Dear Sir My son had did IQ test and his IQ level 68 and he is suffering from depression. He is 25 years Old please gi...
Dear Lybrate user, An IQ of 68 means your son is a slow learner. But with the correct support and education he can learn life skills. If his depression is due to his low IQ and inability to handle everyday tasks, he could need help with his confidence and self-esteem. You can start by complimenting even small achievements, that may not seem important at first. You may want to consult a counsellor/psychologist for further advice.

Boosting Your Child's Immunity - 7 Things You Need To Do Right!

Boosting Your Child's Immunity - 7 Things You Need To Do Right!

Is your child undergoing Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders (PIDDs)? If you are tired of seeing your child suffering with regular cold and cough which could be solely due to a lack of nutrients in the diet, resulting in low immunity of the body. Adopting healthy habits by cutting back on junk food while including healthy items will help raise your child’s immunity levels immensely.

Some of the best foods to include in the diet to increase the immunity of your child are mentioned below:

  1. Eggs, pulses, lean meats and other healthy protein: Immunity buildup may be disrupted if there isn’t enough protein in your diet. Milk protein in cow’s milk or dairy products like butter and cheese, animal protein in lean meats such as chicken and ovo-protein in eggs are highly beneficial and raise immunity levels.
  2. Fish for immunity build up: Fish is a great immunity builder and also helps in making the brain work more efficiently. Fish meat contains lean proteins as well as essential Omega-3 acids which help properly regulate many functions within the body raising immunity.
  3. Stay healthy with yogurt: There are a lot many flavored varieties of curd or yogurt that your child may like and which is also considered as a power food source. It helps reduce gastrointestinal illnesses. However, try and go for the less flavored ones as they would have lesser amounts of processed sugar.
  4. Oats and Barley for your rescue: The reason why oats and barley are healthy alternatives, especially for children is because they are composed of beta-glucan (fibre containing antioxidants and antimicrobial properties). This helps in avoiding constipation thus cleaning the intestine and hence avoiding the buildup of harmful bacteria within the body.
  5. Fruit toppings are delicious: Fruits are not limited to mangoes, apples and bananas only. Darker the color of the fruit, greater is the nutritional value. Berries, peaches, melons, pomegranates etc, can and should also be included in your fruit intake as they are healthy as well as tasty.
  6. Vegetables can be tasty too: Growing children require leafy green vegetables for physical and mental development as they contain zinc, iron and folic acid. Foods like fenugreek leaves and spinach are an example of vitamin rich food items. You can include spinach and other vegetables in a clever manner by making the food interesting so that children would want to eat it willingly.
  7. Carrots to fight infectionCarrots are beneficial for good eyesight and protection from infections. With carrot intake it becomes quite difficult for the bacteria and germs to ender the blood vessels. This can be made into a salad or craved figuring to make it interesting to the kids.

Once you have stopped breast feeding your child then you can consider breast tightening with lift and enhancement and also tummy tuck surgery which will correct the problems and make you feel better.

Merits of extended breast feeding

Breastfeeding up to two years of age or beyond is based on the fact that breast milk is a [key organic source of DHA (Omega fatty acids), vitamin A, calcium and proteins and provides protection against infectious agents][1].

In 2008 the American Academy of Family Physicians said this in their [position paper][2]:

> It has been estimated that a natural weaning age for humans is between
> two and seven years. Family physicians should be knowledgeable
> regarding the ongoing benefits to the child of extended breastfeeding,
> including continued immune protection, better social adjustment and
> having a sustainable food source in times of emergency. The longer
> women breastfeed, the greater the decrease in their risk of breast
> cancer. There is no evidence that extended breastfeeding is harmful to
> mother or child.

[Many scientific studies prove][3] the point that longer breastfeeding [enhances the
neurodevelopment of infants][4] and their intellectual and scholastic ability in later life. **from one of these studies increase in the IQ by breastfeeding is directly related to the duration of breastfeeding**. These benefits are strongest for the infants of low birth weight on breastmilk feeding. It is found that Poor who are more likely to
enter into child malnutrition are more likely to benefit from enhanced optimal breastfeeding

longer breastfeeding promotes suppression of [following Diseases and benefits to the infant][5] :

- Enhanced stereoscopic vision
- Neuromotor development
- Lower chances of obesity in Adult life
- [Increase in height][6]
- suppression of gastrointestinal and respiratory infectious morbidity
- suppression of atopic eczema
- suppression of asthma

[Benefits for the Mother][7]:

- [Weight loss][8]
- lower chances of breast cancer
- lower chances of premenopausal ovarian cancer
- suppression of hypertension
- suppression of type 2 diabetes
- suppression of myocardial infarction (heart attack).

**WHO recommends that breastfeeding should continue for two years or more without accurately establishing a maximum duration for breastfeeding. In addition, there is insufficient evidence on the advantages and disadvantages of continuing breastfeeding after two years.**

[It is unfortunate that about many mothers are unable to breast feed even upto 1 year][9]. This may be because We’ve sexualized the breast so much that people have forgotten breasts are for breast-feeding. There is A [Harvard Study which looks at both health AND cost outcomes for U.S. mothers][10] if they were to breastfeed for 1 year. The study found that if 90% of mothers breastfed, U.S. women would significantly lower their risk of heart attack, breast cancer, and hypertension. On a macro level, further investment in lactation support for moms could prevent $17.4 billion in maternal health costs.

Many mothers have shared [positive Experiences of extended breastfeeding in this article][11]

Pediatrician, Gurgaon
Yes,its correct age to reduce frequency of breast feeds.ideally you should give breast feed s three times ie eight hours between child will need almost sixty to eighty grams of Charles as porridge in three intervals. Please feed child as per age in months to develop correct changeover from breast to semisolid meals. Three months old should be breastfeed at three hry.but six month old should be given after 4-6 hrly.and add thin watery cereal soup two times a day.

There is no permanent treatment for coeliac disease. Best way is to avoid wheet and wheet containing food items as chemical substance called gliadin present in those items is responsible for the problem.

Breastfeeding should be stopped. Breastfeeding can be given maximum upto two years, after that it doesn't provide any nutrition to your child. Stop feeding and your problem will be solved.
