Treatment Of PCOS!

Treatment Of PCOS!

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos) is seen in approx 30-40% of infertile females. Most of these women are overweight or obese, the severity of the disease is directly proportionate to wt gain. Increased weight causes insulin resistance, rise in male hormone levels leading to pimples and excessive hair growth and irregular cycles. Ultimate treatment should be aimed at weight loss, lifestyle modification, diet and exercise. Medications like oral contraceptive pills, metformin help to reduce insulin resistance and male hormone levels to some extent. But the results will be temporary unless backed by weight loss. Pcos in lean females need to be treated with medicines and is more difficult to treat. These females should seek advice of fertility expert early after marriage, so that simple options like ovulation induction help them. They need to keep it in mind that they have higher chance of miscarriage than females without pcos. So, do not neglect if you are getting irregular periods, consult your gynaec or fertility expert.

“So if it's just one or two off periods, just keep track of that. But if there's a pattern developing, you'll want to talk to a doctor.” Reasons to see your doctor include. Absent periods: if you've missed three or four periods in a row, or haven't had a period in six months, and you are not pregnant.

Hi! I am ready. 22 years old. I had regular 28 days cycle of my menses which never last more than 5 days never had any problem with my flow or period color. But from july I am having irregular periods which too shocking and uncomfortable for me because I never had any issue before. I took a dose of Ecp (contraceptive pill) on 6 june which are 2 tablets. And after that I took another dose on 6 july. I got my periods on 12 july which lasts 5 days and were normal by flow and color. I then got my first irregular period on 24th july which were brown in color and too light and lasts 5 days. After that I got my periods on 23rd august. A normal period. And again on 7th september I got them for 5 days. Then on 23rd sept. I took Contraceptive pill on 30th september but The same dates are for october I just god my periods after 12 days. I am really worried what's happening. .i went to the gynaecologist and explained her every detail. She did my CBC, Serum B HCG, and ultrasound. My hemoglobin is 9.5,ultrasound was clear. No PCOS. HCG was negative. She did not explained me anything. She just said we will do your day 2 hormone test. Can anyone please tell me? Should I be worried? Or they'll normal after some time? Or is it a side effect of contraceptive pill?

Hi dear, yes usually it will take sme time after delivery for the menses to get regular. Also if you are breast feeding then there will be some delay in menses. If your menses is not regularised within 6 months or a year, get a routine scan. To know more & if you have any other concern you can reach me online & you can receive medicines through courier.

Here are a few tips for preventing and treating vaginal irritation at home: Avoid scented pads or toilet paper, creams, bubble bath, feminine sprays, and douches. Use water and a plain, unscented soap to regularly clean your external genital area. But don't wash more than once a day.
