Permanent Hair Removal - All You Must Know!

Permanent Hair Removal - All You Must Know!

Body hair is a part of existence for both men and women and has been a part of our evolutionary biology for a very long time. However, in social settings, it may cause all types of embarrassment to people. Women and even men are thus increasingly relying on permanent hair removal methods to get rid of unwanted body hair to get the look they desire.

How Permanent is Permanent?

Most hair removal methods are temporary such as waxing, shaving, epilators etc., wherein the hair starts growing back very quickly. There are some methods however, which claim to remove body hair permanently. This is often misleading as there is no method of removing body hair permanently. These methods only delay the growth of hair and also reduce the number of active hair follicles. Even then, you will get some amount of hair growth back and you may need to have more sessions to fully remove them. There are primarily two methods which can achieve this and they are discussed below –

Laser Hair Removal-

  1. How it Works: This method uses a concentrated beam of light aimed at the hair follicles. The pigment within the hair absorbs the light which ends up damaging it. This damage to the follicle ensures that future growth of the hair is stopped or at least reduced.

  2. Pain: Laser hair treatment feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin and may feel slightly painful depending upon your pain tolerance.

  3. Length of an individual session: The length of an individual session depends on how big is the area that needs to be treated. One session may last for about half an hour. You may need to come back once a month for about 4 to 6 months to get the desired results.

Electrolysis-

  1. How it Works: In electrolysis, a thin needle is inserted into the root of the hair. Once in place, a tiny electrical current is put into it. This current destroys the hair cells and thus prevents them from growing back.

  2. Pain: You may feel a pinch or sting during the treatment. However, most of it depends on how well you can take pain.

  3. Length of an individual session: Electrolysis may take about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the area being treated. However, repeat sessions are fewer, although it would depend on the area being treated.

In many cases, laser treatment and electrolysis are used in tandem to complete a job that cannot be done by one alone. In most cases, laser treatment is usually done for a rough job and electrolysis is used as a finishing touch.

Hair Loss - How Does PRP Therapy Help?

Hair Loss - How Does PRP Therapy Help?

PRP is a non-surgical therapeutic hair restoration option. It is suitable for both men and women. It is a state-of-the-art, totally natural, alternative medical procedure used for the treatment of hair loss or hair thinning. It is an injectable treatment which uses the patient’s own blood.

PRP has been in use in the medical field for two decades, and offers some promising potential for stimulating hair growth. However, no definitive studies yet exist that confirms its efficacy.

Advantages of PRP Therapy:

PRP can be helpful in:

  1. Slowing the rate of hair loss
  2. Regrowing thinning hair to be thicker and full
  3. Boosting the health and condition of the scalp
  4. Stimulating collagen levels
  5. Preparing the scalp for hair transplantation & post hair transplantation

PRP can also assist in the treatment of skin and scalp conditions such as:

  1. Dry, itchy and inflamed scalp
  2. Genetic hair loss
  3. Alopecia areata
  4. Telogen effluvium (commonly caused by stress)

 How PRP Works?

The scalp is cleansed and numbing cream applied. While the scalp is prepared, a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient. This blood is then centrifuged to produce the Platelet Rich Plasma. The PRP component is taken from the blood and injected or infused into the scalp or areas of hair loss. Patients are able to resume normal activities after this procedure.

PRP harnesses the growth factors carried in the blood supply and then delivers a concentrated dose back to the affected scalp and hair follicles. The growth factors in the platelets stimulate the follicles to grow hair. The hair follicles in the resting phase (telogen) may be pushed into growth, and this will appear as new hair growth.

Who is a candidate for PRP?

Men or women who have early stages male or female pattern baldness are suitable candidates for PRP.  It is also suitable for men or women who are currently using hair loss medications; or those who are experiencing or expect to experience post-partum hair loss. It is also suitable for those who have had or plan to have hair transplant surgery

However, you are not a candidate for PRP if you:

  1. Have medical conditions such as chronic liver disease, skin diseases or cancer, metabolic and systemic disorders
  2. Have undergone anti-coagulation therapy
  3. If you have any type of platelet dysfunction syndromes

The Vampire Facelift - Must Know Things About It!

The Vampire Facelift - Must Know Things About It!

There are many cosmetic procedures that are accessible to patients who need to surgically reposition the facial tissues that have loosened as one ages. One of them is the Vampire Facelift which uses infusions of the patient's own blood through an element known as Selphyl.

The Vampire Facelift, or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), includes extracting spoons of a patient's blood from their arm and spinning it in a rotator to isolate the plasma - the liquid part - from the red and white platelets.

The concentrated plasma, which is rich in platelets, is then infused into the face. A few experts pump it with dermal fillers to further lift up the loosened zones, for example, under the eye. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Blood from the arm is extracted, which is then spun in a rotator to isolate the platelets.

  2. The platelets are then re-infused into the skin with a fine needle and just infused into the areas that need be lifted or rejuvenated.

  3. These infusions include a little fat as well, to make a smooth, rounder and plumper appearance.

  4. During the Vampire facelift procedure, Hyaluronic corrosive (HA) fillers are utilised which help in lifting the skin from the bone to give your skin a decent shape with a younger look.

  5. Again this HA filler would pursue the wrinkle that is connected with your face and make an alternate shape of the face which might look different from the original one.

Some of the advantages of this facelift are:

  1. Change in skin surface and tone.

  2. Reclamation of facial shape.

  3. Growing new and younger tissues.

  4. Superior option to neurotoxin (Botox) and different infusions.

  5. Infusion of the blood causes no bruising, as it is a thin, watery liquid.

  6. No allergy testing is required as the substance is the individual's blood.

However, there are certain disadvantages as well. These are as follows:

  • Most plastic surgeons do not believe in the efficacy of this procedure.

  • Uncertainty whether Selphyl has been FDA approved for facial revival.

  • There will be some redness in the rejuvenated area.

  • The Vampire Facelift takes a few weeks to bring about results.

  • The disadvantage with HA fillers is the way it will make your eyes hurt.

The infusions are not just used to smoothen the wrinkles on the face. It can likewise be utilised on different parts and areas of the body with diminished volume or wrinkles. The technology that is behind the Vampire Facelift is not new.

Doctors have been utilising one's own plasma to help other procedures like bone mending after spinal wounds and to recover delicate tissues after plastic surgery for a long time. Like any sort of medicinal technique, it is important to conduct appropriate research to check whether it is ideal and suitable for your body and skin type.

Importance Of Water For Skin And Hair!

Importance Of Water For Skin And Hair!

70% of our body is made up of water. This clear fluid is essential not only for a good digestive system, but also for clear, glowing skin. Keeping your skin hydrated by drinking enough water can help prevent a number of skin conditions ranging from acne to dry skin.

1. Ideally, a person should drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. Since the skin is the last organ to receive water from the digestive system, drinking less water will lead to your skin being dehydrated. These 10 glasses of water should be spaced out evenly through the day. This is because the body can absorb a limited amount of water at a time.

2. The skin is the largest organ in the human body and is made up of cells and tissues. Like any other cell in the human body, skin cells primarily consist of water. If not hydrated enough these cells will not be able to function optimally. This makes the skin lose its elasticity and turn dry and flaky. Dry skin is more prone to fine lines, wrinkles and other such signs of ageing.

3. Hydrated skin is firm and elastic and thus is less likely to have open pores. The lesser the number of open pores, the fewer the irritants that will enter the skin and hence the lower your chance of having pimples and blemishes.

4. Water also balances the oil levels in the skin. Too little oil can make the skin dry while too much oil can cover the skin in a layer and lead to clogged pores. Water helps reduce the concentration of oil in the skin and hence helps prevent breakouts.

5. The food you eat and your digestive health also plays an important role in your skin s health. Water helps the digestive system move smoothly and flushes out toxins from the body. This keeps irritants that could cause skin ailments at bay.

6. Water also affects the quality and lustre of your hair. Hair soaks up water and moisture from its roots. If not kept hydrated, hair becomes brittle and dry. Lack of water can also affect the rate of hair growth. Drinking enough water is also beneficial in fighting against dandruff and Dermatitis Seborrhea.

Along with keeping your skin hydrated by drinking water, it is also important to hydrate the skin externally. For this, moisturising your skin is crucial. Pick a moisturiser that matches your skin type and see your skin glow.

Which kind of hair transplant? I heard of weaving and other is transplanting hairs from back side of head. Which one ...
There are many options for hair restorations 1. Surgical- Hair Transplant by either FUE (No Cut, No stitch) or FUT technique Hair transplant is a safe technique and almost painless these days. We harvest hairs from back side of head and implant on bald area. These are naturally growing hairs. 2. Nonsurgical - Hair patch or Wig. These are artificial and need maintenance every month.
