Stress releases hormones like adrenalin and nor adrenalin which increases heart rate, pulse, blood pressure which has adverse effect on the functioning of heart and can lead to heart disease.

I'm having OCD for many years I have identified that it was called" OCD" an year back! But it does not affect my normal life except and ony except my toilet practices! All the time when I go poo I feel like there is still sumthng, and I spend at least half an hour in toilet and I shit less! I have a fear to travel because of this I always think abt my stomach and when i'm thinking I feel so much of gas. I'm tired of this and I wanna get rid of it Is there any simple measures to it which I can do? I just want to be like others.

As of now she needs to continue with the medication. Has she ever spoken to a counsellor? if not please consult a counsellor, who would help her in treating the root cause of her depression. Depressive people are mostly pessimistic and have negative approach to life situations. The counsellor can help her in changing her thought patterns and thereby reducing her depressive recurrent thoughts. Medication and counselling work hand in hand. Medication gives symptomatic relief and counselling will treat the root cause. Please seek counsellor's help.

Hi 1) take 200 ml of fresh buttermilk after meals, 2) eat 30-40 black currants and 1 tsf of jaggery during meals, 3) take 30 ml of juice of indian gooseberry along with 15 ml of honey in morning on empty stomach, 4) take 1 tsf of lavanbhaskar churna after meals, gives you good result, thanks.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. As you are aware, depression is a neuro chemical disorder and therefore the treatment should be targeted towards enhancing or reducing those chemicals biologically. But these medicines are used for maintaining the balance. In that sense, with the present medicines, you will have to continue forever. I suggest online cognitive therapy. Take care.

We would need more information like since when, depressed about what, what are your symptoms etc to help you. Yet it will be good if you see a counsellor and psychiatrist in your city. However, in depression, it is suggested that you look at the positive side of things, find meaning in whatever you consider as a loss to you, exercise a lot, take a walk in the sun, have friends and a social life who are funny, cheerful and progressive, eat healthy food, sleep on time and get up on time, have a daily plan of activities and make sure that you achieve most of it. Negative thinking needs to be challenged with counter thoughts that bring in contradicting evidence. Take support of your family or friends to come out of depression as its difficult to remain self motivated. Yoga, meditation, ayurveda, homeopathy also help a lot in depression without any side effects.

You must check out the leg pains with a doctor, immediately. Sounds to me like you are into an anger related depression. If you have not been on medication and you want to remain so, you will have to work very hard to recover from this condition. You must first of all seek the help of a counselor, ideally. If that person thinks that you need to meet with a doctor you will need to do so and cooperate right through. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night���s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don���t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love: find someone to love and to love you back, if you are not already married. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive everyday and learn to be contended with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

YOu may have hypothyroid and need to check blood CBC and TSH and inform me . For stress relief you do meditation and use less of computer. You will need iron capsule and multivitamins also

Hi. I'm 25 year old woman. I'm suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, fear and depression from past 1 year. My doctor has prescribed me betacap 40 (at morning) and prothiaden 25 (at night), he has also prescribed lonazep 0.25 if I get a panic attack. I have heard that one of the side-effect of lonazep is that it increases the suicidal thoughts in people is it true? I cannot handle that side effect. There are no side effects please take that out of your mind otherwise as it is that fear will not let you survive adequately. Anxiety is curable and follow the medication prescribed by doctor it will start showing its effects slowly and slowly medicines will be tapered. If you are so fearful of side effects you ask you doctor to change it.
