A good way to diffuse general body pains: 1.take a long hot bath in water in which a few cups of Epsom salts have been added. 2.If you suspect your body and pains are due to stress-get plenty of sleep and try to reduce or eliminate the cause of your stress. 3.Meditation, deep breathing and yoga.

Hey. I had a pettelar dislocation on 21st sep 2016 and my mri was done on 11 oct 2016 nd it said that I had a partial LCL ligament tear and meniscus grade 1 tear and moderate knee joint effusion. I am able to bend my leg but not completely .i am able to walk with a knee supporter but I am unable to walk properly. I walk like old aged people .i am doing cycling to restore my quadriceps strength. Can you tell me is my walking prblm is due to weak quadriceps or sumthn else .nd can you please tell my how much n for how long should I cycle in a day .and please suggest some more exercises if required. thanks so much.

Hello Physiotherapy is the best treatment for this condition. I can help you by providing correct ergonomic and physio-therapeutic tips. Till then you can follow these advises:- 1. Take calcium supplements and sun bath daily to prevent further damage to your joints. 2. Avoid heavy lifting. 3. Perform some gentle exercises and stretching of your all joints. 4. I had an oblique stable fracture in my 5th metacarpal shaft and it has been a month that I have put on the cast. Before putting on the cast I had a soft plaster done for a week, probably to reduce the swelling. Now my xray on 23rd January says callus formation seen but soft tissue swelling remains. I wanted to ask if it is OK to remove the plaster now or should I keep it for some more time.

Hello lybrate user as a ortho-physio specialist I would like to suggest you must complete the time period for pop cast as advised by your ortho-surgeon. A doctor always try to give his best suggestion or advice according to condition of affected part or joint. Neck is always after sleeping some sort of muscle problem. It take 1-2 hours to normal. What should we do? It generally occur in winter season.

If it's restricted to neck only then may be due to some risky habit like the pillow/bed cushion, type of sofa used while watching tv for long duration, height of tv from seating level. If any of these factors are there try to avoid these it will be solved. Better use a matte over hard floor for sleeping during night, at least for a month.

Hi, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back and neck pains. If you have localized back & neck pain with no other symptoms like radiating upper limb pain or leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc and with no other associated constitutional symptoms like evening rise in temperature, loss of weight, excessive sweating at night etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back and neck while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and neck region and few blood tests for evaluation. Dear Lybrate user: This could be a postural problem related to the body, Take more of liquids and avoid sour/citrus fruits and foods. Do light neck exercise and don't take pillow under head. Revert back for any assistance.

This is only due to excessive sitting. Massage calf muscles daily with coconut oil, followed by hot fomentation. Don't sit for long periods, walk after some time. While sitting also move your toes. It will keep the blood circulating.

I met with an accident around 4 - 5 years ago. It got hit on my knee. That time I was feeling like my bone has become weaker. I have shown to doctor and they have taken X-Ray and said it is normal. But still I am not able to run fast. What to do.

Shoulder Advice... Hot Fomentation. Gentle Shoulder Stretching. Core Strengthening Exercises. Gentle Neck Exercises. Avoid sleeping on affected side.
