I appreciate your desire to gain weight and bring glow to your face naturally without resorting to any medicines or quick fix solutions. Weight gain needs patience and happens gradually with improved appetite and sensible eating. Weight gain needs a healthy wholesome diet with increase in proteins, healthy fats and required carbohydrate intake. Include more of fish, eggs, chicken, nuts and oilseeds in your diet with ample quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not skip meals and eat frequently. Do some exercise along so that digestion is good. Take care that you do not have constipation and are properly hydrated. It depends mainly on your height also if you are small frame then we should be 70 kg to 75 kg medium frame then 75 to 80 kg large frame then 80 to 89 kg.

Weight gain can happen using psychiatric medicines. You should be eating carefully avoiding processed foods like bread, biscuits, ice creams, less sugar, oil & salt. Avoid too much milk and milk products. Combine fruits, vegetables, salads etc with your regular food.

Please consult a psychiatrist locally who can help you with counselling for quitting smoking and mouth ulcers and joint pain are probably due to viatmin deficiencies to re-assure yourself you can get the following blood tests - CBC-dif, RFT, LFT, TSH, Vitamin D3 levels, S. I would advise you to get a simple blood check done for CBC, Haemoglobin ,thyroid etc so that we can rule out any deficiency / hormonal issue. As far as diet & exercise is concerned, you can follow the basic rules. Weight gain needs patience and happens gradually with improved appetite and sensible eating. Weight gain needs a healthy wholesome diet with increase in proteins, healthy fats and required carbohydrate intake. Include more of fish, eggs, chicken, nuts and oilseeds, Milk & its products in your diet with ample quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not skip meals and eat frequently. For weight loss. It is important to take frequent meals at regular interval of time. Empty stomach try to include 2 tsp aleovera juice+ 2 tsp amla juice in equal amount of water. Include high protein with high fibre diet with less carbohydrate. Avoid to take every kind of packaged, process food and all kind of sugary drink. Try to take your dinner as soon as possible and avoid jogging after dinner, you can go for walk after dinner. You can do exercise in evening time. In Breakfast you can museli/oats+ milk+ 1 apple /1 bowl green moong dal sprouts/1-2 besan cheela+ green chutney. In mid morning 1 cup green tea + 1 bowl fruits. Lunch 1-2 wheat bran roti+ 1bowl veg+ 1 bowl salad/1 bowl veg daliya + 1bowl curd E.T:1 cup tea+ 1bowl roasted channa/murmura Dinner: 1 bowl fruits+ 1glass skimmed milk/Grilled/roasted paneer/1-2 bowl cooked yellow moong dal+ 1bowl veg. After Dinner Take 1 cup jasmine tea.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To increase weight & to become fit you have to have a protein rich diet & do regular exercise - have more of fruits, vegetables, whole grains & protein rich foods such as eggs, milk & milk products, non veg, soya products, tofu, beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, nuts, seeds - include a protein food item in each of your meals & have as a snack in between meals - do regular exercise like jogging, swimming, cycling, also do moderate weight lifting & yoga to build muscles & to keep yourself fit - can consult a dietician for diet chart with your exact calorie & protein requirement as per your constitution, activity level & food habits.

Eat good amount of pulses and legunes daily, Have 1banana with milk daily in breakfast. Include milk-700 ml-900 ml daily. 2eggwhites daily, eat plenty of fruits and veggies.
