Dear Lybrate user If you have swelling, be sure to remove all rings, anklets, or any other jewelry that goes around your leg or ankle. Use rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) for pain and swelling. Stop, change, or take a break from any activities that cause your symptoms.

There are many causes of non-traumatic leg pain. Pain in the leg may be present because of several conditions that may affect joints, muscles and nerves, as nerve compression at the lumbar level of the spine. If you are overweight, try to lose weight. If the pain in the leg is associated with low back pain, then a nerve compression is needed to be checked out. The back pain associated to a nerve compression can produce an inflammatory process that affects nerve roots, and starts traveling pain to the lower limbs and other symptoms as numbness. Muscle cramps are extremely common, and nearly everyone experiences a cramp at some time in their life. Cramps are common in adults and become increasingly frequent with aging. Increase water intake. Include physical activity in your routine ,walking is a good exercise.

Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front.

Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Hellow Mr. lybrate-user, Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of problems with any parts of the complex, interconnected network of spinal muscles, nerves, bones, discs or tendons in the lumbar spine. Typical sources of low back pain include: The large nerve roots in the low back that go to the legs may be irritated The smaller nerves that supply the low back may be irritated The large paired lower back muscles (erector spinae) may be strained The bones, ligaments or joints may be damaged An intervertebral disc may be degenerating While back pain is extremely common, the symptoms and severity of back pain vary greatly. A simple lower back muscle strain might be excruciating enough to necessitate an emergency room visit, while a degenerating disc might cause only mild, intermittent discomfort. Identifying the symptoms and getting a diagnosis that pinpoints the underlying cause of the pain is the first step in obtaining effective pain relief. Treatment for lower back pain depends upon the patient's history and the type and severity of pain. The vast majority of lower back pain cases get better within four to six weeks, and lower back pain exercises are almost always part of a treatment plan. please take these medications as primary treatment plan, & have a thorough consultation with us as early as possible. It seems that you might be suffering from frozen shoulder. So go to some orthopedic and check. If its there you can go for Homoeopathic medicine which is more effective and safe instead of allopathy. Consult me online for Homoeopathic treatment.

According to your weight and height ,u are overweight, you might be suffering from osteoarthritis knee. Knee pain is common in obese people. Try to reduce weight gradually. U can take pain killer for couple of weeks ,and still pain persist ,consult pain physician.

Hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck Exercises. Neck Stretching. Postural Correction. Shoulder Shrugs . Core Strengthening Exercises. Take frequent Breaks at work Use cervical pillow. Use Back Support. Self Massage the back of neck.

I was doing my workout from past one month including 3 to 4 km running, 2 sets (20) of ladder up and Down and 1 hour gym session in morning. But from last saturday while doing Squat exercise there is lots of pain going on my lower legs. Below knee. Now I am unable to run not even 1 km. My physical test of running 1.6 km in 6.30 minute is coming next week but due to pain I am unable to run Please suggest something better and how to to increase my running so I complete on time. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

If the pain is restricting activity ideal to undergo arthroscopy surgery. If there is no pain but only a nagging sensation. Then you can just do Physiotherapy.

Hi, Take Balarista 2tsf 3 times a day, mixed with equal quantity of water and Maharasnadi Khadha 2 tsf 3 times a day, mixed with equal quantity of water. Take tab. Nucart OA 1 tab 3 times a day continuously for 1 month. Apply Rumalaya liniment to the affected joints and massage in circular motion for 10-15 mins and then take hot water fomentation. Avoid potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet pumpkin, peas, channa, recently harvested rice, jackfruit, etc. Which aggrevate the pain. You can even undergo physio- therapy for 10-15 days.

She may be having osteo arthritis. Get her examined by orthopedic specialist for advice and treatment. Apply crepe bandage, give hot fomentation, take calcium and vit D supplement, apply volini gel.

My mother is aged 90 years ,her left clavicle broken on 23rd March, taken to an orthopedic she was given brace to wear 21 days and vitamin D and calcium syrup other than paracetamol tab (for use in the event of pain). Now I am not satisfied with outcome of the treatment regime as there appears some lacking in alignment to me. Is there any way to ascertain the state or progress of healing and for corrective further treatment? And how to go about it?

Dear, The treatment for clavicle fracture can be conservative (non-surgical) or surgical. Most patients do well with non-surgical treatment although there will be some overlap of the bones. However usually there is no restriction of function due to the overlap. What is more important is union of the fracture. The other option is surgical treatment with plates and screws. This is usually needed for severe displacement or for those who need early recovery. The risk of non-union is there in both treatment options.
