Eggs are a common food, which are also incredibly nutritious as well. There are a number of important nutrients in it including vitamins A, B2, B5, B6, B12, D, E and K as well as foliate, phosphorous, selenium, calcium and zinc. All of these are contained within just one boiled egg which also contains 6 grams of protein as well as 5 grams of healthy fats.
Not only do you get all of these nutrients with just one boiled egg, its calorie count is pretty healthy as well. Here are the health benefits which all of these nutrients give:
1. Eggs do not raise blood cholesterol
It is true that when you eat eggs, cholesterol enters your body. However, eggs also give a signal for the liver to stop producing the cholesterol it usually produces. The increase in the intake of cholesterol compensates for the decrease in the cholesterol produced by the liver and therefore keeps the blood cholesterol levels constant.
2. Eggs have choline
Choline is an incredibly important nutrient for your body. This is because it helps build cell membranes and is also crucial when it comes to the production of certain signalling molecules in the brain. A single egg has about 100 milligrams of this nutrient and therefore is one of the best sources of it.
3. Eggs are good for your eye
Eggs have two very important nutrients for your eyes. These are Lutein and Zeaxanthin. These nutrients stop degenerative processes from occurring in the eye.
4. Eggs have high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids
Eggs that are boiled have a high level of omega-3 fatty acids in them. Omega-3 fatty acids are crucial for reducing the chances of you suffering from heart disease due to the fact that it reduces your triglyceride levels.
5. Eggs are an excellent source of protein
This is the biggest reason to eat eggs. Eating eggs helps you in losing weight, optimizing bone health and lowering blood pressure.
6. Egg may reduce the risk of stroke
Studies have shown that eggs are not only good for your heart but they also reduce the likelihood of suffering from a stroke.
Almost everything you eat and drink has an impact on your oral health, especially your teeth. This impact is not just due to the food's nutritional value, but also because parts of the mouth come in direct contact with the food that is taken. For example, if the teeth come in contact with a compound that has a pH value lower than 5.5, the enamel of teeth can get softened.
The following is a list of the foods, which are good for your teeth:
1. Dairy products
Milk and most other dairy products are rich in calcium and protein. The cells called osteoblasts absorb calcium and create the protein tissues which are the building blocks of the skeleton. An added advantage of these foods is that these are low in sugar content, which is beneficial for the teeth.
Fluoridated water is extremely good for bone and dental health. Minerals like chlorine, calcium, phosphorus and fluorine can prevent damage caused by acidic foods.
3. Dry fruits
Most nuts are protein-rich. The processes of biting and chewing also stimulate the salivary glands and saliva helps to clean the mouth and maintain oral health.
Meat is also high in protein content and so it helps to protect the teeth and replenish the dissolved enamel. Fish and eggs are similarly helpful.
Here is a list of things that you should consume in regulated quantities to maintain dental health:
1. Citrus fruits
Fruits like lemons, oranges, grapes etc contain citric acid. Acidic foods erode the tooth enamel and so these kinds of fruits should be included in your daily diet in small portions.
2. Carbonated drinks
Most soft drinks and beverages contain large quantities of sugar. The sugar can be used by the dental plaque (mass of bacteria growing on the inside on the mouth) to produce acids and over time, which gives rise to a thick yellow layer on the teeth, damaging them.
3. Candied sugar
Foods that are sticky can remain stuck in between the teeth for a very long time and cause decay of the enamel and harm the gums.
Jaundice is a medical condition which is characterized by the yellow coloring of the skin and eyes. It generally occurs when there is an excess of bilirubin in your system. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment formed in the liver by the breakdown of red blood cells.
It normally gets discharged by the liver along with other dead red blood cells. So if you are suffering from jaundice, it usually indicates that you have some serious problems regarding the functioning of your liver, pancreas, or gallbladder.
Signs and symptoms
Signs and symptoms commonly associated with jaundice include:
1. Yellow-tinted eyes and skin
2. The whites of your eyes may turn orange or brown in color
3. Dark urine
4. Pale stools
5. High fatigue and vomiting (in severe cases)
Jaundice, as mentioned above, occurs when there is an excess of bilirubin and the liver is incapable of metabolizing it along with the old red blood cells. It is more common in infants than in adults, because their livers are not fully developed. However, it is also a frequent occurrence in adults and could be a potential sign of any of the following problems:
1. Liver infection
2. Scarring of the liver, or cirrhosis
4. Alcohol abuse
5. Liver cancer
7. Pancreatic cancer
8. Blood disorders, like hemolytic anemia
9. Parasites in the liver
10. Abnormal reactions to or overdose of medication
Diagnostic tests may include:
1. Jaundice is diagnosed primarily by taking blood tests, to help measure the amount of bilirubin as well as to trace the presence of other diseases like Hepatitis
2. Liver function tests in order to make comparisons between levels of certain proteins and enzymes when the liver is in good shape and when it is damaged
3. Liver biopsies, where samples of liver tissue are first extracted and later examined under a microscope
4. Imaging studies, consisting of abdominal ultrasounds, computed tomography scans and magnetic resonance images (MRI) tests
Also known as flatulence, gastric problems do not really mean any kind of disease. Rather, these occur as a result of some underlying condition or some distress affecting the digestive system. Gastric problems generally take their toll on the health of the person by showing their effects either as stomach pain or by making the person lose his appetite.
These gastric problems generally come along with some of the serious health conditions like diarrhoea or problems like indigestion. It is now easy to treat flatulence by using the remedies that are readily available in households.
Forms of gastric problem
Gastric problems do not generally occur alone and they usually come along with other conditions like digestive distress, diarrhoea or even cramps. Commonly this condition can be seen in three forms in a person. One is burping, the second form is belching and the third is flatulence. Each has their own magnitude of impact on the person. All three causes annoying effects to the person and can be taken care of with the help of some home remedies.
The gastric problem can be of two types. One is the acute gastritis and the other is chronic gastritis. The first problem can be cleared off within few days time and the second problem needs some extra care and treatment.
Symptoms of gastric problem
Some cases of gastric problem can be minor and can be taken care of easily. These problems can be resolved in a matter or one or two days. Other forms of flatulence can be severe and can cause other weaknesses in the body. Doctors say that gastric problems can be identified with the help of few easily comprehensible symptoms.
Some of the common symptoms of the gastric problems are,
* Constant pain in the abdominal region
* Loss of appetite
* Repeated vomiting and nausea
* Increased pressure and pain in the chest area
* Persistent headache
* Sudden dizziness during work
Solution for the problem
There are some common home remedies for gastric worries which include,
* A little cinnamon powder can be mixed with a glass of warm milk and taken along with honey.
* 2 spoons of apple cider vinegar must be mixed with a glass of warm water and cooled to the room temperature and drunk.
* Equal amounts of fennel, ginger and cardamom must be ground together and a pinch of hing must be added to it and mixed with a cup of water. It must be taken twice a day.
* 1 spoon each of carom seeds and black salt must be added to buttermilk and the solution has to be drunk.
