How To Promote Weight Loss With Ayurveda?

The incidence of obesity is on the rise in the last few decades. This is due to change in lifestyles and dietary patterns. While some want to lose weight from the entire body, others want to lose weight in their hips, arms, thighs, etc. The demand is both for cosmetic and health perspectives.

Another worrying aspect is the age at which obesity onsets. Childhood obesity is the new fear, gripping teenagers and even younger age groups. While most weight loss measures include starving oneself to achieve the desired weight, Ayurveda believes strongly that a holistic approach is what will work for weight loss.

Given that is it centuries old and is safer, it has assumed greater significance. The belief is that health happens when there is a balance between the three doshas – Vata, Kapha, and Pitta. The imbalance between these leads to diseases, including weight loss. Weight loss should be targeted in a multipronged approach to achieve holistic results.

Lifestyle changes:

  1. Quit smoking. There are multiple benefits to this, and promoting weight loss is just one of it.
  2. Quit or consume alcohol only in moderation. The issue is not with alcohol per se, but with the accompanying foods, which all lead to weight gain.
  3. Develop and adhere to regular sleep routine of at least 7 to 8 hours
  4. Indulge in yoga asanas like Ardha Chandraasana which are very useful for weight loss. Any yoga asana is aimed at improving blood circulation and metabolism and therefore promotes weight loss
  5. Meditate, which helps in improving circulation and breathing and helps you realize and moderate eating habits

Dietary changes:

  1. Dinner should never be the largest meal of the day.
  2. Eat a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and dairy products to ensure you get the essential minerals and vitamins
  3. Reduce the amount of refined and processed foods, so that salt, sugar are consumed in moderation
  4. Reduce food items like rice, potato, salt, sugar, caffeine, processed foods, and refined foods.
  5. Try herbs which are beneficial for weight loss including black pepper, ginger, wild gooseberries, liquorice
  6. Drink sufficient water to flush out the toxins
  7. Start the day with a glass of lukewarm water to which is added black pepper, honey, and lemon juice
  8. A combination of coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and fennel seeds can be boiled in water, strained and used as an excellent fat burner.
  9. Honey and cinnamon powder is also useful in burning fat.

Massage:

There are special massages aimed at promoting weight loss like Udwarthanam and Abhyangam. They promote weight loss by breaking up the fatty deposits and reducing further fat accumulation. They also improve blood and lymphatic circulation and remove wastes.

When there is excessive acid build-up in your body, you experience a burning sensation in your chest. This condition is called acidity.  

You feel a burning sensation in your chest, your mouth tastes sour and your throat may feel sore during bouts of acidity.  An antacid can give you quick relief, but sometimes, you might feel like it isn’t working very well for you. Ayurveda may help you in this case.

Ayurveda is safe, and it provides a natural way to heal acidity.

Here are some Ayurvedic remedies for acidity:

1. Bananas: The potassium in bananas is an excellent antidote to acidity. Eating a ripe banana can provide you relief from the discomforting symptoms of acidity.

2. Milk: The calcium in milk bars acid build-up and absorbs the extra acid produced. For best results, drink cold milk to ease your discomfort.

3. Mint leaves: Mint reduces acid production and cools the burning sensation in your stomach. Chop and boil some mint leaves; then drink the cooled solution for relief.

4. Tulsi: Tulsi boosts mucus production in the stomach and has antiulcer properties. To ease your discomfort, chew on 5-6 tulsi leaves.

5. Cardamom: Elaichi, or cardamom, is a multi-purpose remedy. It stimulates digestion, reduces stomach spasms, soothes the stomach lining and prevents excessive acid production. Just crush two pods of elaichi in boiling water and drink it for quick results.

6.  Cloves: Cloves boost saliva production, which helps in digestion and reducing the symptoms of acidity. For relieving acidity, just bite a piece of clove and keep it in your mouth. The oils released from the clove will reduce acidity within no time.

7. Aniseed: Aniseed cools the stomach lining, which reduces the burning sensation. Simply chewing a few aniseeds or saunf seeds, can bring about instant relief.

8. Cumin: Cumin stimulates saliva production, which aids in improving digestion and metabolism. You can eat cumin seeds, or boil them in water and then drink the solution for relief.

9. Ginger: Ginger improves digestion and helps absorb and assimilate essential nutrients better. It also protects your stomach from ulcers by boosting mucus secretion, which reduces the damage to the stomach lining caused by acid.

10. Amla: Also called the Indian gooseberry, amla has high amounts of vitamin C in it, which helps in healing the agitated lining of the stomach and oesophagus. You can consume one teaspoon of gooseberry powder to prevent acidity.

Slightly Curved penis is normal. Start Using Milk with Zayfal. Use massage with oil for strengthening.

Yoga is a spiritual practice combined with both mental and physical disciplines which for the first time emerged on Indian soil and later split into various schools but the actual fragrance of yoga remained same throughout the time. Nowadays, with increasing studies and researchers on various pre-Vedic traditions put an entirely new light on the practice of Yoga. While until now it has mainly been considered as a spiritual practice, a new study from Indianapolis University claims that yoga is a kind of practice which is not only limited to psychological phenomena rather the practice of yoga enables one to withstand the effects of stroke.

  1. After You Survived Of A Stroke: In most of the cases, strokes finally lead to prolonged disabilities. It is due to the fact that a stroke takes place when a part of a brain fails to get a steady supply of Blood rich in Oxygen. Apart from this blockage in a vessel may hamper the blood supply in the brain. Similarly, the after effect of a stroke entirely depends on which part of the brain is affected. So a stroke may cause dysfunction of normal speech or steady movement of arms and legs. It is why after a stroke one has taken recourse to rehabilitation with the aim of resolving life-long disabilities. The rehabilitation process includes certain exercises basically opting for movements and physiotherapy. Sometimes the effort of therapists bears fruit and sometimes all goes in vain
  2. Yoga As A Healing Power: The new research from Indianapolis has voiced in favour of adding yoga to stroke rehabilitation because it consists of poses, breathing and meditation. In this study, forty-seven male stroke survivours were divided into two groups and between these two groups, one attended yoga session for eight weeks. After eight weeks it has been seen that those who attended yoga session has successfully completed the rehabilitation session in a comparatively shorter period.
  3. Practice Of Yoga Increases Your Chance To Recover Soon: According to the researchers, the added advantage of yoga is that besides improving balance it improves the quality of life and reduce the fear of falling. If you or any of your family members has survived of a stroke, yoga is not the first step you would be advised to take recourse to rather the researchers say that at first begin the rehabilitation programme but add the practice of yoga with it. But before you add yoga to your checklist, you should consult it with your doctor whether the yoga would suit or not.
  4. Yoga Develops A Style Of Life: In conclusion, it can be said that recovering from a stroke is actually to prevent the second attack. So you need to ensure a proper lifestyle without those addictions like smoking and drinking which are harmful to you. Afterall yoga develops an upliftment in thinking which would further help you to maintain a healthy life.
