Pistanthrophobia is the fear of trusting people due to bad experiences with prior lovers. It?s such a natural response to being hurt, but if you want to be in a happy, healthy relationship again, then you need to overcome it. The four suggestions below helped me. I hope they can also help you get past things which are holding you back from a brighter future. Don?t assume that the future will be the same as the past.Learn from your past: what were the warning signs that your ex was untrustworthy? - Socializing: Interacting with other people often helps relieve the feelings of isolation associated with depression. Exercise: Physical exercise causes the release of endorphins which reduce pain and lead to feelings of euphoria. If you are over 50, have not exercised recently, or have a medical condition consult a physician before exercising. Meditation: There are many different types of meditation. Most people will benefit from deditation, especially if they find the type best suited to their individual needs and personality. Setting Goals: Try to keep goals achievable and in daily terms. Expecting too much of yourself is stressful. Achieving small goals can boost feelings of accomplishment and self-worth. Stress Reduction: Feeling under stress for extended periods of time can lead to depression. Exercise and Meditation both help reduce stress. Progressive muscle relaxation, self-hypnosis, guided imagery, biofeedback, acupuncture and massages can also help reduce feelings of stress. Supplements:There are many natural supplements which may help with depression. Fish oil and B-Vitamins may also help reduce feelings of depression. Tryptophan: For many people this amino acid, available as a supplement, works well to reduce depression. It also occurs in the following foods listed from highest to lowest concentration; flax seed, cowpeas, pork salami, lentils, turkey, peanuts, chicken, almonds, egg yolk and walnuts.

My son doesnot concentarte while studying and that is why do not remember studies. Otherwise he is active and remember each minute things.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Yes, his problem could be about concentration but let us not assume that he is not intelligent. That might be a huge fallacy: sometimes children who are too intelligent cannot concentrate because the material may be too boring or too mundane for his level. You may check his iq by testing and see if that is true. It is also possible that he is over active and might need more engaging things and activities around him. So you could give him supplementary work at home that is both challenging and interesting. He could also be given a lot of exercise to do by the play way method like, cycling, football, basketball, kids? games that involve running around etc. When he is exhausted he will be more amenable to concentrate. Do not feed him high energy foods. His father? s involvement will go a long way to mitigate these difficulties. In fact he may need a lot of attention, especially of the physical kind to be more balanced. Don't focus too much on his academic skills but on his overall development.

Hi. I have a feeling of stress inside me neck and sometimes it also comes over my nose. I was a smoker for around 9 months but I quit 4 months ago. I have been getting this lump in throat problem for around 1 and half year. Had an endoscopy done but nothing came out. The ENT guy said I just have acid reflux and gave me medicines. The medicines helped me for few days but as soon as the course completed it came back. Can you suggest me a permanent solution for this problem?

Dear friend, congrats for quitting smoking. Now just relax and do these__ gargle twice daily with luke warm water and little bit of salt in this. Increase your water intake. A cup of boiled and cooled milk twice daily will also help. Tell your progress after 15 days to guide further.

No. Any problem if it goes without treatment will never go off on own. E. G. If you have high fever and keep hoping it will go on its own. It will not. Any illness should not be ignored but treated. You are very young and deep depression you talk of - is curable fast - at your age with right diagnosis and treatment. First get psychological testing from a qualified and trained psychologist- a specialist for diagnosis of mental illness and providing counselling and psychotherapy- treatment without medicines. Based on report get recommended treatment from psychologist - if your depression like symptoms have psychological basis or take medicines from psychiatrist if it is an illness to be treated.

Dear Rachel. Welcome to Lybrate. At your age, Memory problems like amnesia, dementia or Alzheimer's are not common. Many young people do complain having problems with memory. These problems are due to either they are too busy or due to anxiety and stress. Busy people use organizers or employ a personal assistant because they can't remember every task. You need to understand this. If you still say, you are having memory problems, we need to check your memory using memory test. You may contact a clinical psychologist or neurologist for memory test and further investigation. Take care.

A person closely related aged 60 is a regular drinker for very long. Gets depressed if he does not drink. Has a tendency to get angry and abuse those who oppose him. Works, but leads a aggressive style. Superstitious and highly operated about people. Is he only alcoholic or has a psychotic problem.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Based on what you say he seems to be having alcohol dependence with personality disorder. Alcohol dependence involves intense craving or desire to drink alcohol. People drink for pleasure or rationalize it on external factors like family problems, work tension, etc. They drink continuously, i.e. Almost daily or even weekly once or twice with withdrawal symptoms, tolerance, bodily damage, etc. Due to alcohol they and/ or others are affected significantly. You need to consult a psychiatrist and go for 3 steps of de addiction. 1st is detoxification, when alcohol is stopped and the withdrawal is made smooth with minimal discomfort, 2 nd is maintenance and further deaddiction when the physical problems and psychological state of the individual is maintained and anti-craving drugs started 3 rd rehabilitation, when relapse prevention is the goal, while maintaining deaddiction. All the best.
