I am working on computer for long time thats why I have always irritation and strain in my eyes. have also headache and back pain.please help

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hi. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. Hope my suggestions help you. Take care.

When I wake up, there is fogginess in my eyes. I have to wash eyes properly to read clearly. Advice pls.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Sangrur
This may be due to many factors. Firstly your lashes might be sticking together due to secretions and on cleaning those are removed n you see clearly. Second reason could be fuchs dystrophy in which vision improves not with cleaning but as the day advance vision improves.

Is it possible to improve your eyesight after 18. With foods an vegetables and eye Drops. And ayurvedic medicine. My eyesight is 8 negative and I am 19 years old please helppppp anybody, and I belongs to low middle class family.

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Hello, well healthy nutritious diet, some eye drops and some ayurvedic medicines do support eye health but it cannot remove glasses altogether especially a number like -8 d. Please try and understand that the glasses are a form of treatment for your poor eyesight, without them you will not be able to see clearly and might end up losing some eyesight permanently. If you do not want to wear glasses you can use contact lenses but with all proper precautions and hygiene. Another option is surgical correction of eyesight by lasik, but it will cost you atleast 20k- 25k. The health supplements and nutritious diet are important to keep your retina healthy so please do continue with them. Take care.

Always Always wash your hands with a mild soap and dry them with a lint-free towel before touching your lenses. Always clean, rinse, and disinfect your lenses each time you remove them. Follow your eye care professional's instructions. Always handle the same lens first to avoid confusing the right and left lenses Always keep all solution bottles closed when not in use. Always clean your lens case daily and let air dry. Replace your lens case every three months. Always use solution before expiration date marked on bottle, or discard. Always remove contacts before you go swimming. Always carry your contact lens case along with a bottle of multi-purpose solution to have a safe place to store your lenses. Always schedule regular appointments with your eye care professional as he/she recommends. Never Never allow soaps, cosmetics, or other substances to come into contact with your lenses. Never touch the tip of a lens care solution bottle to any surface, including your finger or the contact lens. Never re-use any lens care solution. Never use eye drops or solutions not intended for use with contact lenses. Never wear your contact lenses in the presence of harmful or irritating vapors or fumes. Never wear lenses for more than the prescribed time. Never swap contact lenses with anyone. Never apply hairspray after putting your contact lenses on.

What is best for eye side? I am 23 years old. My eye is very low. Can you suggest me for this.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, use cmd2 eye drops, 2 drop in each eye twice daily. Do the below exercises to strengthen your ocular muscles. Exercises for eyes: warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids.

Hello, get your eyes tested from an opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Look up and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look up to and to your left for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your left for 5 seconds. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and then reducing the power of your eyes (if the eye power is less). Take physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 4-6 months and instill euphrasia eye drops twice a day. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

My eye sight are weak I can not see far object how can I am improve my eye sight because this create so many problems to me.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Sangrur
Hello. There is no medication or food for improving eye sight or to get rid of glasses. Get your vision tested and wear glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 19 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik after age of 18 yrs.

I am suffering from low eyesight and headache I take power glasses but at now my eye is hearting and got red and sometime headache can any relation between headache and eye please say what to do.

Fue Hair Transplantation, Advanced Aesthetics, RPSLH, SHS, MBBS
Cosmetic Physician, Hyderabad
Hi, yes, there is a strong relation with eye-sight having refractive errors causing headache. The eyes during accommodation for normal vision sends signals to the brain, when there is mismatch like what happens in refractive errors then vision center in brain has to face extra load identifying and correcting the signals. Hence in situations like this will experience in the form of headache. Try to consult your eye doctor and get appropriate glasses for your refractive error accordingly. Take care.
