Acne Marks - How To Manage Them?

Are you tired of those acne and pimple marks which keep popping up on your face and do not let you boast of that flawless skin? Acne and acne marks are both very irritating as these hide the beauty of your skin. But there are many methods in which you can use to remove your acne and pimple marks without much ado. While many ointments and chemicals are available in the market, at times simple home remedies are also equally effective. Here are ten effective ways to remove your acne marks.

  1. Aloe Vera Gel: Fresh Aloe Vera gel helps the affected region to cool down and the marks to fade in no time. Apply aloe Vera gel every day and leave it overnight for best results. These are available in pharmacies and chemists but it is best to get fresh and organic ones to apply onto your skin.

  2. Baking Soda: Baking soda exfoliates and cleanses the skin. Apart from its various uses in cooking, baking soda also helps in removing scar marks naturally.

  3. Coconut Oil: Coconut oil can be applied directly in the affected region. It acts as a natural cleanser due to the various vitamins present in it. However, in case you find the oil too heavy for your skin, you can wash it away after keeping it for thirty minutes. Else, it can be worn as the skin absorbs it naturally.

  4. Cucumber: There is a reason cucumber is used in facials all over the world. Apart from hydrating the skin, it also makes sure that the vitamins are absorbed by the skin to keep it fresh, moist and healthy. You can cut cucumber chunks and leave them on the affected area for sometime and rinse your face with cold water.

  5. Honey: Honey might be a bit sticky on your skin but it gives best results when applied daily on the acne scars. However, you must use organic and fresh honey and not the processed one available in supermarkets.

  6. Lemon Juice: Lemon juice can be applied once or twice a day for as long it takes to heal the scar marks.

  7. Potato Juice: Potato juice is a natural healer. Cut a few chunks and press them against the infected area for thirty minutes everyday. You would be scarless in no time.

  8. Vitamin E Capsules: Vitamin E capsules can be punctured and the oil directly used against the acne scars.

  9. Sugar Mask: Sugar Mask can be made with the juice of organic sugar cane, lemon juice and olive oil. It can be applied regularly once a day.

  10. Rosehip Seed Oil: Rosehip Seed Oil is readily available in the market and helps to heal your skin fast.

Thus, these are ten quick remedies that would help you to get rid of those acne scars and produce flawless glowing skin.

Some skin-friendly food choices include: yellow and orange fruits and vegetables such as carrots, apricots, and sweet potatoes. Spinach and other dark green and leafy vegetables. Tomatoes. Blueberries. Whole-wheat bread. Brown rice. Lemon juice Lemon juice is a citric acid and very rich in vitamin C. It exfoliates the skin, an important step in treating acne. All you need to do is squeeze in some lemon juice, apply it on the pimples and leave it overnight. Lemon juice can also be very drying. This is great for pimples, but can be hard on the skin. Mixing a dab of honey will help to balance the dryness. Papaya Papaya contains enzyme called as papain which is used to decrease the inflammation and it helps in controlling the pus formation in acne. Mash up the pulp of papaya well and then apply it on the affected area (or on your entire face), let it work its magic for 20- 30 minutes and then gently wash it off. Tea Tree Oil Due to its strong antibacterial properties, Tea tree oil is an effective remedy for pimples. Unlike the natural oil produced by your skin, it acts like a solvent and penetrates through the extra sebum, unblocks the pores and eliminates the dead cells. Remember to dilute the tea tree oil before you use it. You can mix in a ratio 1: 9 (oil to water). Wash your face with warm water and then use a cotton ball to apply the diluted mixture on the problem areas. Aloe Vera Gel Aloe vera gel has a pleasant soothing effect on the skin. In addition to its antibacterial properties, it also reduces redness and swelling. Aloe vera is a nice indoor plant, so you should consider growing it at home. But you can also buy the extracted gel in a drug store.

Blood In Your Urine - 5 Health Problems That Can Trigger It!

Blood In Your Urine - 5 Health Problems That Can Trigger It!

If there is blood in your urine, it is a sign of renal illness. While this could be happening because of various reasons, it is advisable to see your doctor soon.

Following are the causes of blood in your urine:

  1. An enlarged prostate - An enlarged prostate is a common cause of the appearance of blood in the urine in men who are in their middle ages or older. Enlargement of the prostate gland causes the urethra to be compressed. This prevents the urethra from getting fully emptied while urination.
  2. Cancer - A cancerous kidney, bladder or prostate gland can also cause blood to appear in the urine. It is another major cause of hematuria but usually occurs in older patients.
  3. Infection - Infections like urethritis, pyelonephritis, cystitis or infection in any other body organ along the urinary tract is one of the most common causes of hematuria. Such bacterial infection in the urethra can also infect the kidneys and the urinary bladder. It results in the urge to urinate frequently and also causes blood to appear in the urine.
  4. Kidney stones and bladder stones - Another reason that can cause blood to appear in the urine is the presence of stones in the kidney or bladder. These stones are crystallized minerals that are formed in the kidney or the bladder but fail to pass through the urinary tract. They cause blockage and pain and result in hematuria.
  5. Polycystic kidney disease - PKD is a kidney disorder in which cysts filled with fluid form in the kidneys and impair the kidneys, causing them to fail entirely at times. It is an inherited disease and causes blood to appear in the urine. In children who are between 6-10 years of age, kidney disorder after streptococcal glomerulonephritis can be a possible cause of hematuria.

Excessive Vomiting in Pregnancy - Know Why

While pregnancy is not a pathological condition, it is a happy time that can be marred by various conditions. Debilitating morning or all day sickness, which is usually characterised by nausea, reflux in the gastro esophageal band, heartburn and acidity. This can also turn into vomiting and lead to complications if it does not stop. Persistent, almost daily vomiting can be termed as excessive vomiting in pregnancy, and this is known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum in medical terms.

Let us find out more about this condition.

Routine: Hyperemesis Gravidarum usually strikes as a matter of routine at a set time everyday where the patient will either be in unappetising company of acute and painful acidity and nausea, or will also be vomiting.

Severity: The severity of the condition usually decreases as the patient's pregnancy progresses. Usually, this condition strikes around the fourth or fifth week of pregnancy, before becoming better towards the middle of the second trimester. There are cases, though, where it continues to be just as severe till the very end of the pregnancy.

When to take Action: The patient may have to be hospitalised in case too much vomiting takes place, so as to prevent excess loss of water and salt from the body, and resultant weakness which may affect the growth of the foetus. Also, it is best to call the doctor when you have experienced fainting and dizzy spells.

Causes:

Hyperemesis Gravidarum or excessive vomiting during pregnancy cannot be attributed to any specific or single cause. Usually, it is known to be a genetic condition passed down by mothers to their daughters. But in most cases, doctors believe that the condition is due to hormonal changes where an increase in the HCG hormone, or Human Chronic Gonadotropin hormone level during pregnancy may lead to a variety of symptoms such as morning sickness or excessive vomiting. This hormone is known to be at its peak during pregnancy.

Risk Factors: It has mostly been seen that women who are carrying twins are at risk of suffering from this condition. Also, women who have suffered from chronic motion sickness in the past report excessive vomiting during pregnancy.

Treatment: The best way to treat this issue is to prevent too much of nausea and vomiting with the help of a bland diet that does not have heavy to digest ingredients. Also, it is best to take small and frequent meals.

Working your way around excessive vomiting during pregnancy is a matter of ensuring that you take rest, fluids and other precautions. Speak with us in a private consultation to know more.

Acupuncture - How Is It Helpful To Combat Pain?

Acupuncture - How Is It Helpful To Combat Pain?

Conventional medicine treats pain with the help of medications; by either blocking the transmission of pain signals in the body or by correcting the underlying problems caused by the pain in the first place. However, traditional and alternative forms of medicine such as acupuncture manage pain issues within the body through the means of redirecting disrupted energy flows. One of the very few forms of alternative treatments used in conjunction with conventional treatments, acupuncture is seen as a mercurial rise in popularity in the past few decades.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture dates back to ancient China, about 2500 years ago. It has been widely practiced there for a number of millennia, not only pain relief, but also for treating many ailments. Acupuncture isn’t just considered a form of therapy, but a holistic form of medicine. Acupuncture works on the principle of the flow of energy within the body, also known as ‘Qi’, in traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture strives to correct the disruptions in ‘Qi’ that may cause pain by manipulating over 2000 of the specific pressure points within the body with the help of specially created needles.

Where is acupuncture effective?

Acupuncture is very effective in treating a host of ailments, especially in relieving the associated pain. Some of the areas where acupuncture has proven its effectiveness are:

1. Treating nausea and vomiting caused due to chemotherapy treatment for cancer patients
2.  Very useful in treating post-operative pain caused due to dental procedures
3.  Rehabilitating patients who have suffered strokes
4.  Fibromyalgia (musculo-skeletal pain with fatigue accompanied by sleep and memory issues)
5.  Effective in combating withdrawal symptoms caused due to addiction
6.  Pain from menstrual cramps
7.  Tennis elbow
8.  Osteoarthritis (a type of arthritis caused due to the erosion of tissues present at the ends of one’s bones)
9.  Pain of the lower vertebrae within the spinal column
10. Asthma

How does acupuncture work within the body?

According to modern medicine, the specific pressure points utilized by acupuncture within the body help in releasing chemicals that can block or at least reduce pain. It encourages the flow of chemicals from the brain, which act as nerve and pain blockers. It also helps stimulate the muscles and nerve endings, which can lessen inflammation and thus help in reducing pain.

Acne is a common skin condition affecting teenagers as well as adults. Severity varies from person to person so does treatment. Patient may have comedones commonly called black heads and white heads, papules also called bumps, pus filled lesions, nodules and cysts. Patients may have any combination of these. So only we suggest donot self medicate as it is difficult for anyone other than dermatologist to tell what treatment protocol you need. Treatment of pimple marks and scars also needs specialized approach. Consult a qualified dermatologist.
