Hello lybrate-user low back pain is more prominent in females. It has several cause for example incorrect postures, gynaecological problem, sadedentry lifestyle lack of physical activity and muscles aches or can be due disc prolapse. Medication is used to reduce symptoms and pain but if she is not getting relief then you should try electrotherapy treatment from a qualified physiotherapist. Physio will check back along surrounding areas and after pain reducing he/she will give you proper back exercise programme.

Hi I can understand your problem. # relax & stay positive. # take hot and cold foementation. # change sleeping position. # use lumber support. # take break every 20 minutes. # do strengthening exercise of back and core muscles not all back pains are same, you need specific treatment plan according to your symptoms. To discuss your backpain in detail reply in private consultation.

Hi My mother aged 75 years. No sugar no bp. Reasonably healthy. But few days back her back bone compressed while travelling. Dr. Advises 3 week bed rest. And advises wear back support belt. But after 3 days now she is still suffering back pain even after taking prescribed tab like nervigen, ultracet, tolpa d, d360, altraday. My quest is should she use back supporting belt while sleep or in bed. Or is it necessary to use belt till back ache healed. How long it may take my mother to walk with in home? now she can't even sit. Can it be curable in home. Or else should I have to admit to hospital. Please answer immediately.

Hello . As you are telling I can get a fair idea that you mother is having vertebral compression fracture. If there is nothing neurologically, I mean no sensory loss or power or bladder and bowel dysfunction then you can continue with the same treatment. Vertebral fractures pain a lot and also take time to heal specially at this age. You need to wear back support for long time (exact duration can be commented only after looking at xray. Pls dont allow her to walk in home also till a month atleast. Feel free to ask any further queries or if you want to share and discuss records. Thanks.

Dear Lybrate user, I'd not advise to quit your job but I'd advise something you should do systematically to get back to pain free life. 1- Consult an Interventional pain specialist or orthopedician trained in spine to rule out any significant problem with your spine ( any chronic pain for more than 2 months is not a symptom but itself a disease of chronic pain, irrespective of underlying disease) 2- Get your Vit D and calcium level checked, if less take supplements or increase it . 3- Take help from specialist about ergonomic/ posture correction at work. 4- Avoid loading your spine by sitting for longer period, you can take intermittent walk or stand in between 5- Take help of Physiotherapist If there is any spasm of muscles at lower back 6- Strengthen Your lumbar paraspinal muscles. These are steps you should take to help yourself from chronic back pain.

Hi doctors, my father age-76 have suffering pain on knee and doctor suggest for knee replacement for gaping. Can you suggest other option to relief him. He is taken pill for pain and many type of balm.

Hi, I would like to answer your query. Your father pain is due to arthritis. For osteoarthritis, weight reduction is the main treatment along with medicines to decrease pain like nsaid's - paracetamol, aceclofenac etc, life style modifications like avoiding sitting cross legged, squatting, using indian type toilets will decrease the rate of progression of osteoarthritis. Exercises like quadriceps strengthening, swimming, straight leg raising will help in improving the muscle strength around the knee and will help in decreasing pain. Hyaluronic acid injections given into the joint (especially large joints like knee joint) in prescribed dosages will give good short term pain relief in arthritic joints ranging from 1-2 years. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Acute onset severe back pain in young adults is commonly due to muscle strain. 1.In severe recent onset back pain you need to take anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen round the clock for 5 days. This will decrease pain and inflammation. 2.Take rest for 3 days but avoid total bed rest. 3. Avoid forward bending and lifting weights. 4. Apply analgesic cream over back followed by warm fomentation. 5. Start back stretching and core strengthening exercises once pain is decreased. 6. Follow proper ergonomics in daily activities like studying or computer work. 7.If back pain is accompanied with radiating leg pain or tingling or numbness in legs consult immediately.

Good morning I am job holder every day traveling 100 to 150 km my legs very pains pls solution pls.
You should start exercising every day so that the bones and the muscle are in good condition. Go for a brisk walk everyday for 20 mins. Make it twice a day later. You can also do Yoga (pranayam and meditation included) to keep your body fit and maintain the energy levels. At the same time beware of the the food that you take. Try to eat only healthy food. Choose natural products over processed food, cold drinks etc. Maintain good hydration by drinking 8-10 glasses of water. Sleep well (7-8 hrs sleep) and get involved into something creative (any hobby which can make you feel good ). It's basically your lifestyle that will help you overcome your routine problems. You can give the feedback or ask any questions.
