and continues all the way down the leg. This condition is often accompanied by low back pain, which can be more or less severe than the leg pain. The term “sciatica” indicates that the sciatic nerve, which travels from the lower back through the buttocks and into the leg, is thought to be the cause of the pain in this condition. True sciatica is a condition that occurs when a herniated lumbar disc compresses one of the contributing roots of the sciatic nerve. This type of low back pain is less common than other causes and conditions that produce back pain. Homeopathy as a natural system of medicine offers distinct advantages to the people who suffer from sciatica. The biggest advantage that homoeopathy offers is that it is able to treat the pain very effectively and is able to rectify the compression or irritation on the sciatic nerve. Another great benefit of using homoeopathy is that along with the treatment of sciatica homoeopathy also aims at strengthening the patient’s constitution in order to prevent further recurrences. Wear and tear phenomena are common for everyone. If you happen to use the bones in one position only all the time or most of the time, then, naturally, that point will suffer more friction loss than other places. If friction loss occurs evenly, people will lose some height only with age. But, if it has not occurred evenly then, more friction loss occurring in one place can damage disc to cause disc degeneration or disc bulge or disc prolapse which can induce sciatica. So, caring position is equally important against medicines to rule out exciting cause or maintaining cause. The goal of treatment should not be aimed only at relief but also to prevent recurrence. Rebounding, recurring attack can be given knock outs, when the reviver counsels the sufferer about correct posture in addition to drugs. In addition, “No more attacks” can be brought easily, when a Homeopath selects and prescribes a right drug constitutionally with detailed analyses of cause, nature of pain, aggravating factors, characteristic symptoms of disease and characteristic symptoms of the sufferer. Homeopathy can provide miraculous relief from this nervous pain without any side-effects by controlling the inflammation and infection of the nerves. Also, Homeopathy can treat paralysis or weakness of the leg by rejuvenating the sciatic nerve. It favours enhancement of neuron regeneration / reduction of disc bulge / ruling out other causes to revive impinged nerve. You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. I am suffering from acidity. When I ate spicy food my stomach burns. What should I do?

I am suffering from acidity. When I ate spicy food my stomach burns. What should I do?
Hello- Suffer from acidity or acid reflux too often and are tired of having antacids? Well, there are natural remedies you can get rid of the problem. Thought to be due to increased pitta or the lack of digestive fire, Ayurveda prescribes a number of remedies for the condition. Not only are these home remedies sans any side-effects, they will also help resolve the discomfort that comes with hyperacidity in jiffy. So to help you beat heartburn, here are 10 home remedies that actually work. You can also get quick relief from acidity with this yoga pose. (Beware, sometimes what seems like acidity could actually be a heart attack, especially in women). 1. Eat a ripe banana for some relief. You could also eat an overripe banana to beat an especially bad bout of acidity, as they tend to contain more potassium which makes it the perfect antidote. 2. Chewing on five to six tulsi leaves when you suffer from acidity is a great way to beat the discomfort you feel. 3. It is essential that you have the milk cold and without any additives like sugar. You could even mix it with a spoon of ghee to make the remedy even more effective. 4. While simply chewing on a few saunf seeds can help reduce the symptoms of acidity, as a long term remedy, boil a few seeds in water and leave overnight, drink this water during the day when you feel uneasy. 5. You can chew a few seeds of jeera to relieve acidity or boil it in water and drink the solution when it has cooled down. 6. In case you’re suffering from acidity, bite a clove once so that the juice is released and then keep it in the mouth. The slowly released juice will immediately lower acid reflux and give you some relief. 7. To relieve acidity crush two pods of cardamom (with or without the skin), boil the powder in water and drink the cooled juice for instant relief. 8. If you feel an attack coming on chop some mint leaves, add them to a pot of boiling water and drink this water after it cools. You could also try mint to calm indigestion 9. For relief from acidity, chew a small piece of ginger. If you find that too pungent, try boiling it in water and drinking the decoction. Another remedy is to crush ginger, mix it with a small piece of jaggery and keeping sucking on it allowing the juice to slowly reach the stomach. 10. Amla is a kapha and pitta pacifier apart from having high amounts of vitamin C that helps in healing the injured stomach lining and oesophagus.

And what current medications and remedies you already tried to treat acne? acne is a common problem in teen. Almost everybody will get pimples during their teen years. First, don't try to self treat acne. Some popular nonprescription acne lotions, cleansers and other skin products can cause a serious reaction (rare), mostly it is normal to have acne in teenage. For pimples it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface, avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e or any self prescribed preparations on scars or pimples. Increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids through a diet significantly rich in fish and seafood results in lower rates of an inflammatory disease like acne. A low-glycemic-index diet also reduces acne risk. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Hello, you can take homoeopathic medicines 1. Kali brom 30 (4 drops in little water) thrice a day for a week. 2. Berberis aquifolium q (10 drops in little water) thrice a day for a week and revert. You should try to focus on face to face communication with your son each day without judging or giving advice to him. When your son reacts with attitude to a discussion, take a deep breath and continue calmly with what you wanted to say don't shout on him.
