I have migraine problem so taking antidepressants now my brain activities have decreased.

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Bangalore
There are other medications to treat migraine. But the drugs given to you must be dicussed with your doctor.

I was taking glycomet gp 0.5 forte twice daily for two years and sugar levels were in control avg fasting=120 & pp 140, but since the beta cells would eventually be destroyed by the said combination the doctor changed the medicine to galvus met 50/500 twice aday. But now sugar levels are avg fasting=160 & pp=190. Kindly suggest a safer and apt medicine for controlling diabetics. Am a diabetic for past nine years.

Hello, thanks for the query. Earlier there was a feeling that glimiperide or other sulfonylureas (sus) may be causing exhaustion of beta cells. But recently in various conferences, I heard a number of top diabetologist and endocrinologist saying nothing that kind happens. In india due to cost considerations sus are being used quite extensively for many years in a large number of patients. So unless there is a clear increase in blood glucose levels there is no reason to change. But additional drugs can be added to the therapy. Many of my patients are on sus and metformin for over 15 years and still well controlled. What is the present hba1c%? If that is around 7% then still control is good enough. There are other options like sglt - 2 inhibitors along with present treatment, particularly if there is excess weight. Thanks.

Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk or water will not do.

There's no "normal" amount of masturbation. Guys can get hung up on whether they masturbate too much. But it's not how many times you masturbate in a week (or day) that really matters. It's how it fits into your life. If you masturbate many times a day and have a healthy, satisfying life, good for you. But if you masturbate many times a day and you're missing work or giving up on sex with your partner because of it.

There are many myths about masturbation. Even though many of these have been debunked several times, they seem to resurface time and time again. Most claims about masturbation are not backed up by science. There is often no scientific evidence to show that masturbation causes any of the adverse effects suggested. Masturbation will not cause: blindness hairy palms impotence later in life erectile dysfunction penis shrinkage penis curvature low sperm count infertility mental illness physical weakness some couples worry that their relationship must be unsatisfying if either one of them masturbates; this, too, is a myth.

I am suffering from cubitus varus in my left arm. I am 17 years old. I want to look good. Can I build muscles even on having this deformity in my hand?

BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
It's very difficult, because of muscles won't contract properly due to stiffness in the joint and tightness present in the muscles.

I am 23 years old ,with no medical condition, whenever I hit gym my creatinine level became 1.35 mg/dl. Is this normal or does it indicate any health issue regarding kidneys?

Although there is no correlation. You need to consult some physician for a checkup. It is very important to go for health check-up with your doctor so that you can be physically examined and your overall health can be accessed.

He had clot in brain a year back, due to which his one side paralysed. After that he recovered from the clot but paralysis treatment is going on since than. There is some visible improvement in leg movement but very less improvement there in hands. People are suggesting for neuro physiotherapy. So I am planning to bring him bangalore and get a better treatment. Do you provide neuro physiotherapy?

Physiotherapist, Navi Mumbai
Hi, it's glad to know that the patient is showing signs of improvements in the leg. Whenever you look back at a case of recovering stroke; it's important to analyse what the activities that the patient was unable to do and with time is showing changes in the status. Even a flicker in the finger is also considered a positive sign. Similarly, try to analyse what are the positives are seen in the upper body too (hand movements). Probably even an action of holding a pen or a spoon can lead to a successful achievement of functions when trained gradually. Also, it's true that neuro physiotherapy plays a very important role in stroke recovery. You may please connect with us on a private chat for further help. Wishing the patient a speedy recovery!

How often should I test my blood sugar, and what should I do if it is too high or too low?

MD - General Medicine, MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
General Physician, Indore
How often should I test my blood sugar, and what should I do if it is too high or too low?
Type 2 diabetes. If you take insulin to manage type 2 diabetes, your doctor may recommend blood sugar testing a few times a day, depending on the type and amount of insulin you use. Testing is usually recommended before meals and at bedtime if you're taking multiple daily injections. You may need to test only twice daily, before breakfast and dinner if you only use a long-acting insulin. If you manage type 2 diabetes with noninsulin medications or with diet and exercise alone, you may not need to test your blood sugar daily.
