What are the creams or lotion to remove hair in underarms which do not harm skin, or Is there any other solution for it.

MBBS, MD - MD- Skin & VD
Dermatologist, Ahmedabad
Hello, the ones that are available in the market are ones. You may shave after foaming the area with soap and using warm water, it will irritate your skin less. Waxing is the best method for temporary hair removal and for clean underarms as it takes the hair off the root. If you want permanent relief, go for an underarm laser hair removal.

Am suffering from genital vitiligo, one small spot on leg and one small spot one right hand finger. From last one year am under steroids treatment, 2 tablets a week. Since I was very much worried about the same. I started ayurvedic treatment also for the same. From 5 months am also taking ayurvedic treatment along with steroids. The ayurvedic treatment consists of 3 medicines - immunity increase capsule, anti vitiligo capsule and pigmentation capsule. Since then there is no pigmentation on genital area. For leg and finger it was almost gone before starting ayurvedic treatment. Further have reduced my steroids power from 16 mg to 8 mg twice a week from past many months. Also am following all the diet restrictions. My question 1. Is it ok if I take both the medicines simultaneously steroids and ayurvedic, till date have not suffered from any side effects. 2. Is ayurvedic medicine effective if taken along with steroids. 3. If my doctor stops steroids will there be any further increase as at present there is no increase. Also have completed ayurvedic treatment for 5 months, will this help in further increase. 4. What should be further course of action. Please guide. As I am also not comfortable of taking two different medicines simultaneously, but had no option. Sincere request to please help in this regard.

Whenever I masturbate, pimples come on my face on next day. How can it be prevented. Please help.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
No connection between the pimples and masturbation. Masturbation is not really bad; it is the addiction to it that is bad. Not even the number of years is a problem but the frequency and compulsiveness to do it is to be considered for its ill-effects. At your age you may feel it difficult and it can become addictive if you have alone time, if you obsess about it, and if you are not into relationships. The problem with addiction to this is that you may go on to prefer masturbation to heterosexual contact, even when you are married. That obviously would be an insult to your wife and will lead to a lot of conflict. Heterosexual contact is very wholesome and the physiology is made exactly for penile and vaginal contact. You will instead enjoy a poor replica of this and not know or care for the difference. The second thing that can happen with addiction is that it will become compulsive and will have no boundaries or limits, since it can be done all by yourself, whenever, wherever, and however too. The big problem a lot of children get into is the guilt around this. A useful way to discharge the energy is to get into contact games, or exercises, or even hobbies to channelize it. Also you should not spend too much time alone, and you need to keep your mind occupied with other interesting things and a lot of socializing. Even if you are not interested in marriage, for whatever reasons, it will help you to get into a friendship with a girl and enjoy the relationship where there will be a lot of excitement when you fall in love. Right now your hormones may be very active and your physiological apparatus is primed and ready for sexual stimulation. But because of your age and even otherwise it is important to develop good control and not feed into your impulses. Keeping yourself occupied and living a healthy social life are the keys to manage your sexual drives.

I used to have an itching problem over my thighs, But it has been resolved by proper medication by a dermatologist, But the spots over them has remained same ,when I have asked about that to dermatologist he has told me that because of over itching the fiber has formed under the skin and he told that there is nothing to do about that, the skin has became too sensitive over that area. Is there any solution for my problem.

To remove itching naturally: With all its moisturizing action, aloe vera is one of the most effective skin soothing agents. When you rub the gel over an itchy spot, it helps reduce the skin irritation in that area and provides quick relief from itching. Just break a leaf from the plant, cut it lengthwise using a knife and using a spoon, scoop out the jelly-like substance inside. Apply a little of this gel to the itchy area and leave it on for a few minutes.

5 Natural Remedies For Skin Rejuvenation : A Must For Season Change
With every season change our skin demands an overhauling. Even if you cannot find time very often to take good care of your skin. Adopting the following measures every once in a while will ensure supple skin and a brighter complexion.

Adopt these 5 all-natural remedies to revitalize your complexion

1. Oatmeal/cucumber mask
Natural face masks can do wonders for your skin as the essential vitamins and minerals can be directly absorbed instead of absorption from food you eat. Using an oatmeal or cucumber mask every week or twice a week will give immediate relief to your skin and will provide it with a rejuvenating glow.

2. Natural soaps and body wash
Soap is an alkaline product and the human skin is acidic in nature. As a result, prolonged use of conventional soaps can result in dry, stiff and rough skin. Take time out and look for products which are majorly constituted of natural ingredients and are thus gentle on the skin, maintaining its moisture and natural sheen.

3. Vitamin-c face pack
Vitamin-c stimulates the production of collagen in the body which is responsible for the elasticity and glow of your skin. Oral vitamin-c supplements are not effective for skin health and thus it should directly be applied on the skin. Ingredients such as rosewater or rose petals are good sources of vitamin-c and can be easily used to make an all-natural paste for your skin.

4. Sunscreen consisting of natural ingredients
A number of sunscreens are available in the market which consist of natural ingredients and have minimal chemical contamination. Choose the right product based on your skin tone and skin type.

5. Natural moisturizers
Keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized on a regular basis is the best way to ensure that it remains youthful and healthy. Avoid products containing harmful additives and use natural products such as yogurt, tomato paste etc. Also, while picking a moisturizer, make sure that it consists majorly of natural ingredients.

I have got many black pimple marks on my back and I have tried many remedies to reduce it. My father too has the same type of marks on his back. So is it a hereditary thing or some other type of problem. Please suggest me how do I reduce them up.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, pimples/ acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which develops due to blocking of the hair follicles in skin. These blockages occur due to 4 abnormal processes: 1) excess sebum production due to androgens 2) excessive deposition of the protein keratin leading to comedone formation 3) infection of propionibacterium acnes (p. Acnes) bacteria on the hair follicles 4) local release of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the skin. In order to stop the formation of pimples the aforesaid four causes should be terminated. Now the bitter truth is neither can you stop the overproduction of androgen or keratin protein nor can you stop the release of pro-inflammatory chemicals because all these processes takes place internally in your skin. However you can stop the accumulation of p. Acnes bacteria on your skin by preventing your skin from getting oily. Always keep a handkerchief with you whenever you go outside. You should wipe off the slightest amount of sweat from your face as soon as you perspire on entering your room from outside wash your face with an oil-free, non-moisturizing face wash. Take a low carbohydrate diet. Do some exercise daily. Drink a lots of water to avoid constipation. Avoid pricking the pimples or popping the sebum as it may lead to black pigmentation & permanent scar formation. You can also take homoeopathic calcarea phos 200, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach also you can apply homoeopathic mother tincture berberis aquifolium q on the dark spots on your skin which are produced after the resolution of the pimples. Kindly note that this medication may not be sufficient enough to take care of your problem. These medicines are based on the symptoms of your diseased condition & these medicines need to be complemented by further deep-acting remedies in order to permanently eliminate the underlying cause of the disease. So I would suggest you to consult me privately via lybrate as it is very necessary to diagnose the proper underlying cause of your problem if you are wishing for a permanent relief from your problems. A permanent annihilation of the underlying cause of the disease will not only provide you relief from your troubles but it will also cease any chance of further relapse of that particular disease condition.
