Dear lybrate-user, the symptoms which you have described relate to gum disease in which there are calculus, tartar, plaque deposits on the teeth and the gums become weak and swollen. There is also bleeding from the gums and foul smell from the mouth. The teeth become loose this maybe what is commonly known as pyorrhoea. You need to consult a qualified dentist and get your teeth cleaned and the gums treated.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. You may need c. Becosules 5 cap, for five days in the morning after meals & hexigel ointment on the area of ulcer until then. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. This is a gum disease which advances with time and it comes to a stage when teeth become loose. As well. You have to get teeth cleaning done by dentist. And later he might advice you for a full mouth xray. To understand the level of the bone. And then accordingly some advance procedures may be advised to you. Usually if there is bleeding you can use a mouthwash for a month. Rinse two times daily. Or else if bleeding in gums does not subside. Kindly visit dentist.

Brushing

Brushing your teeth is the cornerstone of any good oral hygiene routine. To keep your teeth and gums healthy, always be sure to brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled brush. The size and shape of your brush should fit your mouth allowing you to reach all areas easily. Also, don’t forget to replace your toothbrush every three or four months or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won’t do a good job of cleaning your teeth. Finally, make sure to use an fluoride toothpaste. It makes no difference whether you choose a manual or powered toothbrush—just make sure to brush thoroughly twice a day, every day!

Dental Erosion - 6 Things That Can Cause It!

Dental Erosion - 6 Things That Can Cause It!

Dental erosion is the erosion of the upper surface and the enamel of your teeth. The enamel is the thin outer covering of the teeth and the cover of the crown which is the visible part of the tooth below the gums. There are no living/active cells in enamel and thus, cannot be repaired once it is damaged. Dental erosion happens when acids wear down the enamel, thus resulting in pain and subsequent decay.

A few causes could be:

  1. Consuming soft drinks which have large amounts of phosphoric and citric acids.
  2. Consumption of fruit-flavored candies or sweets
  3. Acid Reflux disease can also be one major cause
  4. Genetics or hereditary conditions
  5. Following a high sugar content diet
  6. Improper care and friction

There are a few other causes of dental erosion. The prominent ones are:

  1. Attrition: There is a natural tooth to tooth friction that happens when you grind your teeth, particularly during sleep. This phenomenon is called attrition.
  2. Abrasion: The physical wear and tear caused due to biting hard objects and chewing tobacco on a regular basis.
  3. Corrosion: The damage caused due to high acidic content foods.

Dental erosion has to be treated early and you should consult your dentist before it causes permanent damage to your teeth. If the structure of your tooth is affected, then it may require complex and surgical treatment such as fillings, root canal or dental implant. The span of treatment may vary depending upon the complexity of your condition.

Certain precautionary measures are:

  1. You should eat a healthy and a well-balanced diet
  2. You should drink more of water (about 2-3 liters each day) as compared to processed juices or cold drinks
  3. Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco
  4. Don’t drink fruit juices, rather eat the fruit itself

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. MDS - Orthodontics
Dentist,

Orthodontic treatment:
People have a lot of misconceptions regarding orthodontic / braces treatment.
1. Most commonly I have heard people say if you extract healthy teeth for orthodontic treatment eyesight is affected. Now that is not true. If that was the case then when your teeth decays your eyes should also have the effect. Your teeth are in no ways connected to your eye.
2. Braces weaken your teeth: no braces do not weaken your teeth in fact well aligned teeth are much stronger than crooked teeth because you can clean them better.
3. Braces are meant only for children: that was the early adage. With new technology now braces have become invisible and even adults can get their teeth aligned without the braces being visible outside.
4. Braces can be put only after all permanent teeth have erupted. Not only teeth can be mal aligned but in few cases the jaw bones are also mal aligned. When such is the case visit a orthodontist at a very early age so that we can alter your jaw growth. Once growth ceases you will have to undergo surgery to correct the jaw problem. Ideal age to have your kids shown to an orthodontist is 7 years.
5. Braces do all the job we don't have anything to do. Braces will do their job only if you allow them to. Follow your orthodontist instructions properly and meticulously. Do not break your braces by eating hard food substances. Keep your mouth clean.
Hope these instructions help some of you.
Good day.
