That is called as Lumbar Vertebrae. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain.

Hello lybrate user, - 1st this is be be get diagnosed, what is the reason for your pain. - any investigations done? need to know - if not get it done x-ray to see any changes in spinal bones. - for now apply mahanarayana taila with eucalyptus oil and take hit fomentation that will relive your pain and also strengthen the joint, relaxes the muscles. - take yogaraja guggulu 2-0-2 for 10days. - reduce the works which usually trigger the pain like heavy lifting, bending twisting - maintain aways an errect posture while sitting report back with investigations. These are possibly snapping sounds from tendons. You need to do more exercises. It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

I have compression btw L3 & L4 in spinal cord. Doctor has advised for Rabolin, which is pain killer, for over 15 days. Now I am on Zynoflam Forte for last 10 days. Even after physiotherapy and daily morning evening exercise i have very little improvement. Should i continue with Zynoflam?

Hi, In physiotherapy if you are age is below 50 you can go for intermittent lumbar traction as well as interferntial therapy with spinal exercises. You will subside this pain with in 20 days need not to go for pain killars unless you have untouchable pain

Hi it can be fibromyalgia. Some test may be required like cervical xray, diabetes, calcium, vitamin d etc. But first it will be good if you visit orthopaedic or physiotherapist personally for clinical examination. Meanwhile take hot water bath twice a day and take healthy and balanced diet. Best wishes.

Hot fomentation x twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction. Sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily bhujang asana x 15 timesx twice daily core strengthening exercises. Back stretching.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

I am 53 years old. In my work i will be standing for long hours. I also drive Two wheeler for a long distances. Now my problem is I am having severe back ache and I visited few doctors and used the pain relievers and antibiotics but no relief. As per the doctors advise I am sleeping on the floor without pillow. So can you suggest me any medicines from your end for relief.

As your work involve two wheelar drive and standing long hours you should use lower lumber belt to give support while driving as your back gets jerks while driving so it will give support to your back secand you should to isometric exercises for your lowerback and some exercises to improve core muscle strength that will help you .

I have problem with my right hand (especially shoulder). Whenever I am working out with my shoulder it takes jerk after 2-3 reps and it is always swollen. I also done X Ray for the same and completed the medicine course too but I still cannot get any satisfactory results. I have this problem from 4-5 months. Currently I also stop my workout. Backpain lasting for 2 years must be having a underline cause which you need to attend soon. Try paying a visit to a physiotherapist for proper evaluation. In the meanwhile take care that you maintain correct posture all the time and perform simple forward and backward movement of back.

To relieve neck pain try some home remedies: alternate heat and cold: reduce inflammation by applying cold, such as an ice pack or ice wrapped in a towel, for up to 20 minutes several times a day. Or alternate the cold treatment with heat. Try taking a warm shower or using a heating pad on the low setting. Home exercises: begin daily gentle stretching, including neck rolls and shoulder rolls, once the worst of your pain has subsided. Gently tilt, bend and rotate your neck. Warm your neck and back with a heating pad or in the shower or bath before doing these exercises. See a physical therapist who can instruct you in doing these exercises. Most neck pain is associated with poor posture combined with age-related wear and tear. To help prevent neck pain, keep your head centered over your spine. Some simple changes in your daily routine may help. Consider trying to: use good posture. When standing and sitting, be sure your shoulders are in a straight line over your hips and your ears are directly over your shoulders. Take frequent breaks. If you travel long distances or work long hours at your computer, get up, move around and stretch your neck and shoulders. Adjust your desk, chair and computer so that the monitor is at eye level. Knees should be slightly lower than hips. Use your chair's armrests. Avoid tucking the phone between your ear and shoulder when you talk. Use a headset or speakerphone instead. Avoid carrying heavy bags with straps over your shoulder. The weight can strain your neck. Sleep in a good position. Your head and neck should be aligned with your body. Use a small pillow under your neck. Try sleeping on your back with your thighs elevated on pillows, which will flatten your spinal muscles. Best wishes.

This back pain is due to no back exercise. Due to this muscle get stiff. When suddenly you get move fast that time this stiff muscle get break and pain start. In ayurved there is mentioned one procedure kati basti. Do this for five days with medicated oil if you want to do it you should do it under doctor observation. So consult ayurvedic doctor near you. You will definitely get good result.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. This is a description of radiological changes of osteo arthritis of knee. My advice will be: - start doing daily brisk walks for at least 2-3 km in a day in mornings. - intensive knee - quadriceps and hamstring strengthening exercises should be initiated initially in presence of a trained physical therapist and then at home on your own - avoid sitting cross legged, not to use indian style washrooms, do not do anything which eccentrically loads the knee and increases cartilage breakdown. - adequate calcium and vitamin d metabolism in terms of appropriate intake is important to keep bone metabolism ok - you can take short course of anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine on sos basis especially when there is an episode of inflammatory pain, swelling etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.
