From last few months I am suffering from joints pain and swelling my Dr. said that it's becoz of aamvat. And said to check my Ra factor. I have done my Ra factor test it's 9.4. Then also my Dr. is saying your symptoms and pain with swelling is same as aamvat. So what should I do shall I go for the treatment or no. Please help I am confused.

Dear lybrate-user, I would suggest you to apply hot water bag to the swollen and painful joints, If small joints like hand and foots are involved then Do hot water fermentation over joints and do mobility exercises for all joints. It will help you to improve your condition.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Inform after 10 days.

Hello, there are many reasons for this type of pain- 1. Overuse of muscle, 2. Deficiency of vitamin d3 or calcium, or lack of water in the body, 3. Postural stress, 4. Muscle strain, etc. Please send me all investigation reports if available. I can help you by teaching correct postural habits and ergonomics, do consult me privately. Till then follow these advises:- 1. Take calcium supplements and calcium rich diet like milk, paneer, buttermilk, cheese etc and sun bath daily to prevent further damage to your joints. 2. Avoid heavy lifting. 3. Avoid squatting and weight bearing activities. 4. Use western toilet. 5. Wear shock absorbing, good quality of shoes while walking. 6. Keep roll of a towel under your knees while sleeping. 7. Perform some gentle exercises and stretching of your all joints before getting out of your bed. 8. Walk straight with shoulder protracted. 9. Perform deep breathing exercises or yoga for proper functioning of lungs. 10. Perform calf pumping exercises, which i'll explain you in the next session. Thanks.

Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -stop normal physical activity for the first few days. This will help relieve your symptoms and reduce any swelling in the area of the pain. -Apply heat or ice to the painful area. One good method is to use ice for the first 48 to 72 hours, and then use heat. Take pain relievers medicine. --While sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -Find a mattress with back support. A good mattress should provide support for the natural curves and alignment of the spine. Medium-firm mattresses usually provide more back pain relief than firm mattresses. -Do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back for the first 6 weeks after the pain begins. -Avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -Good posture plays a key role in your spine health, helping to prevent additional back and neck pain and even injuries to spinal structures. Try to be aware of your posture and make good posture part of your normal routine. -head up, shoulders back, rear tucked under -Stand and walk with correct posture -Sit with support -Lift and carry carefully -And finally, keep moving:-Maintaining a static position for too long—more than twenty or thirty minutes at a time—is hard on the back. Prolonged static posture can slowly deplete elasticity from the tissues. By simply moving—be it a change of position, a stretch, or a short walk—the tissue elasticity needed to protect your joints can be restored and the associated discomfort reduced. -Stretching and strengthening exercises are important. But, starting these exercises too soon after an injury can make your pain worse. -Some Physiotherapy treatment like IFT current can give you relief. -Consult a Physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your back pain. Continuous driving will show effect on the parts used, that is common, may be the seat posture,& hieght of seat you drive also at fault, which can be shown& rectified by any mechanic. Try to sit straight, lie on back, without keeping any pillow, on straight surface, take care that mattress is uniform, without any ups& downs, uneven dofew spscfc exercises, which will be taught by any yoga expert, or physio therapist. By following 2-3 sessions, you can do those regularly at home.

Hello, you can take homoeopathic medicines 1. Urtica urens 30 (4 drops in little water) thrice a day for a week. 2. Causticum 30 (4 drops in little water) thrice a day for a week and update. Keep a gap of 15 - 20 minutes in both the medicines.

Sir, i am suffering from joint. Pains swelling, stiffness(fingers, palm, knees and foot) since after chigungunya, at present I am taking treatment from orthopedic Dr. Aravindam from rajahmundry, he suggested tab. Sazo-500 mg, sorez along with some multivitamin tables( since one month) but no response, my uric acid is 5. 8 mg/dil. Every thing is alright, you suggest me better treatment for relief . Regards

Joint pains and swelling persist for about 1-2 years post viral infections like chikunguniya. There is no specific medicine for it. So rely more on exercises to prevent joint stiffness. Good news is it is self-remitting and will cure itself.

Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold). Avoid Squatting- Avoid sitting Cross legged Contrast bath---It is a form of treatment knee is applied warm water followed by the immediate application of the knee with ice water. This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold. Note that the treatment should always end in the ice water, as heat will induce the body's inflammatory response, while cold helps to decrease inflammation.

It seems you are likely to be suffering from spondylosis of the spine. See a good orthopedic surgeon. After a couple of tests, he should be able to prescribe treatment.

Home remedies for back pain

1. Tie a cup of uncooked rice inside a cloth and heat it for 30 to 60 seconds on the microwave in low setting. Then keep this on the back for relief.

2. Take fresh ginger into pieces, place in the cup of water and boil it for 30 minutes in low flame. Cool for 30 minutes after boiling. Consume this solution with honey.

Consult for Ayurveda tips and treatment.

1. Take a plastic bag with few crushed ice cubes and place it on the painful area.

2. Massage the painful back with castor oil.

3. Consume warm water mixed with 1 tablespoon of honey.

4. Mix equal quantities of cuscus grass and sugar then consume 5 grams of it twice a day with warm milk.

5. Soak wheat along with 1/2 quantity of cuscus grass is mixed with 1/2 quantity of coriander. Mix it with boiled milk 4 times of that wheat. When the milk is left 2/3 of the original quantity then consume it.

6. Take warm water in bath tub and soak in it for some time.

7. Massage with garlic and eucalyptus oil on the painful area.

8. Take 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.

9. Increase the consumption of Vitamin C in diet.

- your question lacks when, how long and whats aggrevates your knee pain, your age as they all points affect correct diagnosis. - there could be deficiency of vit d, ca, increse level of uric acid, gastric problem. To maintain strength abd reduce pain do knee exercises called isometrics if quad (write name of knee exercise in utube to know procedure of exercise) - to reduce pain do contrast bath by dipping and squeezing one hand towel in hit water, apply to affected area, when it cools down immediately apply another hand towel in cold ice water repeat this for 10 - 15 min for 2- 3 times (specially at night)
