Lybrate-user ji pain is not uncommon during rct. I am sure after the 2nd appointment it will subside totally. In the mean time you can rinse with warm saline water and take a potent analgesic after consulting your dentist.

Hello Dr. i'm mushir abdullah and I wanna ask you that how I clean our teeth when teeth are in yellow colour.
Hello, yellow teeth could be because of deposits on your teeth. Get your scaling and polishing done from a dentist. Brush twice daily, floss regularly and rinse after every meal.

Visit a dentist to determine the exact cause of your mouth smell. It may be diet, acidity or food getting stuck between your gums and teeth. Treatment will be accordingly.

Hi, for last 3 days I am having creamy taste in my mouth and dryness in the night.
Hello lybrate-user, Consult a dentist and get cleaning and polishing done. Along with it, you also need to maintain it at home by brushing twice a day, flossing and cleaning your tongue. This will prevent any bad smell coming from the mouth. Drink lots and lots of fluids to prevent dryness of mouth. Thanks.

Bad breath is due to accumulation of plaque on teeth, decay teeth, dry mouth, smoking, tobacco chewing, consumption of caffeinated or aerated beverages, oilly n spicy food, sore throat, bad digestion. Go for scaling and polishing of teeth. Use mouthwash twice daily after brushing. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Increase your water intake.

Hello doctor I am 38 year old man I have teeth cavity problem last one year what should I do please tell me doctor.

Hello doctor I am 38 year old man I have teeth cavity problem last one year what should I do please tell me doctor.
Hi lybrate-user. Cavities should be treated in the initial stage only to prevent further damage to the tooth. But though its already a year you hav a cavity, it might hav gone lillte deeper. You first need a xray to know the extent of damage and then go for filling procedure, either normal or root canal. Or if completely destroyed and cannot be saved then extraction. Thank you.

I am facing some problem with my mouth smell can you suggest to relief from smell in mouth and teeth.
Hello lybrate-user, in addition to deposits in teeth, also note that systemic conditions like acidity can also lead to bad smell or halitosis. Pls note that if you have acidity or have symptoms such as belching, heartburn, frequent burps and burning sensation after a heavy meal indicates gastric issues. You many need to address that as well in case your problem is not resolved with scaling alone. Take care.

How to Prevent Bleeding of Gums

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
How to Prevent Bleeding of Gums

Though it may be very common, spitting out blood while brushing, however little, is not normal. Bleeding gums can be an early sign of gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontal disease and hence should never be ignored. It can also be a symptom of scurvy. Plaque, when accumulated over time can lead to the inflammation of gums. Vigorous brushing or flossing over these inflamed gums can make them bleed.

Other causes for bleeding gums can include:

  1. Vitamin deficiency
  2. Blood thinners
  3. Mouth sores
  4. Bleeding disorders
  5. Hormonal changes
  6. And, health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and leukemia

Regular dental checkups are essential to maintain healthy gums. A tooth clean up will rid your mouth of plaque and tartar that cause gum infections. Apart from that, here are a few things you can do at home.

  1. Eat a healthy diet: Avoiding excessive sugar can help keep your gums and teeth healthier. Replace this sugar with a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. This gives your gums the necessary nutrients. Chewing raw vegetables can also improve blood circulation in your gums and can help treat bleeding gums. Boosting your intake of vitamin A, C, calcium and magnesium can also keep your gums healthy.
  2. Dental routine: Brushing and flossing regularly are crucial to good dental health. This removes harmful bacteria that trigger dental infections. Make it a habit to brush and floss at least twice a day. The way you brush also makes a difference. Brush both sides of your teeth in an upwards and downwards movement instead of going from side to side. Also pay attention to the condition of your toothbrush. Change your toothbrush every six months and pick a soft or medium bristled toothbrush instead of firm bristled toothbrushes. Hard brushes can damage the soft tissues inside your mouth. Also, make it a habit to rinse your mouth with mouthwash after every meal. Alternatively, you could use a weak saline solution or hydrogen peroxide.
  3. Manage stress: Even your gums are affected by stress. Stress increases inflammation that causes bleeding and reduces the immune system's capability to fight infections. Studies have also shown a direct relationship between stress and the build up of plaque. Stress can also make it harder for you to maintain a healthy lifestyle and good dental habits.
  4. Stop sharing: Bleeding gums is a communicable infection. To protect yourself from bleeding gums, do not share things like glasses, cutlery etc. sharing toothbrushes should always be considered as a taboo.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning and artificial enamel filling or root canal treatment. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. 7 Ways Tobacco Affects Your Dental Health!

7 Ways Tobacco Affects Your Dental Health!

Tobacco has many ill effects on the health of an individual. Dental health is equally affected with use of tobacco. From dark stains to poor gum health to increased incidence of decay to the more severe effects like oral cancer, tobacco has a very detrimental effect on your dental health. Read on know more about how harmful tobacco can be on the dental system.

  1. Brown teeth and tongue: One of the tell-tale signs of a smoker are the brown teeth and stained tongue and lips. A dentist need not even be told that the person smokes, it just shows!! What is interesting is that these stains on the teeth do not easily go away with a scaling (Cleaning of teeth), they just continue to form as long as tobacco is being put into the system.
  2. Gum disease: The oral health of a smoker is definitely not at its best. With the stains on the teeth, the gums are more prone for irritation and infection. This leads to grayish, unhealthy gums. The periodontal fibers are also affected, leading to bad breath, pocket formation and even tooth mobility in severe cases. The mouth is generally drier in comparison and so bacterial growth is more favored, further accelerating the process of gum disease and teeth decay.
  3. Dental caries: The increased amount of bacteria and dryness in the mouth leads to greater incidence of dental decay. Chances of cervical decay (decay around the gum line) and root decay are higher in smokers.
  4. Bad breath: Use of tobacco in itself cause bad breath which is exacerbated by dry mouth caused by useof tobacco.
  5. Impaired taste: The tongue has a constant coating too, leaving the taste buds unable to completely taste food substances. Ask any smoker a couple of questions and you would realize how they never get to enjoy and taste the food as it should be.
  6. Poor healing: Whether it is a gum disease, a tooth removal or a root canal therapy, smokers who go for dental treatment need a longer time to respond compared to nonsmokers. If smoking is continued at the same pace, then the chances of developing a dry socket with an extraction or a failed root canal therapy are quite high. There are more failures reported in success of implant in smokers as compared to non smokers.
  7. Cancer: The most dangerous and the most severe of all, cancer of the cheek, gums, lips, tongue, roof of the mouth can all happen in smokers, twice more likely in comparison with non-smokers.

Now, if all these are not good enough to kick the habit, remember this list is only for the mouth and the teeth. The whole body goes through a lot more harmful effects, and that should be a good reason to quit tobacco use in any form. If you need professional help, do not be embarrassed to seek.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
