Taking folic acid doesn't increase the likelihood of pregnancy, it reduces the chances of anomalies so should be taken while planning pregnancy. If only 4 days have passed since missing periods, that is too early to diagnose pregnancy. Wait for atleast 14 days. If still period doesn't come, do a urine pregnancy test.

If you have missed your periods then do a urine pregnancy test for confirmation of pregnancy. If pregnancy test is positive then start taking tab folic acid 5 mg daily. If pregnancy test is negative and you are trying to conceive then also start taking folic acid as it's a prenatal vitamin and if taken 1 month prior to conception is good for fetal neural development.
