I had seizure 3 years ago. I consulted a neurologist and stated taking leviteractam tablets, still taking it. Never had seizure again in 3 years. But I'm unclear about the doctor as he is not commenting on stopping the tablets even after normal EEG reports. What should I do about this?

If both neuroimaging and eeg are normal and you never had a seizure in last 3 yrs, your antiepileptic can gradually be withdrawan.

My father [aged 85 yrs] had an episode of cerebrovascular attack about 10 years back.. Has been on Phenytoin Sodium 300 mg HS since then. Also Levetiracetam 500 mg OD had been added since 2010. Recently since last 2 years Clobazam 10 mg HS has been added. Currently he has been very drowsy. Can any of these medication be reduced?

Neurologist, Udaipur
We can try to reduce if his seizures are controlled. Needs to be evaluated for other causes of drowsiness.

Time is brain in case of acute ischemic stroke. Sooner you rush to the hospital, sooner you get the treatment leading to salvage of brain tissue from becoming permanently dead. So dont waste time visiting a general practitioners clinic if you have such kind of symptoms as it may lead to delay in treatment.

Yes parkinson's is more of a clinical than radiological diagnosis but still you need a mri to look for secondary causes of parkinsonism.

My mother is been diognised with stroke. Physiotherapy is going on. Please tell me how much time will it take for her recovery.

On an average 6-12 months depending on the severity and type of stroke but definitely she needs evaluation to prevent future episodes.

Time is brain in case of stroke so if you or anyone you know develops any symptoms suggestive of stroke like sudden onset numbness or weakness in one side of body or face, immediately rush to hospital.

Depends on the cause. If its due to hyperthyroidism treatment may be shortterm but if its familial that is genetic than life long treatment may be needed.
