Oropharyngeal cancer is a type of cancer which develops in the throat, especially the oropharynx region which constitutes the tonsils, base of the tongue and the pharynx. It can be malignant if not treated at a preliminary stage depending on which type of throat cancer it is. HPV positive is caused by viral infection and HPV negative is caused by use of substances like tobacco and cigarettes. Early symptoms include lumps in the throat, inability to swallow food, coughing and voice changes.
HOW IS OROPHARYNGEAL CANCER DIAGNOSED?
