Hi, Since the past 15 days my resting pulse rate has been shooting up suddenly to 100 upto 118. I visited a local doctor then, who prescribed 2 sachets of ORS water and it seemed to have resolved it. And out of worry of getting into shape iv even started a new discipline of waking up at 6 and going for morning walks for 40 mins followed by a beginner's circuit workout for 20 mins. Iv been doing this for only 5 days now. Thighs were going fine but today my resting pulse rate has been fluctuation between 100 and 118 all over again. I have been maintaining my water levels as well. I don't smoke or drink. I am concerned. Please Advise.

Dear lybrate-user, there are multiple reasons for resting high hear rate which can be physiological i.e normal and pathological i.e something's wrong. Usually asymptomatic persons have due to anxiety, stress, inadequate sleep, too much amount of coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks and dehydration which are physiological reverse any of the above cause if it implies to you. Other things which need to be done if HR persistently remains high is to get BP checked. Get also thyroid hormone level checked. Hyperthyroidism can lead to high pulse rate which is pathological and requires medicines.

What is the symptoms of Blood pressure? Please I need to know so that I can check.
Blood pressure usually does not have any symptoms or signs unless it increases to very high level. But if at all it increases you might have headache, giddiness or chest discomfort. It's always better to get BP checked manually and if found more than 140/90 then to start with lifestyle modification like salt restriction diet and medicines might also be required of persistently BP remains high.

Hello Dr. I am a final year medical student and I recently got to know that I am HBsAg positive. I have never underwent any blood transfusion in past, and I am not even involved in any sexually activity with anyone. Probably I have got this via vertical transmission because even my mother is HBsAg positive. USG liver echo texture is normal, also LFT is normal. I wasn't aware about this before and I did take Hepatitis B vaccination in my 3rd year of MBBS. Now, I would like to get advice from you that whether I should get married in future life or not? I don't want that any other person should get infected because of me. I am also worried about life expectancy. I was so much goal oriented till now and wished to do residency from US and do my super-speciality in gastroenterology subject. But, now I feel so low when I got this lab report. Please help me. I need your guidelines and suggestions. Thank you so much.

Hello dear be relaxed you are absolutely fine you can pursue whatever you want in your life you can marry without any problems just ensure that your wife gets vaccinated. Also get all your family members tested and if negative get them vaccinated. Yes most likely you have got it from your mother. Your are just hepatitis B carrier and there is no active infection in your liver as your SGPT (LFT) is normal. You need to get some more blood tests done like HbeAg and HBV DNA levels. If HBV DNA is more than 20,000 then you might require a liver biopsy and if there is evidence of damage anti virals ate to be started there might be reactivation of virus when your SGPT might rise and HBV DNA levels go up. But there are very good medicines available and proper guidelines are there for treatment. Bottom line: don't worry you are and will be fine and do whatever you wish. Feel free to consult me.

Dear it seems like viral infection. It seems your dad had fever since few days the picture above you have described is usually seen in dengue fever or other viral fever. It would be advisable to get dengue IgG and IgM test done. The above possibility is most likely as sgpt which suggests inflammation in liver is there. The platelet, WBC and sgpt will all improve by themselves once fever resolves. No specific medicine is there. All patients improve .no need to worry. Supplements good food like papaya ,green leafy vegetables and low oily food as he might be having nausea and decreased appetite. You can give vitamin b12 and folate supplement. Watch for any warning signs like red spot in legs or blood from any site like in urine or stool or from gums .if anything like this report immediately to doctor nearby. Otherwise just repeat CBC after a day and if everything is. Improving just rest at home.

Well the complaints you have described can be related to either prostatic hypertrophy which is the most common age related problem in urination, but it gradually increases and is associated with urgency frequency and poor stream of urine which develop over a period of months. Blood in anus is most commonly due to haemorrhoids (piles) which can be/not painful or anal fissure which are very painful. If blood is in initial stool. Passage and like splash in pan it's hemorrhoids. While if it's associated with constipation, pain and only streak of blood comes then it's usually fissures. I recommend you to visit a surgeon nearby for examination.

Hepatitis B does not require treatment if it is in the latent stage i.e when the liver enzymes namely SGPT is normal. Also get HbEAg test ,whether us positive or not. If you are asymptomatic then no need to worry.
