You can find the diet regimen from my previously posted threads. But for your convenience, I am re-posting it. These are the general guidelines. For customized diet plan and treatment you can approach a good doctor. 1. Eat a healthy breakfast every morning. Eating breakfast revs up your metabolism. If you skip breakfast you're likely to eat more calories by binging later in the day. Cooked oatmeal, whole grain cereals, whole grain breads, eggs and tofu with a salad are all healthy choices. 2. Stop counting calories and eat foods that nourish your body. A meal of fat-free, sugar-free, refined processed foods is also nutrient-free. Plus, it won't satisfy you for long compared to a meal of nutrient-dense whole foods like vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, and healthy fat. As you begin eating more nutritious foods and get a little more physical activity (if you aren't physically active now), your body will come to its natural healthy weight. 3. Always have some veggies and fruit washed and cut in your fridge. This way they're easy to grab when you're hungry and you can throw them in your bag when you're on the go. 4. Replace diet soda with unsweetened beverages. Diet drinks keep your sweet tooth craving sweets. Plus, they make you feel virtuous. Many people who drink diet drinks actually reward themselves with extra calories through the day. Instead, drink iced teas or plain or carbonated water with a slice of lemon or lime. 5. Use the" plate method" to make a healthy meal. Fill half your plate with low or non-starchy veggies like broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, string beans, mushrooms, peppers, or leafy greens and some fruit. Fill one quarter, with a whole grain like brown rice, barley or a starchy vegetable like corn or potatoes, or beans. Fill the last quarter with protein like broiled, sauteed, roasted, or baked (not fried) fish, chicken or turkey without the skin, lean cuts of meat, tofu or eggs. 6. Cut down on carbs. Refined carbohydrates (cake, candy, cookies, muffins, cupcakes, soda, fruit juice, syrups, chips, and most supermarket breads) you don't burn turn into fat. Even foods like fruit yogurt and many breakfast cereals have lots of added sugar. Replace fruity yogurts with plain yogurt, choose high-fiber, lower carb cereal and add small amounts of healthy fat to your meals with avocado slices, unsalted nuts, seeds and olive oil. 7. Shrink your lunch and dinner plates. If you and your family eat off a plate larger than ten inches, replace them with plates that are nine or ten inches in diameter. We tend to eat what's in front of us. Using smaller plates there's less food in front of you to eat. 8. When eating out ask your server to double the green veggies in place of the potato or rice. I always do this and benefit from more nutrition and less carbs. Also, share food at the table. 9. Keep tempting foods out of the house. Stock your fridge and pantry with healthy foods and you're creating an environment that will help make you successful. Enjoy treats occasionally when you're out. 10. Walk for at least 40-45 minutes. You can start with 10-15 minutes and gradually increase to reach your target.

A nine month old is ready to eat from the family pot provided that the food is non spicy and wholesome. Offer the baby whatever is cooked in the house. Regular foods like dal, rice, khichri, mashed roti, boiled egg etc can be started. You can also give suji kheer, halwa, soups (Veg and non Veg) and chappatis soaked and mashed in dal,soup or dahi. A small amount of extra butter or ghee may be added to in the food. This adds to caloric value and helps the child gain weight. Fruits such as banana/mango can be given. Breast feeding should be continued.
7-8 kg at 9 months is good weight at this age. It is not necessary to add powdered badam etc. The tiny particles of badam can cause problems. Wait till the child at least one year old.

Hi Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a. Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. b. Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. c. If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. d. Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. e. Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. f. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. g. You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow this regimen and you will soon start seeing the results.

I am of 22 years and 5'2" tall with 55 KGS weight. I look good but I have belly fat. If I eat less food, I feel weak and if I eat regularly as always, my belly fat is shown. Take high fiber low fat diet. Drink lot of water everyday. Take small and frequent meals at regular intervals of 2-3 hrs. Avoid outside food completely. Ask me directly for customized diet plan for you.

Mr. Lybrate-user as you asked about your problems related to dark circles below your eyes is due to irregular routines of getting all dietary measures and daily behaviours as well as exercise and night awakening. And metabolic status as well as excessive indulgence in sex or masturbation. I would like to advise you to follow regular daily routines of getting all dietary measures and daily behaviours as well as morning walk every day. Make sure about your bowel should be cleared every day. Stop masturbating if any or excessive sexual indulgence if you are married. Use light diets and soups of carrots and beetroot with ginger and haldi including moong daal soups fried with cumin seeds and ghee and garlic. Diet For Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD)

A rising number of teenage girls in the country are getting affected with Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease or PCOD. Though an advanced menarche has become very rampant these days, there are many young women who are suffering from a delay in menarche which in turn is leading to PCOD as opined by gynaecologists. Obesity and sedentary lifestyle among young people have caused a rapid doubling of PCOD cases in the past five to eight years.

Occurrence and Symptoms:

Gynaecologists report that they get at least 15 fresh instances of PCOD cases, and a considerable number of teenagers aged 16-17 are not getting their menarche. Such patients are recommended to take a strictly balanced diet which will help them to lose weight. Initially, their mothers think that they would experience their menarche in proper time, but some girls are diagnosed with PCOD when taken to a family gynaecologist. Even worse, they could never imagine that their obesity can pave the way for such a grave health issue. PCOD can cause numerous other problems like delayed and irregular menses, rapid weight gain and tremendous difficulty in losing weight, developing acne and blocked skin pores.

Furthermore, it leads to thinning of hair and excessive growth of hair on chest, back and face. Infertility, continual miscarriagehigh blood pressure and high blood sugar are also common with PCOD.

Help yourself with the right diet:

There is no proven evidence regarding the cause of PCOD though gynaecologists are of the opinion that some females possess a predisposition to this disease, and it may run hereditarily in the family. You can alleviate your PCOD symptoms to a considerable extent by regulating your diet properly.

Have loads of fruits and green leafy vegetables and try to abstain from dairy products as many experts believe that dairy products are a direct cause of an increase in insulin levels, which can aggravate skin troubles along with other PCOD symptoms. Avoiding red meat and eating lean meat instead will help the condition and reduce the chances of infertility. It is always recommended to avoid hydrogenated and saturated fats, which are normally found in animal and dairy-based food. Try to put a stop to cheese, cottage cheese, clarified butter, pork, lamb, beef, etc. and certain baked products like cookies, cakes and fudges as they will trigger a rise in your blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

The following dietary tips can be helpful with the condition:

  • High levels of the insulin hormone causes PCOS symptoms like high blood sugar, increased hair growth, weight gain etc. So, refined foods rich in fat and carbohydrates should be consumed in small amounts.
  • Whole foods in their natural, uncooked form should be consumed fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans etc. These are low glycemic foods that reduce the glucose circulation by insulin.
  • Intake of salt should be very limited. You should not consume more than 3 grams a day.
  • Green vegetables have antioxidants. These are good for women with PCOS because they have a high amount of oxidative stress.
  • Your daily diet should contain at least 30 grams of fiber to improve the digestion process and remove toxins.
  • Milk and dairy products are best avoided because milk helps to increase the level of testosterone (male hormone) in the body.
  • Soy products should also be avoided, especially if you are trying to conceive, because they interfere with the ovulation cycle.
  • Processed fat is harmful but essential fatty acids found in avocado, fish, olive oil and nuts are important for the body.
  • High levels of male hormones also cause high cholesterol. So foods which have high saturated fats like butter, cream, coconut oil and fatty meat should not be included in the regular diet of women with PCOS.
  • Protein-rich foods like lean meat, fish, legumes, whole grains are beneficial as protein can stabilize blood sugar. These foods also keep you feeling full and prevent over-eating.

PCOD is such a condition which you can never afford to overlook. If you had been facing any of the common symptoms, then it is probably time to pay a visit to a responsive gynaecologist. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Hello, * take plenty of water to keep your scalp moist, as greasy, dry scalp, disallows to grow hairs. * go for meditation for 30 mnts, to transport oxygenated blood to hair follicles to check falling hairs. * take, easily digestible diet, avoiding junk food. I am a known diabetic since 2000. Lately I have problems of hypoglycemia (low sugar!) especially when on empty stomach. I am on medication. (Zoryl 4 one per day and Melmet SR 1000 twice a day) Can you suggest a remedy.

At the time of hypoglycemic symptoms measure your sugar levels by a glucometer and we can decrease the dosages and also get your blood checked for HbA1c

Hi, Diabetes is a disease which can be controlled with medication, diet and exercise and cannot be cured. Therefore, you cannot stop the medication when your blood sugar levels come back to normalcy. Raised Blood sugar level in the body is controlled by the medications. If you stop the medicines, again the blood sugar level rises. Hence a maintainence dose of the medicine has to be taken for life long.

According to ayurveda, probable causative factors are mainly due to vitiated vaat & pitt history of long time acidity or gastric trouble history of major illness any medicine constipation sour salty spicey food fear, anger & stress addiction etc find your factors, stop them. Take balance diet withdrawal of stress anger take ajvayan & jeera 1 tsp after meal. Take milk+ sugar+ pipprimool+ jayphal at night time. Not at all but you could be addicted to it then you will have a problem which is described below: Masturbation is not really bad; it is the addiction to it that is bad. Not even the number of years is a problem but the frequency and compulsiveness to do it is to be considered for its ill-effects. At your age you may feel it difficult and it can become addictive if you have alone time, if you obsess about it, and if you are not into relationships. The problem with addiction to this is that you may go on to prefer masturbation to heterosexual contact, even when you are married. That obviously would be an insult to your wife and will lead to a lot of conflict. Heterosexual contact is very wholesome and the physiology is made exactly for penile and vaginal contact. You will instead enjoy a poor replica of this and not know or care for the difference. The second thing that can happen with addiction is that it will become compulsive and will have no boundaries or limits, since it can be done all by yourself, whenever, wherever, and however too. The big problem a lot of children get into is the guilt around this. A useful way to discharge the energy is to get into contact games, or exercises, or even hobbies to channelize it. Also you should not spend too much time alone, and you need to keep your mind occupied with other interesting things and a lot of socializing. Even if you are not interested in marriage, for whatever reasons, it will help you to get into a friendship with a girl and enjoy the relationship where there will be a lot of excitement when you fall in love. Right now your hormones may be very active and your physiological apparatus is primed and ready for sexual stimulation. But because of your age and even otherwise it is important to develop good control and not feed into your impulses. Keeping yourself occupied and living a healthy social life are the keys to manage your sexual drives.

If you have lost weight upto 5 kg with in last 3 months then its very significant. One can think of diseases like hyperthyroidism or tuberculosis or severe stress. First 2 possibilities can be ruled out by lab tests. And don't take any stress. Just concentrate on your food habits. Take more dal rice and vegetables in stead of more chapattis. Take salads fruits nuts and curds in more amount. Take boiled chana and other legume daily. Drink water properly. Drink milk shake that will give you strength and increase weight.

Use antidandruff shampoo. Eat healthy nutritious food containing proteins vitamins and minerals Exercise regularly Take supplements containing aminoacids vitamins and minerals. Pl get an evaluation done. Looks like you may need internal medications as well.
