I am following a calorie deficit diet can You tell me in what ratio should I intake carbs, proteins and fats.
Make protein at least 30% of your diet, let carbs & fats make up the rest and avoid processed food. Eat more complex carbs or these foods to control your appetite & to give you more energy to burn more calories during your weight loss workouts.

Protein powder is a dietary supplement for people who are trying to gain muscle through strength-training programs, and it can also be used in weight-loss shakes. Protein is a crucial part of everyone’s diet, and athletic people may even need a little more protein than sedentary people, but using protein in its supplemental form can increase your risk of accidentally consuming too much and causing physical damage. Weight Gain Your body uses protein as energy for its cells, and it also uses it to build muscle. However, your body is limited in the amount of energy and muscle it can store from protein. If you take in more protein than your body actually needs – which is easy to do with protein powder – your body won’t use it to build muscle or store it for later use. Extra protein converts into fat, and your body stores it that way as excess pounds. The body's fat storage capacity is limitless. Dehydration Taking too much of a protein powder supplement can increase your risk of dehydration. When your body metabolizes protein, it uses extra water to properly use and eliminate protein byproducts. If you’re using protein powder to enhance muscle gains through exercise, you’re at an even greater risk of dehydration because exercise induces excess fluid loss through perspiration. Signs and symptoms of dehydration are fatigue, headache, lightheadedness, decreased urine output, dry mouth and excessive thirst. Kidney Problems When your body metabolizes proteins, your kidneys are responsible for excreting protein’s waste products, urea, uric acid and ammonia. When your body produces a large amount of urea, your kidneys may become overwhelmed by their filtering task and begin failing, according to the American Association of Kidney Patients. You are at an especially high risk of reduced kidney function if you have an underlying kidney problem, because your kidneys may already have trouble eliminating protein’s waste products. Osteoporosis Your body produces acid when you consume large amounts of protein. To buffer the higher acid load in your body, your bone releases calcium, and the calcium and acid are excreted together through your urine. Chronic loss of calcium in your urine can weaken your bones and may increase your risk of osteoporosis as you age. You are at an even higher risk of osteoporosis if you are a woman. If you’re still interested in trying a protein powder supplement or following a high-protein diet, consult your doctor in advance to ensure that you don’t have an underlying health problem that could be worsened by supplementation. Once you’re given the thumbs up, find a protein supplement that contains all nine of your body’s needed essential amino acids. Most powders have about 20 to 24 grams of protein per scoop, and the average adult only needs about 46 to 56 grams of protein per day. As a point of reference, one 3-ounce piece of meat contains about 21 grams of protein, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Sometimes being skinny isn't something that you want! Looking slim trim and fit is simply amazing but skinny like cloth hanger is not appealing at all. Gaining weight is much more difficult than losing weight. Diet tips: Proteins: Never let your protein intake go lower than 1g/kg of body weight when you are aiming to add long-term muscle. It's the building block of muscle, and your body is going to be starving for it. Carbohydrates: The best range if between 60 and 80 grams of carbohydrates at each meal. Carbohydrates are the body's energy source! Make sure your body has the energy it needs, or again, it will deplete your existing muscle and you'll be back to the stating lint. Have six meals in a day, three big meals and three small. Breakfast, lunch and dinner should be heavy and calorie rich. Eat food like butter, fresh juices, red meat, milk, etc

Home Remedy For Boosting Immunity In Winters

We all love winters as it brings with it a variety of food options, warm drinks, colourful fruits and vegetables. But it also brings ailments like cold and flu specially for kids and elderly.
To make your winters warm and disease free I have come up with a tried and tested home remedy which is passed on in my family for generations and has a lot of medicinal value.
It includes all easily available ingredients from your spice box. It can be made and stored in a cool and dry place.

So here it is

  • 7 tsp turmeric
  • 7 tsp fennel seeds
  • 4 tsp cumin
  • 4 tsp coriander seeds
  • 3 tsp green cardamom
  • 2 tsp ginger powder,
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • Half tsp cinnamon powder
  • Recipe
  • Dry roast cumin, coriander, fennel and pepper. Put all the ingredients in a grinder and grind to a powder.
  • Now store the powder in a dark bottle in a dry place.

How to consume:
For kids

Take a tsp with little honey and give it before going to bed. Do not drink water post this remedy.
Give twice daily.
For elderly

  • They can take 1tsp with honey or if diabetic can take it in morning with a glass of warm water.
  • Can be taken twice daily
  • The amount of fennel and turmeric can be reduced or increased by 1 tsp depending on taste.
  • The fennel will make the powder smell and taste good and sweet too.
  • So try this remedy and let me know the results.

A normal adult sleep must be around 7-8 hours in a day. Fatigue (bodily or emotional weakness) and lack of energy typically go hand in hand. Though both symptoms are common and often mild, persistent or extreme cases may indicate a serious underlying condition, such as depression, testosterone deficiency or a sleep disorder. Since fatigue and energy shifts are symptoms of countless conditions, so do consult us so that we can diagnose the cause and start the treatment. Till then take Gelsemium 200, 4 pills thrice a day for 3 days and report thereafter. Go for CBC and thyroid test done. Do revert back with the reports.

Before your workout: eat healthy carbs, hydrate with water Not fueling up before you work out is like “driving a car on empty,” says Platt, an American Heart Association volunteer. You also won’t have enough energy to maximize your workout and you limit your ability to burn calories. Ideally, fuel up two hours before you exercise by: Hydrating with water Eating healthy carbohydrates such as whole-grain cereals (with low-fat or skim milk), whole-wheat toast (without the fatty cream cheese), low-fat or fat-free yogurt, whole-grain pasta, brown rice, fruits and vegetables Avoiding saturated fats and even a lot of healthy protein — because these types of fuels digest slower in your stomach and take away oxygen and energy-delivering blood from your muscles If you only have 5-10 minutes before you exercise, eat a piece of fruit such as an apple or banana. “The key is to consume easily digested carbohydrates, so you don’t feel sluggish,” Platt says. During your workout: hydrate with water Whether you’re a professional athlete who trains for several hours or you have a low to moderate routine, keep your body hydrated with small, frequent sips of water. You don’t need to eat during a workout that’s an hour or less. But, for longer, high intensity, vigorous workouts, eat every half hour 50-100 calories of carbohydrates such as raisins, an energy bar or banana. After your workout: have fluids, healthy carbs and protein After your workout, it’s time to refuel with: Fluids. Drink water, of course. Blend your water with 100 percent juice such as orange juice, which provides fluids, carbohydrates and potassium. Carbohydrates. You burn a lot of carbohydrates — the main fuel for your muscles — when you exercise. In the 20-60 minutes after your workout, your muscles can store carbohydrates and protein as energy and help in recovery. Protein. Eat things with protein to help repair and grow your muscles, including a whole grain bagel, baked potato, peanut butter sandwich, etc. It’s important to realize that these are general guidelines. We have different digestive systems and “a lot depends on what kind of workout you’re doing,” Platt says. So, do what works best for you. Know that what you put in your body (nutrition) is as important as you what you do with your body (exercise). Both are crucial to keeping your engine performing at its best.

Hi, You should follow tips that can help ypu to loose body fat and no muscle mass: 1. Eat Enough Protein A sufficient daily protein intake is the single most important dietary requirement for maintaining muscle. It’s not meal timing, or supplements, or the exact size of your caloric deficit, or the quality of the foods you eat (more on that nonsense later), or anything else diet related. Nutritionally speaking, losing fat without losing muscle is all about eating enough protein every day. 0.8-1.3g of protein per pound of your current body weight is the sweet spot for people with this goal. 2. Get Pre & Post Workout Nutrition Right: Consume a nice amount of protein and carbs within 1-2 hours before and after your workout. No need to make it any more complicated than that. 3. Don't Reduce Calories By TOO Much.

Stricture Urethra - Surgical Treatment Available For It!

Stricture Urethra - Surgical Treatment Available For It!

The tube transporting urine from the bladder out of the body is known as the urethra. Under normal circumstances, this tube is wide enough for urine to flow freely but in some cases, one or more section can get narrowed and restrict the flow of urine. This may be diagnosed as a urethral stricture. This length of this stricture can range from 1 cm to affecting the entire length of the urethra.

This is caused by scar tissue or inflammation of tissue in the urethra. While this is a common condition that affects men, it is rarely seen to affect women. An enlarged prostate, exposure to STDs like gonorrhoea or chlamydia, suffering from an infection that causes urethral inflammation and irritation or having had a catheter recently inserted can increase the risk of suffering from a urethral stricture. An injury or tumour located near the urethra can also cause this condition. Hence, preventing this condition is not always a possibility.

Common symptoms to look out for include:

  1. Inability to urinate
  2. Reduction in the flow of urine
  3. Increased urge to urinate frequently
  4. Pain while urinating
  5. Urinary incontinence
  6. Abdominal pain
  7. Swelling of the penis
  8. Discharge from the urethra
  9. Blood in the urine or semen
  10. Dark urine
  11. The bladder feeling gull even after urinating

A physical examination and tests that measure the rate of urine flow and chemical composition of the urine can help a doctor determine a diagnosis of urethral strictures. You may also need to undergo STD tests and a cystoscopy. An X-ray may also help locate the stricture. The treatment for this condition depends on the severity of the symptoms.

Non-surgical treatment for this condition involves using a dilator to widen the urethra. However, there is no guarantee the blockage will not recur at a later date. Alternatively, a permanent catheter may also be inserted.

There are two forms of surgical treatment for a urethral stricture.

  • Open urethroplasty: This involves removing the infected or scar tissue and restructuring the urethra. The results of this procedure depend on the size of the blockage. It is usually advised only in cases of long, severe strictures.
  • Urine flow diversion: In the case of a severe blockage and damage to the bladder, the doctor may advise rerouting the flow of urine to an abdominal opening. This process involves connecting the ureters to an incision in the abdomen with the help of part of the intestines.

Sarcoidosis - Can You Be Suffering From It?

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory condition that has been affecting many people of late. In sarcoidosis, tiny granulomas or inflammatory nodules appear in the various organs of the body. The lungs, eyes, skin, and lymph nodes are commonly affected by the condition. Sarcoidosis can also occur in the brain, heart, liver, spleen. The exact trigger for sarcoidosis is not very clearly understood. However, some studies suggest that sarcoidosis may be an outcome of the body reaction (immunological) towards certain allergens, chemicals, viruses or bacteria (foreign bodies).

It should be noted that

  • Incidences of sarcoidosis are common among people in the age group of 20 – 40 years.
  • People with a family history are more likely to be affected by sarcoidosis.
  • Women are more susceptible to sarcoidosis than their male counterparts. The condition is common among the African-Americans.

There are instances where sarcoidosis disappears on its own. However, if the condition persists, it is better to seek medical assistance.

Treatment for sarcoidosis include

  • Immunosuppressant drugs: As the name suggests, the immunosuppressant drugs work by suppressing the immune response. Azathioprine and Methotrexate provide great relief from inflammation.
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs such as Corticosteroids are very effective against sarcoidosis.
  • Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine) is often used to treat skin sarcoidosis.
  • For patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis related inflammation, doctors recommend Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) inhibitors.
  • In the case of organ failure or damage, surgery may be the only option available.

In severe cases, or if left unattended for long, sarcoidosis can result in

  • Cardiac problems, which may prove to be fatal.
  • It can interfere with the normal functioning of the kidney.
  • The lungs may be severely affected and scarred.
  • There may eye inflammation leading to blindness.
  • In some cases, sarcoidosis may affect the nervous system leading to paralysis (though rare).

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. A person with diabetes can drink milk every day, there is no problem. But he should keep the blood glucose in the normal range. Thanks.
