Hello doctor I am 31 year male for Delhi and my height is 5.8 and weight is 88 kg and recently I have done my checkup and I found that my uric acid level is 9.9 and in routine I am consuming home food only but in my home I eat little bit oily and tadka dal type food and I have also a over weight problem. I am also consuming some Ayurveda tablets of Himalaya for general energy like ashwagandha and Shilajit. My office job is also a setting job. So I want to know from you that my uric acid is increase due to my weight and imbalance diet or it is increased due to Ayurvedic medicine what is the reason of increase of Uric Acid. Should I not consuming the Ayurvedic medicine which is for my General Weakness and Energy.

Hello doctor I am 31 year male for Delhi and my height is 5.8 and weight is 88 kg and recently I have done my checkup...
Normal Uric acid levels are 2.4-6.0 mg/dL (female) and 3.4-7.0 mg/dL (male) Some diets that are rich in purine end up causing an increased production of uric acid. In other cases, it may be due to a completely sedentary lifestyle. Less intake of water also may be to blame in some cases as water plays an important role in washing out the excess of the uric acid. Regular usage of some medicines also cause the uric acid levels to rise. Another important factor is being overweight as obese people are much more likely to get gout as compared to those who have normal weight. It is a tragedy of the modern world that the superior advertising and marketing power of the allopathic system of medicine has eclipsed the good and genuine work of Homeopathy. This is largely because Homeopathic system of medicine cannot compete with the money power of Allopathy. Just because allopathy does not have any cure for gout, patients tend to think that there is no cure for gout at all. People are not aware of the great work that Homeopathy can do in the cure of gout. I cannot stress enough here that homeopathic medicines are pretty effective at curing the acute as well as the chronic gout You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance

What Are The Causes of Premature Ejaculation?

B.A.M.S., M.D.(A.M), EX-M.R.C.G.P., EX-M.R.S.H., EX-M.S.I.E.C.U.S, EX-M.S.S.S.S.

What Are The Causes of Premature Ejaculation?

The incidence of premature ejaculation (PE) in men is reported to be 30% and is on the rise. It is the release or ejaculation of semen sooner than he would like during a sexual encounter with his partner. It is one of the most common male sexual problems.

It is considered that a man who can't 'last' for longer than five minutes would typically fit the definition of one suffering from 'premature ejaculation'.

Premature ejaculation can be a cause of embarrassment and can lead to frustration as sex may not lead to a pleasurable experience. Even partners of men who suffer from pe can be left feeling extremely dissatisfied. This can adversely affect relationships and have impacts on the affected person's self-esteem.

What causes premature ejaculation?

Ejaculation is controlled by the central nervous system. When a man is sexually aroused or stimulated, signals are carried from the spinal cord to the brain and from there sent to the reproductive organs to enable the release of semen through the penis. The exact cause of PE is still unknown. Many causes may attribute to PE from biological (low serotonin levels) to psychological factors and other related issues.

These are discussed further:

1. Biological causes: Serotonin is a natural substance made by the nerves. An increase in serotonin levels in the brain help men prolong the time taken to ejaculate and low levels of this substance can lead to PE.

2. Psychological factors: It is believed that following psychological factors can increase PE:

  • Depression
  • Guilt
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Performance anxiety and unrealistic expectations
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationship issues

It comes as a relief that PE need not be life-long and with some help it can be treated:

How is PE treated?

Quite often PE occurs with new partners and may decrease on its own over a period of time with absolutely no treatment. A urologist or sexologist may advice on certain techniques that you and your partner could try out to delay orgasm. A doctor may suggest use of numbing creams or gels if the skin of the penis is excessively sensitive. If the issue is a psychological one, therapy or counselling is advised which if followed can effectively reduce PE and help achieve a more satisfying sexual experience and subsequently improve relationships. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

Diabetes affects all organs in the body ? Eyes, kidneys, nerves, reproductive system all are affected, In fact, from toe to hair. For diabetic control, patient and doctor should be in constant touch for regular follow up and advice. It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose ? SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For sugar control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me privately with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance... if you keep in touch.

In fact a sign of weakness on the Dr's part to cure her. Please advise as to what could be the cause and what line to follow hereafter.

All About Sexually Transmitted Diseases In Women

Sexually transmitted disease is an umbrella term consisting of diseases which you contract while having sex with someone who suffers from those diseases in the first place. There are various sexually transmitted diseases, some of them include-

1. HIV/AIDS
2. HPV or Human Papillomavirus
3. Syphilis
4. Gonorrhea

Various symptoms which indicate the onset of sexually transmitted diseases in women are-
1. Itching in the vagina

Sexually transmitted diseases, as the name indicates, are transmitted through sexual or anal contact. Therefore one of the primary symptoms of their onset in women is an uncomfortable continuous itching in the vagina.

2. Unusual and excessive discharge
Discharge in women is natural and an accepted fact. However, in case you are suffering from a sexually transmitted disease, there are chances that there would be unusual and excessive discharge.

3. Pain
Experiencing pain near the pelvic area and the abdomen are common symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. The pain ranges from being mild to sometimes excruciating.

However there are several preventive measures which you can undertake to diminish the chances of suffering from sexually transmitted diseases. Some of them are-

1. Daily check up
In case you are sexually active, make it a point to visit a doctor and undertake tests which determine the onset of sexually transmitted diseases. It is highly recommended for women to get a pap test regularly and in case it is required, go for a human papillomavirus vaccination

2. Make sure your partner wears a condom
No matter how much you are in love with your partner, make sure that he wears a condom while having sex. A condom protects you not only from vaginal sex but also from the potential repercussions of oral sex.

3. Communicate with your partner
It is imperative that you communicate with your partner regarding your concerns. At the same time be honest with your doctor while visiting him or her. Tell the doctor, honestly and earnestly what you fear if you want to be treated properly.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hepatitis C: Can Be as Dangerous as Hepatitis B

Hepatitis C: Can Be as Dangerous as Hepatitis B

Hepatitis C is a Viral Infection That is Little Talked About, But Can Be As Dangerous As Hepatitis B

Most people have head or what became in the 1980s and '90s the dreaded AIDS virus. With time and the availability of medicines, it ceased to be a killer. However, the knowledge of it helped stem its spread. Most people, unfortunately, don't realize that hepatitis C is also a killer, simply because not much has been said about it. In fact, it is also a virus, but is 10 times more infectious than HIV.

Hepatitis C is transmitted through the blood, and is usually passed on to women through infected needles and sex. At-home glucometers are often shared, or sometimes a woman's own lifestyle or her partner's lifestyle before marriage may put her at risk, because the virus can stay in the blood for years. It is also transmitted through blood products, like in the case of a transfusion, though in the case of pregnant women, this is not so common.

The dangers
The virus affects 1 in every 100 people in India, while globally 180 million are infected with it. Sometimes, it may just pass through the body, like many other viruses do, but sometimes, it can remain. If detected quickly, within six months or so, cure rates are high. the problem is that it is often not easy to detect, as symptoms resemble those of a regular seasonal viral infection: fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite. If it remains in the body, becoming chronic, then it may progress to liver disease. But the hepatitis C virus (HCV) doesn't have to be a killer. You can conquer it with these moves.

What you should do before
A number of couples who come to me have planned pregnancies-they opt for a baby, rather than the baby just 'happening' to them. This not only helps family planning, but it also helps us rule out infections or treat them if present. Usually, in the first trimester, your gynecologist will ask you to do a simple blood test for HIV, hepatitis B and C. In the case of a planned pregnancy, visit your doctor beforehand and ask if you need to take these tests before you conceive. However, there is no vaccine for HCV yet.

What you should do after
If a woman find out in the first trimester that she is hepatitis C positive, there's nothing much that can be done, as anti-viral medications cause birth defects, so a mother can only be put on them after delivery. She is advised to continue the pregnancy. A baby's chance of acquiring the infection in utero is between 5 and 7%. While this is not high, parents may like to avoid the risk. However, co-infection with HIV (if the mother is HIV positive) pushes the risk up to 19.4%. The pregnancy itself will not be hampered by the HCV infection. Nor does the risk of transmission to the child have anything to do with the mode of delivery-either vaginal or C-section. In India, there is little data on HCV transmission from mother to child. However, once the baby is born, the pediatrician may not do an immediate test to check for the virus, as it generally clears out from the baby's system in a year or so. Testing may only be done at 18 months.
