My cousin is really bothered about his physique. He is 23 but looks like 16-17 years old boy. He was excellent during his school academically but he was hardly seen active in physical activity so I don't know what was the problem but his height is too not very well 5'5 and he tried his best but he is not looking mature guy I mean like grown-up guy by physique and he so often feel sick. He always use to have pils for something. Immunity is not strong. Consistently comparing himself with others led him to depression mode (i say depression cause he rarely laugh). Suggest something for him may be I can help him.

Hello, boys gain height upto the age of 21 years and it is more dependent upon physical activity, diet and genetics. Weight gain is the result of well balanced diet, physical activity for 30-40 mins 3-4 days/week preferably weight training and rest of 8-10 hours. All foods included in your diet should be power packed i. E giving you many nutrients and calories, also it should be high on proteins so as to help you in gaining muscle mass for better health and immunity. Examples-banana/mango/chickoo milkshakes with honey and nuts, paneer stuffed sandwiches/parathas, chikkis of peanuts/chana to be stocked with you as this can be conveniently had anywhere, dryfruits and mixed nuts. Overeating would harm more than help as it would lead to burning excess calories to use the food eaten leading to wastage of energy and in the bargain you might lose weight.

My mother is 45 year old. Her overall body is well maintained but she has a large tummy. She does a lot of cardiac and yogic exercise but often complains about not sweating and her body getting heated up. According to a local doctor, this problem might arise due to insufficient amount of water intake but she takes around 2 to 3 litres of water everyday. Not satisfied with the doctor here, I knocked your door. What could be the possible reason for this.

I am taking depression mdcns and my weight is gaining continuously what should I do.
Dear lybrate user depression is related with higher functions so any suppressive or mere palliative treatment at such level is not healthy and may lead to secondary action, you need a constitutional treatment for permanent cure since dynamic medicines are only capable of curing disease at such level.

If you want to become strong and healthy then follow natural healthy habits. Go for a routine checkup with a doctor to rule out any major illness. Certain tests should be done to know the status of your health (For example - CBC, ESR, blood sugar, thyroid, renal and liver profile tests along with urine routine). Regarding healthy habits - start eating homemade food with lots of fruits and vegetables and avoid junk food and processed food along with cold drinks. Avoid all bad habits. Exercise everyday and add yoga for fine-tuning your metabolism and increasing your stamina.

6 Main Reasons Skin Hyperpigmentation is Very Common in India

6 Main Reasons Skin Hyperpigmentation is Very Common in India

6 Main Causes of Skin Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a skin condition characterised by dark patches, occurring mainly due to excessive melanin (a skin pigment) production. This form of skin condition is not specific to any particular age group or category of people, but it is more commonly observed among people of Mediterranean, Asian, Latin, or African origin. Also, any part of your body including hands, face and neck can be affected by this condition.

Here are some of the most common factors that can cause skin hyperpigmentation.

1. Sun exposure

If your skin is exposed to sunlight for a long period of time, it can result in hyperpigmentation. It happens due to the inflammation of the skin caused by the action of UV rays present in sunlight. This skin inflammation plays a significant role in activating melanocytes (skin cells that generate melanin), giving you dark patches of skin.

2. Hormonal changes

Triggered by the consumption of a pill or pregnancy, hormonal changes in your body are also responsible for stimulating growth of melanin.  This disturbance in the chemical balance of your body causes hyperpigmentation in the form of ‘melasma’ (a common skin condition characterised by grey-brown patches on skin surface).

3. Specific drugs

Sometimes hyperpigmentation is drug-induced and happens due to the effect of certain medications like antibiotics, anti-seizure drugs, Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and hormone treatments. This mainly happens due to the reaction of these drugs with melanin resulting in the formation of a drug-pigment complex that leaves dark patches on the skin.

4. Heredity

In some cases, you can get hyperpigmentation if you have a prevailing family history of the disease. This skin condition is sometimes carried by the genes onto the next generation.

5. Acne

It often happens that acne leaves back scars in the form of dark spots after healing. These dark spots are most commonly termed as Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH).  They occur as your skin produces excessive melanin in response to the skin infection.

6. Excessive use of chemical products

Exposing your skin to harsh chemicals, present mostly in chemical products like hair removing creams, wax etc. can result in skin inflammation resulting in Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

The fact is there are no shortcuts! However, there are some really efficient ways (if followed religiously) that can result in quick riddance from fat and related woes. Lets see how to get around obesity in these simple ways: 1. Reduce Salt Intake: More salt in body means more sodium which gives a puffy look to your body. So, its advised to eat less salt and more potassium as it will reduce the amount of water in the body resulting in reduced weight. 2. Never Skip Exercise: Exercise daily because this is one sure-shot way of reducing weight because it burns direct fat. Especially cardio exercises can help in reducing weight but you have to be regular in that. 3. Manage Your Diet Well: Diet management is the first and foremost thing that can help you deal with the problem of obesity. It is not easy and everyones cup of tea to have a control on diet but half the battle is won, if you can deal with this dietary change. Your diet should be low in calories, with less carbohydrates and less fats. 4. Have Mint Leaves: Taking mint leaves in warm water half an hour after taking meals will prove to be beneficial in losing weight as it helps in proper digestion and boosting metabolism. 5. Drink Green Tea: Green tea, an antioxidant by nature can go a long way in helping you reduce weight. So, prefer taking green tea, if not more once or twice a day. 6. Switch To Lukewarm Water: Drinking lukewarm water every time you are thirsty will reduce fat deposits in your body, so you must go for it. 7. Make Homemade Food: Prefer eating homemade food and avoid fatty and fast food. Consult me privately.
