It could be a sign of allergic reaction to medicine or paradoxical worsening due to immune reactivation.

I had a urethritis in feb after sexual intercourse with a female partner. The tests for syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, hiv, hsv1&2 have all been negative (as per the latest tests in april). The test only found cocci bacteria in urine and an early sign of syphilis (spot on inner foreskin was treated with penicillin injection ). I recently went on a date in early may but used complete protection. After 1 week of the act, I now notice that the earlier spot is torn and the head of the penis has reddish spots with burning sensation. The skin tear is healing for the past 1 week but the red spots appeared just 2 days back. I have noticed that the inner foreskin reacts to latex condom and some kind of lubricants. I am not sure if I have sti or some sort of allergy. Please help to understand.

My sister is 10 years old and she is a tb infection patient since february her medication had started and before that she is taking medicines for typhoid and jaundice since 1 year she has got the wrong treatment of typhoid and jaundice because of that her body gets weak and that effect on her chest after the check up we got to that her left lung is filled up with water and has pneumonia in last december on 29. She gets hospitalized for a week to keep the water out from the lungs. And in january in the hiv test reports she has tb infection in the body. She has a low level of haemoglobin in her body is this the reason that my sister is missing her periods for seven months or there is any other issue. Her periods started at the age of 9.

One month ago, I was involved in love making with a lady whom I am suspect to have multiple sexual partners. We didn't involve in vaginal/anal sex (though I wore condom which remained intact till I came out). We neither got involved in oral or, we did not even kissed one another. But I made one mistake. After fingering her vagina twice or thrice, within few seconds, I rubbed the lady's breasts/nipples from same fingers, and after few seconds I sucked/licked those nipples. That time I had a week old (non bleeding) mouth sore (canker sore) under the tip of my tongue. This is what scaring me. Within 12 hours I started pep treatment and it has been 30 days I am still taking the pep tablets. What is my hiv risk estimation from this episode? Kindly help!

According to history there is least chances of hiv transmission. Further you took pep treatment. For 100 % sure go for hiv combo duo test after 42 days of breast sucking.

Hello, I have a question regarding a “potential” hiv exposure. I’m 29 female with no medical conditions. The man in question is someone I did’t know much and don’t really trust. He ejaculated on my thighs, close to the vagina. Although I had an underwear on at this point, this incident occurred at the backseat of a car pretty much in the dark. There was a a lot of sweat, semen and vaginal fluids involved. I took tissues and cleaned it all up, including removing my underwear and wiping everything off. I did’t put the underwear back on when I redressed. While I understand no intercourse took place, my concern is whether in the fluid heavy environment and messy cleanup process, some of that semen may have found a way to the opening of either the anus or the vagina and maybe trickled inside. My first question is 1) is this considered a viable exposure, or does the semen need to be deposited deeper inside the anal/vaginal walls to have the potential of transmission? While I don’t truly know his hiv status, we are residents in a country that screens for hiv every 2 years and and requires all residents to be negative to receive a visa. His last medical screening was 7 months prior to this incident. Upon my request, he did take an hiv screening ab/ag combo test 45 days after this incident with me which was non-reactive but i’m hesitant to take that at face value as a number of factors can affect that. I also took the hiv combo, syphilis, hep b & c at 50 days and 88 days after the incident and they all returned as non-reactive. Based on the research I had done, I assumed this was conclusive, however the gp doctor I consulted with at my test at 88 days asked me to repeat the test at 6 months for a 100% conclusive result. This leads to my second question 2) is the hiv combo test only reliable with 100% certainty after 6 months and I need retest again or can I take this test at 88 days test as conclusive and forget this entire incident? I am most concerned as i’m getting married in 1.5 months (this is before the 6 months mark) and I don’t want to take even the slightest chance of transmitting anything to my spouse. Thank you for your response!

Hiv testing is conclusive in three ways
1. 12 days after exposure rna pcr test
2.42 days after exposure combo duo test
3. 90 days after exposure hiv tridot
no use of taking post exposure prophylaxis treatment.

Whilst a negative or positive result from this test is highly accurate, there are reasons why we recommend a follow-up test after 45 days of exposure: this advice is in accordance with bashh guidelines to have an hiv 4th generation test 45 days after exposure and to repeat at 3 months for those at high risk.

30 year old female. She was diagnosed with hsv2 3 years ago. During this time she had about 5 outbreaks which was very mild. After drinking two anti-viral, her outbreak would end. About two months ago, she changed her birth control from yasmin to diane and after 2 weeks started getting the worst outbreaks she ever experienced and they would carry on for weeks. Aciclovir also didn’t help much. Just made it more bearable. She went off diane and it got a little better but now two weeks later she has another outbreak that is lasting more than 7 days? What could be the issue? Hiv negative. Hepatitis negative. Could it be the birth control?
