I have a pimples on my face and also blackheads how it will be removed? Please advise
For blackhead and pimples reduction you need to have certain modifications in diet like avoid spicy and oily food, add nutritious food like salads and sprouts, be hydrate, take proper sleep and be stress free. Best Home Remedies to get rid of Acne, Pimples, Dark Spots & oily skin are-- 1. Iced Green Tea- Take a glass of warm water and steep a green tea bag into it. Remove the tea bag and pour the contents into the tray. Place the tray into freezer and allow it to form ice cubes Take one ice-cube and rub all over the face. Green tea contains a high amount of antioxidants that fight free radicals that damages your skin. It has antiseptic properties that killed germs that causes acne and pimples and keep your skin beautiful and healthy. 2. Baking Soda and Lemon Juice Mask- Take a bowl add 2 tablespoon of baking soda and add 1/4 cup of lemon juice to it. Mix it properly to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to the affected area. Let it dry for 5 -10 minutes. Once it dries take some water on your hand and slowly scrub the affected area on your face. Wash your face using luke warm water and pat dry. If your face becomes too dry then apply some antiseptic lotion or moisturiser. Baking soda helps to keep the skin pores clean by removing bacteria and excess oil that causes pimples. Lemon acts as a natural bleach that lightens the skin and remove dark spots. It helps to remove the dead skin and gives a fairer complexion 3. Green Coconut Water- Take a cotton dip it in the coconut water and wipe all over the face. Then wash your face using luke warm water. Wash your face with coconut water continuously every day to get best results. Coconut water has cytokinins and antioxidants that helps to eliminate acne, sagging skin and help deep scar recovery. Drinking Coconut water keeps your skin healthy, smooth and younger looking. 4. Fenugreek (Methi) and Rosewater Mask- Soak a handful of fenugreek (methi) seeds in a bowl of water. Leave them to soak for atleast 5 hours. Grind them in a mixer and make a fine paste. Add few drops of rosewater to it. Apply the paste on your face. Before applying the paste wash your face with warm water so that the pores get opened. Let the pack dry for 15 minutes. Once it completely dries rinse with cold water. Fenugreek has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that stops and reduce growth of pimples, blackheads and other skin infections. It helps in nourishing and rejuvenating the skin. Prevent oily skin 5. Fresh Aloevera Gel- Take the aloevera gel and apply to the face. Keep massaging until the gel started to dry. I have androgenic alopecia. Hairs are still falling, I am 23. Can the lost hair come back?

I have androgenic alopecia. Hairs are still falling, I am 23. Can the lost hair come back?
Hair tips for better hair growth and prevent hair fall - 1. Having a healthy diet - Having a diet which is full of protein, vitamins and minerals is an important aid towards having healthier hair growth. Consume food which is high in vitamin A, B, C and E. Vitamin B-complex is another very effective vitamin for promoting hair growth. For the minerals, try and consume iron, copper, zinc, selenium and magnesium. Walnuts, beans, flax seeds are rich in omega 3 fatty acids which are great for hair growth You could also have some juices of fruits and veggies, like orange, grapefruit or carrot, lettuce and beet 2. Castor oil has a high content of vitamin E and essential fatty acids, like omega 9. This is why it is an essential ingredient which helps to promote hair growth. Castor oil is too thick to be applied directly, which is why you must dilute it with oil like coconut, almond or olive. Massage your hair with the oil mix and leave it on for 30-45 minutes. You could also slightly get it heated. Shampoo your hair and condition as regular. 3. Regular scalp massage - When you massage your scalp, it promotes blood circulation which in turn stimulates our hair follicles. Along with that, deep condition the hair once a week with warm oil (use jaborandi oil) treatment or a deep conditioning hair mask. 4. Staying stress-less - Stress is one of the worst factors which contribute to hair loss. Stress disrupts the regular hair cycle and boosts strands of hair to fall out of place. You need to calm your senses and promote lesser stress! For handling stress, try and mediate, do breathing exercises or practice other relaxation techniques 5. Egg masks - Egg is an important ingredient from promoting better hair growth. They are full of protein and are added on with minerals like iron, sulfur, selenium, zinc, etc. Use an egg mask once or twice a month for promoting healthy hair and improved growth 6. Vitamin and herbal supplements - Supplements of folic acid, biotin, flaxseed oil, are some common elements for hair growth. Supplements of folic acid and biotin will have Vitamin B complex which aids to better hair growth. 7. Nourish hair with aloe vera - Aloe vera improves hair growth and protects from hair loss. You also reduce dandruff and restore the natural shine. Take fresh aloe vera gel and add some lemon juice to it Apply and let it soak for 20 minutes Shampoo the hair (with arnica shampoo) and repeat once a week 8. Be hydrated, have proper sleep, do oil your scalp twice a week for more queries and homeopathic medicines, contact us.

Chronic Urticaria - How To Deal With It?

MD - Dermatology, MBBS

Chronic Urticaria - How To Deal With It?

Are you looking for ways to deal with chronic urticaria? This is an uncomfortable skin health condition which is featured by red, itchy welts appearing on any part of your body. The cause of this condition is unknown to us most of the times. When the cause of chronic urticaria cannot be determined, the condition is called chronic idiopathic urticaria. There are several ways of dealing with this condition.

Here is a list of the top ways to deal with chronic urticaria:

  1. Try to Avoid Known Triggers: Avoiding known triggers is the best way of controlling chronic urticaria. You should consult an allergist for determining the triggers which might affect you. The most common triggers include foods such as eggs, shellfish, peanuts, and several food additives. Several pain medications, physical stimuli like temperature, exercise, pollen, and certain bacterial infections and viral infections are common triggers.

  2. Take Your Medicines Regularly: You should regularly take your medicines prescribed for dealing with chronic urticaria. Antihistamines are commonly used. The use of corticosteroids or epinephrine infections may also be required.

  3. Soothe Your Skin: Scratching is bad for your chronic urticaria and should be avoided to prevent the hives from being aggravated. Dry skin triggers scratching and so you should keep your skin well moisturised. Take frequent baths, and use moisturising creams and ointments.

  4. Wear Loose Clothes: Friction and pressure on your affected skin may worsen the hives. You should abstain from wearing tight belts, constricting clothes, and shoes which do not fit well. Choose soft fabric material clothes.

  5. Vitamin D Supplements: Adding vitamin D supplements may help in reducing the symptoms of chronic urticaria. You should consult your dermatologist before taking vitamin D supplements on your own.

  6. Alternative Therapies: Stress accounts for worsening this health condition. You should practice techniques which relax your mind and soul, such as meditation, yoga, and deep breathing. These are effective in stress relief. Some studies state that acupuncture may also be associated with decreasing the symptoms of chronic urticaria.

  7. Manage Your Symptoms: If you are suffering from chronic urticaria, all your efforts will be directed towards managing all the visible symptoms. However, you must also deal with the invisible symptoms such as depression and anxiety. Living with this condition is a challenging and painful task, which often results in depression, and emotional imbalance. Emotional stress, fatigue, and emotional distress are triggered by chronic urticaria.

It is important for you to consult a dermatologist if you experience any symptom of chronic urticaria. Early diagnosis and an early treatment will prevent the condition from worsening further.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy For Hair Growth!

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy For Hair Growth!

Hair loss has become more a social problem than a cosmetic one. With the increased use of chemicals for hair care, increased pollution, stress, and changing lifestyles, there are more people losing hair at a much younger age. While there have been multiple therapies which have been identified for this, including hair transplant and micro needling, one which is least invasive is using the patient’s own plasma which can help regrow hair. With hair loss not just being a cosmetic concern but a major emotional concern (ask one who is losing hair in their 30s!!), there are various takers for this.

The blood has a liquid medium known as plasma. This is rich in proteins and has cells which can grow into different types of cells if required, known as totipotent cells. It also has various growth factors, which promote the growth of tissue where they are. When blood is centrifuged (rotated at high speeds), this separates the plasma. This plasma contains the growth factors and various tissue cells. This is then injected into the scalp via microneedles in the area of hair loss. These cells grow into hair follicles and produce hair.

Features:

  • Using the patient’s own blood, so it is safer
  • Natural results, as it is the patient’s own cells that have grown the hair
  • It is nonsurgical
  • Requires about 1 hour per sitting
  • Quick recovery period
  • Economical compared to other methods.
  • The procedure may need to be repeated if required, depending on the desired results.

PPR is being used widely, either alone or in conjunction with a hair transplant. The growth factors in the PPR stimulate and promote hair growth, even when used in cases of hair transplant. This procedure is also known as vampire hair transplant, as it involves drawing the patient’s own blood and using it for hair regrowth.

Steps:

  • Case discussion where the reason for hair fall is identified.
  • If there are underlying causes like hypothyroidism, they should be treated also for better results.
  • The patient is identified as a suitable candidate for RPR
  • Local Anaesthesia is given.
  • Blood is centrifuged to obtain the PPR
  • PPR is injected into the scalp using microneedles
  • The patient is monitored for a while and sent home
  • Sessions are repeated every month for best results (4 to 6 Sessions).

While some have had very good hair growth, there are others who have not had great results. Results cannot be promised universally and may vary. However, overall results have been promising and PPR is said to become a widely used mode of treatment for hair loss.

Hair loss, now-a-days, is common among males and females of all age groups. We all lose some hair strands everyday, however, some people lose more than normal strands in a day that can cause severe hair loss. Hair loss is mostly genetic, so if hair loss runs in your family, you are most likely to suffer from hair loss too. Hair loss happens either in clumps, that is overall hair loss, or focussed on any one part of head - especially the crown. While genetics play a big role, some additional factors can aggravate hair loss - hormonal imbalance, Alopecia areata, stress, thyroid disease, anemia, protein deficiency, chemotherapy, and low vitamin levels may cause hair loss in you. Start by following a good diet - Eat adequate amount of protein. Your hair is made up mainly of proteins. Eat eggs, cottage cheese, chicken, soya, lentils, whole grains. Vitamin C, Zinc and Vitamin B are other important nutrients for great hair health. So include lot of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your daily diet. Exercise daily to keep yourself healthy inside out. Next important step is to follow good hair care - Oiling your hair with a mixture of oils like olive, sesame, coconut and castor oil keeps provides moisture to your hair and prevent them from drying and breakage. Once in a week apply a good hair mask. You can mix and prepare different types of masks using eggs, green tea, olive oil, milk, gooseberry, thyme, chamomile etc. Condition your hair using organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Rosemary tea once in awhile. A good dermatologist can successfully reduce hair fall by conducting some tests beforehand that includes blood tests, iron level, vitamin B, thyroid function tests and a biopsy of the scalp. Since some hair loss is temporary, your hair will grow back on its own without medical treatment. More serious hair loss can be treated with creams, oral drugs and surgery. Dermatologist can give your head a fuller appearance with the help of hair transplants and scalp reductions, which is successful both in males and females. To determine the best technique for your hair loss issue, consult a good dermatologist.

Homeopathic Treatment For Hair Fall!

Homeopathic Treatment For Hair Fall!

Hair loss, as the name itself implies, refers to the loss of hair from scalp / head; another term used to describe this is alopecia. It is a broad term that also includes thinning of hair. While genetics plays a vital role in this condition that afflicts both men and women, there are several other factors that are involved in bringing on this problem in people. In order to understand the reasons for hair fall better, it is essential that you learn about the various growth stages of hair.

The hair growth cycle consists of three phases:

  1. The first phase is the anagen phase, which is an active phase in which the hair grows. This phase lasts for around 2-7 yrs.
  2. The second phase is the catagen phase. The catagen phase immediately follows the anagen phase and lasts for around 10- 14 days during which the hair stops getting blood supply and becomes dead.
  3. The third and the last phase is telogen phase, which is a resting phase. In this phase, the dead hair falls out and the hair follicles remain in rest or inactive stage for about 2-3 months.

After completion of last stage, the entire cycle is repeated. Each single hair undergoes these three phases of growth independent of the other hair on the scalp. Normally, at a given point of time about 90% of hair is in the anagen phase and only 10% is in the telogen phase. When this ratio is altered, it leads to increased rate of hair loss. Hair loss can occur at any age, and can be prevalent in both males and females. Hair loss in itself is not a disease, but a sign that often indicates various other diseases. Hair loss occurs as a result of various diseases or factors and in different patterns.

The various causes / factors leading to hair loss include:
Skin diseases affecting the scalp like fungal infection of scalp known as tinea capitis, seborrhoea (dandruff), eczema of scalp, or lichen planus.

  1. Genetic factors
  2. Hormonal changes including those that occur after childbirth and during menopause
  3. Nutritional deficiencies due to a diet that lacks iron (leading to anemia), and also lack of protein intake
  4. Recovery from acute fever like typhoid and erysipelas leads to diffuse hair loss
  5. Drug use like the ones that are used in treating high blood pressure, joint pains, cancer, or depression. Anagen effluvium refers to the condition of hair loss due to chemotherapy in a cancer patient
  6. Physical trauma / injury to head
  7. Emotional trauma like constant stress or grief due to loss of a family member / close friend
  8. General diseases like diabetes mellitus, tuberculosis, Hypothyroidism, or AIDS
  9. Auto-immune related hair loss in which the hair cells are mistaken for a foreign body and are destroyed by the immune cells of the body
  10. Hairstyles like tight braids or ponytails where the hair is tightly pulled backwards leading to traction alopecia; indiscriminate use of hair colors and hair straighteners
  11. Trichotillomania, which is a mental disorder in which the affected person voluntarily pulls out his / her scalp hair

Homeopathy for hair growth

Want Blemish Free Look? Tips You Must Follow!

We all love that perfectly glowing skin that has no marks or signs of ageing like moles, tags, fine lines, dark circles and many others. However, for most of us, this remains an imaginary picture that we have in mind. What stares back at us in the mirror has some of the above noted features, in various combinations. However, the desire for that blemish-free skin without any of these continues and is actually not far from reality too.

Some major irritants causing skin scars are as follows:

  1. Vascular marks including thread veins and broken capillaries.
  2. Spider nevus is a spider-web like structure with a central vessel and surrounding capillaries dilated radiating away from it. Similarly, blood spots are red, vascular spots that come with ageing.
  3. Skin tags or milia or warts, these are harmless but esthetically concerning and can irritate if found in an area where it interferes with the garments
  4. Age spots or brown spots that occur due to sun exposure are also harmless but are esthetic concern.

With esthetics attaining such importance, new ways are constantly being identified to help people improve their looks. While there are various creams and lotions and serums with promises of various chemicals that can do wonders, there actually are procedures that have a scientific basis and can produce results more quickly and effectively.

The following are some popular advanced cosmetic procedures (ACPs) that can help clear these blemishes and produce a spotless, clear skin.

  1. Chemical peels: This is an exfoliation process done in the clinic, by removing the top layers of rough skin, thereby, making space for new skin to grow. It stimulates growth of collagen and elastin, and promoting new skin growth. It can also be combined with topical antioxidants such as tretinoin and vitamin C, which are proven beneficial for the skin.
  2. Dermabrasion: Used in a variety of conditions (acne, wrinkles, blemishes), it works on layers that are far deeper than a chemical peel. A rotating brush is used to remove the upper layers of the skin, leaving the underlying layers open. The removed layers of the skin may form a scab, and can be mildly painful. The doctor may decide to use a mild local anesthetic if required.
  3. Laser skin resurfacing: The skin has an upper thicker layer and an inner thinner layer. A small amount of laser is applied to the underlying layers to stimulate them to produce collagen. The top layers are kept cool with a gel. The extra collagen produces improves elasticity and produces younger looking skin, removing all blemishes.

All these are equally proven ways to treat blemishes. The decision of choosing one particular method should be completely based on your expectations.

If you wish to discuss about any specific skin problem, you can consult a specilized dermatologist and ask a free question.

My sister is loosing hairs quickly unke baal bhut patle hote ja rhe hai what shoud she do.
Dear lybrate-user, Hair fall is a very common problem, if you are losing few hairs then it is normal and you need not stress as stress can increase the problem. There can be many reasons for hair fall like the one you are describing. If you are seeing bald spots then it could result in alopecia and you need to see a doctor immediately to stop it from spreading and ultimately resulting in baldness. Temporary Hair fall caused by nutritional deficiency, long term effect of stress, pollution, use of a chemical based product. 1.Scalp Infection: Inflammation condition, dandruff, dermatitis, psoriasis. 2.Due to internal illness like typhoid 3.Drug use of antihypertensive and anti depressant. 4.Overuse of hair product 5.Genetic factors: if it runs in the family. 6.Environmental factors-pollution, toxic chemicals But do not worry, your hair can grow back, for hair growth to begin there must be healthy hair follicle and healthy papilla to feed it. Because new follicles are not formed after birth, any improvement in hair growth has to be aimed at existing follicle one could either improve the quality of hair already being produced or incite new growth in the dormant follicle. Quality of hair cannot be solely improved by using cosmetic products but it needs to be corrected constitutionally and internally, therefore, following a diet and medicines for the same is mandatory. You can book your appointment so that I can provide you with a personalized solution. Meanwhile, you can follow these tips for healthy growth and stoppage of hair fall. 1. Use the right type of oil for your hair, if your hair is dry you can use Valeda Herbal Brahmi Hair oil and if it is oily you can go for water based Valeda Herbal Chamomilla Hair Tonic, it will strengthen your hair. 2.Address the root cause of hair fall for long lasting results. Root cause lives in the roots itself 3.Eat more green leafy vegetable as they are rich in fibers and prevent hair fall. Also consume milk, butter, vit B-complex, vit-C. Food like-sprouts, whole grain etc, wheat provide essential nutrients your hair needs to grow. 4.Conventional Ayurveda treatment for hair loss has wide acceptance for its zero side effect and long lasting results. 5. Avoid harsh sun and protect your hair. 6. Do not comb wet hair as they are fragile. Use neem wood comb to ensure good blood circulation and comb more often. You can choose a wide toothed comb. For any further and specific assistance that you may need, please feel free to book an appointment as per your convenience.

What Causes Female Facial Hair?

What Causes Female Facial Hair?

Though most may not admit, all women have hair on their face and body. It is often masked by home remedies or clever make up tricks or frequent visits to the beauty salon. If you see a sudden spike in coarse or dark hair, especially on your face, it can be an embarrassing social condition.  Here are some insights into the condition and what you can do to get rid of it.

Blame it on your hormones:
In most cases, you can easily blame this condition on your hormones. Male hormones called androgens are responsible for the development of certain 'manly' features like deepening of voice or production of sperm. And the one hormone behind all this is called testosterone.

But women produce testosterone too- albeit in smaller quantities. If, for some reason, this hormone's level increases in women, it leads to increased sex drive, irregular menstrual cycle and yes, excessive facial and body hair.

One of the main causes of high levels of male sex hormones in premenopausal women is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition which causes cysts to grow around the edge of the ovaries (the organs which produce eggs and sex hormones).  PCOS also results in excessive hair growth, acne and weight gain.

Some women are stuck with this condition in the post menopause stage too, when the hormonal imbalance fails to rectify itself after menopause has passed.

Besides blaming it all on the hormones, here are some other causes you can explore:

  1. Being obese (weight gain is a side effect of PCOS too, so this is a slightly tricky one)
  2. Side effects from blood pressure medication
  3. Hereditary condition: Blame your genes
  4. Cushing's Syndrome or Acromegaly - rare hormonal disorders
  5. An Ovarian tumor

Treatment
Usually, cosmetic remedies are enough to get rid of unwanted or excess hair. So you may not have to go out of your way to handle this problem unless you have a special case. Most cases can be treated with

  1. Shaving: Not the most womanly thing to do, but it is quick and easy. Mind the stubble between the shaves
  2. Waxing: This is a pretty much standard procedure
  3. Bleaching: Can work for areas you don't want to shave
  4. Hair removal creams: Try and test out to see which one suits you
  5. Laser treatment: A powerful beam of single color light is used to destroy the hair from its root

If you are not sure what to do with an excessive facial hair problem, consult our experts today for a quick and easy remedy.
